  1. Benning was on prospect radio on TSN 1040 last night and discussed him in depth. Try digging it up on the Google
  2. Sure. Hard to discuss the mists of time though
  3. I'm far more interested in discussing what he's doing recently than fretting over what he didn't do last year or before. Recently he's shown steady progression to becoming a pro.
  4. So much crystal ball fretting. You guys sleep ok?
  5. Not all players take the straightest path to the NHL. As was said last page, he was never forced to build his foundational play in Calgary. Never forced to mature. He's doing that now. Would it be better if he wasn't 'behind'. Absolutely. But really, I don't care if Jake is behind now, I care where Jake is in 2+ years.
  6. 'Don't matter' is probably a bit strong. Aren't as important right now as Jake learning to be a professional athlete, learn the stuff he didn't pick up in junior/unlearning his bad junior habits and in the context of how he's largely being used presently would be more accurate.
  7. He's not playing poorly in the context Green is using him, so no not really. I'm not making any excuses. In not coming to any conclusions in fact, on account of he's only 20 years old. That's your problem IMO. You're simply forming a premature conclusion. It's not 'truth'. Negative or otherwise.
  8. He's learning the basics of being a pro that he didn't get in junior and because of his own immaturity and circumstance. If he's not scoring next year, I'll be far more concerned. For right now, he needs to learn how to eat, train and play like a pro. Learn to bring pace and constant pressure with every shift. Scoring, while nice, is not particularly on my radar right now.
  9. Clearly we shouldn't listen to his coach, manager or Virtanen himself. Obviously panicky, negative and bitchy CDC'ers and their rumors, hearsay and crack pot theories are our only real source for 'truth'. What ever was I thinking?
  10. Absolutely. But not all players have that figured out at 18. Have you heard the stories of Gudreau's diet? ! Virtanen, clearly was one of the guys who hadn't. Sounds like he's figuring out now. So lets all just calm down and await the results then end of this year and next.
  11. He's also 20. I'd love to know Alf's dietary and drinking etc habits at 19/20. We already know he's not 'Horvat mature'. It sounds like he's starting to figure that (and correspondingly other parts of being a pro and hence, better hockey player) out. So lets just see how that turns out now that he's starting to mature and put things together rather than harping on about unsurprising past issues of a 20 year old kid.
  12. There's also a LOT more hills, bridges etc here to cause issue than the prairies I don't know, our snow gets pretty wet and hence heavy generally too. You may get volume but if you manage to keep up with it instead of waiting for it to get compacted...I'd take shoveling the light fluffy stuff you get. Besides, don't you own a snow blower?
  13. Nice 'dry' -30 snow is a HELL of a lot easier for people to drive in FWIW. That said, holy hell we have a lot of moronic drivers who are barely capable of driving on a nice, dry, sunny spring day...never mind snow!
  14. Agree with that. Definitely more risk/reward and likely the main thing keeping him from 1st overall IMO. That's just not true.
  15. He's certainly a better 'all around' player and likely a 'safer' pick. But I'd wager Hischier will be more dynamic and more productive offensively. We've already got a 'Patrick' in Horvat and personally I don't see a lot separating Patrick/Hischier in quality. Just different play styles. Can I ask why you'd be 'butt hurt'?
  16. I actually hope that if by some miracle we actually win one of the lotto picks, we get 2nd even over 1st. IMO Hischier fits our team needs better and will be just as good (and likely more dynamic) of a player. But I think local media/a good portion of the fan base would crucify management if we picked him at 1.
  17. Sounds like he's starting to figuring it out despite all the prognostications of doom and gloom by some.
  18. I'd personally be pretty surprised if Boesser's not on the Canucks next year. Though I doubt it will be hopping right in to a 1st line role like I'm sure some assume. Seems to be too driven and too damn skilled to not make the club in a middle 6 role though. But as @elvis15 points out, a lot can happen between now and next Sept.
  19. That's because you edited out the 'significant difference'. OJ's going to get a lot of '3rd assists' IMO. And yes, I agree 25 points is likely him in a 'bad' year or still developing etc and yes I'm speaking about Tanev in his prime, not career. But I don't think he's going to be a 40-50+ point D unless he exceeds expectations and starts looking like the Lidstrom 2.0 that should piss off a few of the above posters
  20. Listen you cheeky bugger
