  1. He might just be safe and we lose the likes of Sbisa or Gaunce (unless we can trade a D). Lifer vet, +30 years old who could easily go back home (or to another team) in one year as free agent. If I'm LVGK, I want guys under contract and or RFA that I have some time and or control over.
  2. Keep trying to get the wife to watch it....
  3. According to CDC, that's disappointing.
  4. As much as I love the Honey Badger, I think he's the guy left exposed sadly.
  5. I'd like to point out the guy I wanted has the most goals Nope. Takes players time to adapt and IMO, the Eriksson signing will be far more important in the 18/19 season as he'll likely be the only top 6 vet we have left at that point. He'll give Benning a couple extra years to find and/or develop a future top 6 RW, shelter Boeser etc.
  6. Hilariously ironic post in a Juolevi thread of all places. Thanks for the Monday morning laugh
  7. Demko also has more points than Boeser in the AHL, clearly Boeser is a bust too, right? Am I CDC'ing right now?
  8. Just block him like I did. He used to at least be funny, now he's just obnoxious, repetitive and unoriginal. Right side vs left side. Offensive D vs 2 way D. Size mismatch etc. So no, not really.
  9. I'm not sure why people are so obsessed with this being the case? Who was honestly expecting that from a 6th overall? ! At 6th overall you hope for a solid top 9 player. If you manage a legit 'star', it's considered pretty damn lucky. I'd say anyone expecting something like an 'Ovie' says a lot more about this fanbase's out of whack expectations than it does about Virtanen or his somewhat rocky development path so far. There's nothing wrong with him eventually developing in to a big, fast, tough and complimentary offense guy which is still easily within reach with some good development the next 2-3 years. It may not be as 'sexy' as a smaller, slick sniper but those guys can and do help win cups.
  10. This can and likely will happen. One of many reason's he's not going to play 4 years at UND and go UFA.
  11. Nope. Two years of making NHL money and 2 years sooner to free agency etc, particularly when you're career could be ended at ANY point via injury trumps any nonsense you can come up with.
  12. Two years less of pro money and two years longer before his ELC runs out etc, etc that's why. It's in is best business interests to sign with Van as soon as possible. And chances are, a team scoring 3+GPG is already full of top 9 players and would have far less room for him on their roster. WS already covered the first portion of this but the underlined is also completely crap with current management.
  13. Yeah, way rather keep Boeser and move Tanev + for a top 3 forward.
  14. To clarify, my comment was clearly (or so I thought) in regards to your comments on him needing to learn to play a complete game. This ^^ sentiment is nonsense IMO. Just as it was when WD was insisting Baer need to play a complete game and half of CDC was screaming "buuuutttt HH eeeZZZ Offennnnnsssse Plaaaayyyyerzzzz!! NeededddZZZZZZZ PP annnnd OOOfeennnssssivvvVVe StarttttttZTZZZ!" And lo and behold....when he started playing a complete game, he started getting more chances. When he did that WD gave him more opportunity. With those two things he then got more production! Shockingly, when you insist players develop a complete, NHL level game, they actually.... improve!
  15. Sorry, I don't know how to respond to that much ignorance.
  16. You do realize that most of those guys were/are, long shots right? @canuckledraggin's point is quite valid IMO. We haven't really had much in the way of blue chip talent in our farm system due to most of it being still in junior, in college, playing in Europe or going straight to the NHL. You can't develop what you don't have. If Green's still around next year, he'll (or whoever is our next coach) have FAR more to work with and more again the year following. And Subban (who was also always a long shot) is reportedly progressing fairly well BTW and was named to the AHL all star game. And you couldn't be more wrong about Jake IMO. He needs to learn the fundamentals of the pro game and how to constantly push and attack EVERY shift before even bothering working on his offense. If he doesn't get another point until next Christmas, I could care less so long as he's working on those parts of his game. Once he gets that figured out and understands the work and fitness required to play that way, his natural skills and talent will bring the offense.
  17. Boeser's already playing against men in college FWIW. Same reason Stetcher was able to make the transition (despite being smaller than Boeser). I'll be pretty surprised if Boeser spends more than small stints in Utica next year. He's not McCann. Pretty sure it's 4 years to go UFA. I don't think you have much to worry about as he's given no indications that that's even on his radar and many indications he plans on being a Canuck very soon.
  18. That's because large portions of this board are ridiculous. If we can get a less weird, less injured version of booth, that would be great. Booth was a pretty good player until injuries (concussions and.... was it knee?) derailed him. Besides being a weirdo anyway
  19. That's my assessment as well. Good player, love to have him. Doesn't have as high of a ceiling.
  20. I don't think Boeser will have much trouble starting right in to the nhl next year. He might slump at some point and need a stint in Utica but I doubt they get to see him as much as they'd like. Virtanen on the other hand I hope stays in Utica next year and is available for call up. If things go well this summer, we don't need him for another year anyway IMO.
  21. Yeah, I'd love to put him with the twins their final year but because of those things, I doubt they'd be a good fit.
  22. I could give a rats fart about 'right now'. We're still not a contender 'right now' with either of those guys on the team and there's absolutely no guarantee they'll be any better 4+ years from now when it actually does matter. Speaking of ragging on Juolevi as well... hockey IQ is pretty much his strongest asset
  23. Mac will likely be a very solid top 4 D. I don't think he's dynamic enough at this point to point to him being picked ahead of the other guys. Likely safer than but lower ceiling vs Sergachev. Not as athletic as Chychrun. Not as smooth or cerebral as OJ. He may very well pass some of those guys but if in going out on a limb with a guess, I'd predict him as a solid 2 way #3 or 4 D as his ceiling.

Rodin re-tweaked knee: CDC - "SHOULD BE PLAYZZZING!!!"
  25. More NHL ready/ready body but lower ceiling. I wouldn't.
