I'm not saying it's impossible, it's just not necessary. He doesn't turn 19 until this May, there's no rush especially as we have enough bodies next year even if we move Tanev. I'd rather see him have the better part of this and next year to add mass, gain strength and be able to stand on his own 2 feet/merit and not rely on being paired with a Gudbranson. Benning's done an excellent job of building depth here so we're not forced to rush guys in to those positions. All I'm suggesting is that we take advantage of that
-
To be fair, that's always been is 'knock'. But then again, he was also a VERY young 18 year old at the draft, He's got lots of time to add muscle and strength. He has the frame for it. But that's the biggest one of the many reasons I see him back in Jr. next year an not on the Canucks @Chip Kelly. As for his skating, it's pretty good for Jr. level but like most kids, he'll need to work on constantly keeping his feet moving and keeping his intensity up at the next level. But that's all but universal for Jr. players. When he's moving, Juolevi's skating is sublime IMO. Both of those things are easy to fix though. The smarts, the poise, the puck moving, the vision etc. THOSE are the reasons we drafted him.

I WANT

You've made me REALLY want to get Domi now you bugger! It just makes too much sense. Tanev is an analytics darling, ARZ GM is an analytics guru. ARZ needs top 4 RHD, we have Tanev. We need top 6 forwards, they have top 6 forwards and a high draft pick to replace whomever they move (along with Baer/Rodin/Granlund). They could easily protect Tanev, Domi is ineligible for us. It just makes SO much sense! Next year: Domi, Horvat, Eriksson Sedin, Sedin, Hansen/Boeser Granlund/Baer/Rodin, Sutter, Boeser/Hansen Following year: Domi, Horvat, Eriksson Granlund/Baer/Rodin, Hischier?, Boeser Virtanen, Sutter, Lockwood? (maybe re-sign Hansen if Lock's not ready?)
-
Yup, and all ARZ would have to do would be to leave Stone unprotected to protect Tanev.
-
We very well could re-sign Sbisa rather than moving him next year but if we're moving him, it's not until the 2018 TDL IMO was more my point. (Unless none of this happens and we lose him in expansion.) Still, we're going to HAVE to move at least 2 those 3 guys in the next 2-3 years to make room for Tryamkin, Stetcher, Brisebois, Juolevi, Pedan etc
-
Him tossing guys like little toys was pretty fun to watch Goalies must love that
-
TDL would work too but I think for optics, and that the other team might prefer to wait until summer as well, it may not happen until then. Don't see Edler being moved yet but Miller and Burr are certainly possibilities, particularly if they'd like to pursue playoffs. Hansen and Sbisa we sell next year IMO. Edler the year following. I'd actually move very little this year given values will be down with the expansion draft looming. LE wasn't brought here for a 'Swedish connection experiment'. At least not solely/largely.
-
I think it's a case of, 'you can't have everything'. We need to move a D for a top 6 forward this summer IMO. That part of the lineup HAS to progress beyond 'just' Boeser. We also need to move a D to ensure a permanent role/playing time for guys like Tryamkin. Other than Edler (who has an NTC, 2 additional years and partners well with Stetcher and would be far more complicated to move, hence less value), Tanev's the only guy with value to get a top 6 forward. Sbisa, particularly with expansion would be lucky to fetch a 3rd, maybe a 2nd. IMO, keeping Sbisa, adding a 'Domi' or similar (and likely a pick if we move one of Baer/Granlund/Rodin with him as well) is better than keeping Tanev, not progressing the forward group, losing Sbisa in expansion for nothing etc.
-
Yeah Ideally, over the next couple years you role back Edler to a lesser role/minutes as other guys earn more minutes. Less PP/PK time as Stetcher, Hutton, maybe Tryamkin etc develop Juolevi comes on board etc. And hopefully, eventually, move him for more picks/prospects in his last year. Brisebois actually plays a lot like Tanev but with a bit more offense IMO. He's also an inch taller and almost the same weight at only 19. Clearly he won't be as polished as Tanev at this level yet (that'll be a good few years away) but he projects well IMO. Great skater, sees the ice well, patient, moves the puck well.
-
I'm hoping we trade Tanev + one of Baer/Granlund/Rodin for a Domi type (and a pick). Protect Sbisa to be traded at 2018 TDL. We lose one of Baer/Granlund/Rodin to expansion (maybe Gaunce).
-
My view on Tanev is that in around 4+ years when we're hopefully contending again, he'll be exiting his prime. He also gets rag-dolled too hard and too often for my liking and I'm concerned that starts catching up to him sooner than later (perhaps it already is). Then there's his NTC that kicks in this summer and that he currently is valued pretty high by the analytics community and off his performance at the world's. If we're going to maximize return on him, it's this year before July 1 IMO. That and we're going to have to start moving him and yes, eventually Edler in the next couple years as the Hutton's, Stetcher's, Juolevi's, Brisebois etc start pushing for roles and minutes. There's simply not enough room for all of them.
-
Ewwwww, @Alflives has Pratt dingle berries
-
Because there's no rush and there'll be more room the following year.
-
Sadly, I think he's back to Jr. next year. Utica would probably be the best place for him.
-
To be fair though, Pratt's a moron who likes to throw crap at walls in hopes some of it will stick.
-
Couldn't agree more.
-
Boeser. Virtanen, Lockwood, Zhukenov etc and hopefully whoever we trade Tanev for this summer as well as our likely lotto pick in the draft.
-
Bad things happen when little kids get hold of their mom's tablet.
-
First call up next year until we start maybe moving bodies at the 2018 TDL.
-
Clearly you haven't seen/heard any of his recent Vancouver interviews
-
I really don't expect to see him make giant contributions on the Canucks for another 2-4'ish years. Playing here would just have him being constantly roasted for being an around 25 point 'bust' next year and there's still not a ton of room at forward until the following year anyway. I'd rather he dominate down in Utica and come up for the occasional, low pressure call up then come in the following year (or maybe the TDL next year).

It's not even been 2.5 years. Give the man some actual time to collect 'eggs'.
