  1. This just in: Juolevi is pretty good
  2. A LOT of the TV shows are absolute garbage. Prepare yourself for that. But their are some good kids movies. The Toy Story's, Wall-E, Song of the Sea, Secret of Kells, Inside Out, Ratatouille, 101 Dalmatians, Spirited Away, Aladdin, Lion King, Winnie the Pooh (original), Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, Hercules, Fantasia 2000, Harry Potter etc are all good flicks IMO. Obviously some of those you need to wait until age appropriate.
  3. That's like going to the bar and taking the ugliest girl there home... while sober.
  4. OMG yes. It's FABULOUS. I still have to start watching the new Ash TV series. Maybe this October
  5. Surprisingly enjoying these for light reading.
  6. A.I. was not bad from what I recall (been a while) but I'd probably pick Her as the better of the two similar films.
  7. I thought it was boring. Even for a popcorn flick. There was literally nothing of substance. Fell pretty flat for me, not engaging at all. If I'm going to watch an action/popcorn flick, I'd much prefer something like Dark Knight, Looper, Martrix, Inception etc.

Dorsett is not the most polished offensively. I see why people might initially gasp at the thought of putting him there. That said, I think he can play actual hockey, he meshes well with Horvat and the way WD wants him/his line to play and short of replacing him with a more polished Hansen by adding a top 6 forward elsewhere, we don't have anyone better to play with Horvat IMO. And I think they want a vet on each of those bottom two lines. That line would wreak havoc out there, be a force defensively and have a TON of speed and tenacious puck pursuit to counter attack with (which would lead to more offense than I think some would expect). They'd be a handful and a PITA to play against IMO. I also think that's how they want to develop Horvat as well. I think they see him and Virtanen as 2/3 of a future 2nd line. Big, fast, North/South, physically punishing, tenacious puck pursuing, two way hell on skates. Maybe Etem exceeds expectations and grows in to that 3rd spot. Maybe we trade for a Landeskog or similar... we'll see what happens in the next few years.
  9. That got more of an '...ok....' from me.

    Gaunce doesn't require waivers.
  11. Hadn't even heard of it Just watched the trailer though and that looks GOOD.
  12. Also, does Michael Shannon absolutely scare the crap out of anyone else? Seriously, he seems like he'd be terrifying to just be in the same room with

Behind them? No. But do you want Gaunce sitting in the press box most of the games or playing big minutes in Utica, with zero waivers risk and available for callup? I agree on Grenier, I think he gets waived and *fingers crossed* passes. Don't see Rodin as a fit with Horvat personally (outlined in previous post). So again, Rodin has to not cut the mustard and Gaunce has to pass Virtanen to even get a sniff IMO.

That's where the conditioning stint may be handy. That said a lot will depend on just how close he is or isn't. If he's still a year + away from the NHL, he goes back to the SHL IMO.

I think Etem will surprise people this year personally. Otherwise:

He just goes back to Europe. It's ether NHL or SHL for him (barring a short conditioning stint).

He'd have to pass waivers AND I believe he has a 'go back to Europe' clause. The conditioning stint might be a realistic way to temporarily get around both of those but it's not a long term solution.

So they're just going to let Rodin go back to Europe before he heals up and they see what they have? As I said earlier: That's pretty much Gaunce's only shot. Pass Virtanen on the depth chart and hope Rodin craps the bed.

I don't see Rodin with Horvat at all. Same story as WD not wanting Baer on that line if possible as they don't have overly complimentary play styles. If he makes it, it's either miraculously top 6 (not likely) or a sheltered 'offensive' 4th line with Granlund IMO. Say what you want about Dors but he pairs well with Horvat and he's the best we've got given the makeup WD wants for that line (counter attacking, tenacious puck pursuit) unless we can find someone to bump Hansen down to that spot. Or perhaps if Virtanen comes out looking BEAST. That said, I doubt they go with that much youth on Horvat's line (Etem, Horvat, Virtanen). Maybe Burr and Dorsett swap but at this point I think Dorsett's speed trumps Burrows there. People need to lower their expectations with Rodin as well IMO... Regardless, Gaunce is in tough to crack that.

I'd LOVE to put Hansen there but that would require another top 6 forward which we have in short supply presently. Etem, Horvat, Hansen... Maybe Rodin will surprise...
  21. I'd say the acting and cinematography are the high points. The leads do well with what they have and it's a gorgeous movie to look at from what I recall. The story as I noted earlier is sappy, predictable and 'quaint' with a ~1940's film's simple/unrealistic feel to it. It's definitely the weak point but it fits the genre and is still watchable as long as you go in with that context. On another note, started watching Boardwalk Empire S01, E01 and 02 last night.... SOOO GOOD.
