I just don't see Gaunce as being head and shoulders better than Granlund for them to risk waiving him and voluntarily losing depth. Both players as you say, have things to work on. Gaunce coming in and 'Huttoning' Granlund isn't likely IMO. And I think you're flat wrong on him not getting claimed. I'm hoping Baer's on the 2nd line personally (Eriksson too). Sedin, Sedin, Hansen Baer, Sutter, Eriksson Etem, Horvat, Dorsett Rodin/Virtanen, Granlund, Burrows Zalewski Grenier waived, Gaunce sent down, one of Virt/Rodin battling for that 12th spot. There's really not a lot of space there. And if we sign a UFA...none.

Granlund would get claimed IMO. Gaunce and Virtanen are the only two who don't require waivers with Grenier the only guy I think might actually pass (and even then there's some risk). Etem also made good strides at the end of the year, short of him falling off a cliff, I expect him on the team. We're quickly getting in to 'Dumb and Dumber' territory for his chances of making the big club. I mean a LOT would have to go his way for him to get a spot. It's not impossible but... Virtanen would have to look not ready and Rodin maybe on a conditioning stint for him to even get a look at the beginning of the year (that 12th spot is one of theirs IMO). And if Rodin is capable after that...he's back down. Otherwise he's looking at one of Etem or Burrows to just crap the bed. Slim chances.

He's got to leap frog too many guys IMO. Camp could change things but Zalewski's got that 13th forward/5th C spot penciled in IMO. Gaunce doesn't require waivers and I'd imagine they'd prefer him playing lots of minutes in a bigger role in Utica. That still also includes risking Grenier on waivers and one of Virtanen/Rodin not making the big club too. Like I said, too many bodies.
  4. Awesome! Glad it worked out
  5. @GLASSJAW Just went through the upcoming releases.... it does look a bit sparse
  6. I'll stick to what's working, thanks
  7. Meh, I prefer to go make love to my wife after
  8. It's not THAT bad of a movie. Sappy as a freshly tapped maple tree (and a bit predictable) mind you but it's otherwise a decent movie for the genre IMO from what I recall. Reminds me of old fashioned movies they made in like the 40's-50's.

Guance is likely in Utica regardless of signing Hudler or any other UFA.

He's still got 2 years left. At the earliest, they move him next TDL IMO. And I'd not be opposed to a re-sign if the dollars/term make sense.

Was just going to post about a possible conditioning stint and see you already beat me to it @SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
  12. Miles Ahead 8/10 Interesting take on a 'biopic' of an intensely interesting person. Has a very free form 'impressionistic' feel to it, not dissimilar to the subject's music. Which largely makes sense as the inspiration for the film. Cheadle, as usual, is very good in the lead as Davis. Would have scored higher but the 'interesting take on a biopic' does have it's negatives as per spoilers:
  13. They sold you too Alf. You've been lapping it up.
  14. Not much in to fishing but between traveling, food/wine/beer, hiking, biking, swimming, yoga, wood working, painting, family/friends and volunteering... I think I'd make due!
  15. Not me. I'd volunteer to fill any hole there and otherwise could find PLENTY to keep me busy what with travelling, spending time with my friends/family, hobbies etc. I win the Lotto Max tonight and it's good bye work
  16. Part of this problem would be resolved if companies (and people in general) would stop trying to constantly win the race to the bottom. My wife was recently looking for work (found some) and she was seeing ads for CGA's for jobs offering ~$15/hour. I mean what legit CGA is going to work for that?! How long do you think you'll be able to retain them?! What quality of work/effort do you think they're going to do/give you for the two months they're there until they find something better?! Have you even considered the costs of hiring/training someone new every ~3 months?! It's ridiculous!
  17. No kidding. A few years back I had to send them some additional tax return info. I asked what email address I could send it to and was told "we don't have email, you'll need to fax it to...". Needless to say, I'm pretty sure I made this face: You're tax dollars at work folks....
  18. Sorry to focus on you there Just seems to be a somewhat common sentiment around here that we only selected Juolevi over Tkachuk to fill an organizational need. When in fact he was BPA AND happened to fill an organizational need.
  19. Need to re-watch both of those....where to find the time? I still have a back log of new, unseeen movies to watch...
