  1. I'd say he certainly lessens our need for a stud McDavid/Mathews-esque 1C at any rate. People complain about our lack of 'sexy' forwards like the tanking teams have but I really like the team Benning's building here. Building from the net out and with a smattering of REALLY solid forwards that he can now add some more skill to. People need to go look at the point totals of the team he helped build in Boston in 2011 that beat us for the cup. McDavid's etc are nice, sure. But you don't need one to win a cup. You need a solid team.
  2. And? $5M is not a 'bigger dollar' contract in today's NHL. When Gudbranson starts demanding/we're paying him $7-8M +, come talk to me.
  3. Not entirely about body fat %.

Honestly I wouldn't mind sending him down right now to play big minutes.
  5. I'm glad he is too, but no, he shouldn't have.
  6. If I recall, he was also one of the younger guys in the draft. When he matures and gets some strength, he's going to be a hell of a D IMO.
  7. And that's largely all I'm looking for this year. Win or lose. A lot of CDC would be happier people if they did the same
  8. Pretty much this but with the caveat that in not sure what people want WD to do. If he'd played Sbisa more instead, the Sbisa thread would have simply been the busier thread instead with hilarious pylon and Sbisa's pizzas comments there instead of everyone piling on Edler. The Hawks turned it on and they're a better team. Period.
  9. Now if we could just get Hansen back too, that'd be a much better line with Horvat until Virtanen etc is ready in the next few years.
  10. But nobody is 'rejecting analytics'. We're rejecting poor use of analytics. Analytics that substitute context with agenda and bias. Analytics are a perfectly useful tool when used appropriately, WITH context.
  11. Part of Benning's responsibilities as GM also include P.R. FWIW.
  12. Not sure what his hero chart looks like.
  13. It's generally common practice to 'reduce' or 'simplify' fractions.
  14. There's so much wrong with this it's almost funny. Comparing Sbisa to the Doughty's et al without the context of their usage, QOC and partner etc is why simplistic and bad usage of analytics are a complete waste of time. You're entire premise that Benning doesn't either understand or fully utilize analytics is because some bad analysts with agendas did bad analysis that is counter to moves Benning has made. That doesn't mean Benning doesn't understand or use analytics. It means he likely understands them far better than the simpletons critiquing him with their poor usage of them.
  15. I like how you're presenting this as fact
  16. There's a reason I said 'basement'. Pretty much his offense doesn't translate or develop at the NHL level and he develops 'poorly', a 'basement' comparison of Maata is not far off IMO. That's pretty much worst-case and IMO, unlikely.
  17. Floor ^^^ meet ceiling...
  18. I haven't won the lottery yet. Clearly it's happening tomorrow.
  19. You're getting pissed about something that hasn't happened and you have no evidence will happen. You're basing this on what? A history of completely different owners, players and managements...? By all means, I think Virtanen should be in Utica. And as an only 20 year old potential power forward who notoriously take longer to 'figure it out' there is no shame in that. All the 'but Nylander is already producing' whining be damned. People have every right to question why he's not in Utica right now, it's a fair question. All this other kvetching about his character, intelligence, how the Canucks are 'ruining him' or that we're planning to move him for peanuts is just a load of nonsense though. CDC needs to collectively calm the @##$% down.
  20. I wish they'd but him, Baer and Eriksson on a line and feed them largely o-zone starts personally.
