  1. No idea Alf. But something along those lines is what we should be looking for. A team ready to take the next step that has an abundance of forwards but needs a solid D. EDM would be a good fit but being in our division and already doing the Larsen trade probably scratches them off the list.
  2. Short of pretty much all the kids stalling/regressing and at least two to three of Hank, Daniel, Eriksson, Sutter Edler, Tanev or Gudbranson being out long term... there's almost zero chance we're picking top 5 IMO and there's not much top end talent this year by most accounts. That lack of top talent is why I'd be willing to move our 1st for the right deal this year. AKA, I doubt we're drafting our 1C this year unless we get really, REALLY lucky.
  3. Yeah I've wondered a few times out loud here lately if a package of our first pick this year, one of our D + might get us a 1C....
  4. I tend to agree with this. A bit disappointed he didn't get the call, especially with how good he looked with Edler (which may have influenced my bias a touch ) but Larsen will likelier than not be injured sooner than later and we'll see him up soon enough and until then he gets big minutes, all situations in Utica. That and this gives us more organizational depth which is never a bad thing.
  5. Yeah there's a lot there to work with. We might have to actually move a forward. Same situation on D. Have to wonder if one of our D, a forward and say our first pick gets us that 1C we need...

    Anton Rodin | RW/LW

Putting him on the IR, then a conditioning stint gives them time to give Virtanen a better look. All works out IMO.
  7. Assuming they put together a solid season, I doubt a 3rd or 4th is out of the question. Or perhaps as a sweetener in a larger deal.
  8. We still need a 13th forward and I can guarantee it won't be one of the kids who need to play. Burrows and Ruutu can swap in and out as 13th, Ruutu can play C in the event of injury as well. Consider moving both at the deadline for picks, recall a kid or two.
  9. Him and Stetcher could possibly make an interesting offensive pair down the line but likely too green for the next year or two. I think it more likely to be with one of the bigger guys.
  10. Sayin all the right things.
  11. I doubt they'll be a pair. Too similar, not complimentary. He'd pair better with Gudbranson, Sbisa (if still here) or Tryamkin.
  12. Yeah, it's a 1 way I believe. It's certainly a possibility he goes. Not sure what he'd be offered for $ in the KHL, what effect taxes might have on that or the draw of simply being closer to home and what difference that might make but it is certainly a possibility.
  13. Farhan Lalji ‏@FarhanLaljiTSN 8m8 minutes ago Willie acknowledged there is 1 spot for either Larsen or Stecher. The more you hear him gush daily about Stecher, you think there's a chance
  14. Farhan Lalji ‏@FarhanLaljiTSN 4m4 minutes ago Willie on Stecher: "He's made it so interesting for us," Told him on the ice today, "You weren't supposed to be here." #Canucks Jon Abbott ‏@HockeyAbbs 45m45 minutes ago Of note in #Canucks 1st practice group Stecher and Larsen take turns 1st unit PP with 22-33-21-20 (Sedins/Eriksson/Sutter) #TSN1040
  15. If he gets sent down it's either because he gets clearly outplayed the last couple games by Larsen or maybe with the understanding it's short term (2'ish weeks) to give them time to move another D and make room for him. And that second scenario would be a stretch IMO. I doubt Benning wants to lose anyone either but as of right now, Stetcher's earned that 6th D spot. It's not even close IMO. That could certainly change in the last couple games but as of right now, he's Hutton'ing his way on to the team and Benning will have to react to that reality. Larsen frankly hasn't shown enough to get claimed IMO. At that point, it's up to him to report in Utica or head back to Europe.
  16. Those 3 pairs could split 5v5 time pretty evenly and Stetcher wouldn't likely see any PK time (though, clearly he'd see PP). I'd imagine Sbisa/Tanev and Edler/Guddy would get the lion's share of PK upping their minutes there. Edler, Stetcher and Hutton would likely see most of the PP time and get extra minutes there leaving Edler as still our highest minute guys likely in the low 20's most nights. Stetcher playing largely offensive starts and PP would probably be high teens. I think it would work just fine
  17. Was going to post basically the same. Blömqvist's post lacks the context of how the team was playing and the injuries we had etc.
  18. I think it's going to be a close call and I'm glad I don't have to make it.
  19. A little late to the party there LB
