No it really doesn't. Terrible reading comprehension.

Nowhere in there is Baer, Granlund, Eriksson a line. You came up with that in your own. You drunk?

It's not about who's a better player. It's about creating a four line team. Eriksson with the twins basically gives us one offensive line. Easily shut down by opponents.

Granlund's probably good enough to be a 3C, but regardless, I have him at 4C so I'm not really sure what you're going on about. And that's exactly the top 6 I have.

I could see our bottom 3 lines getting fairly even ice time actually. That line would also likely see PP2 time. That said, that line would only remotely happen if we can actually trade for a 2nd line winger. I'm doubtful that's actually going to happen. I think Baer would be fine there as well. Both Eriksson and Sutter can shoot the puck and Baer excels at passing (with a good shot himself). All three are decent to excellent defensively and can all skate. Those two vets should also insulate him sufficiently as well (if not as much as management would prefer, on a lower line). At this point, the only other guy likely to snag that spot over Baer would be Rodin... ...and Rodin was hampered by injuries to boot. Still he's on the small side and we've seen lots of bubble NHL, small, skilled guys not make it at this level. I'm hopeful but with low expectations. I'll believe it when (if) I see it and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

FWIW, while they might 'prefer' to trade for someone else to play 2LW, barring that trade, Baer's likely best suited to that spot IMO Sedin, Sedin, Hansen Baer, Sutter, Eriksson Burr/Dorsett, Horvat, Etem/Virtanen Dorsett/Burr, Granlund, Etem/Virtanen/Rodin Is my best guess. Unless of course Rodin comes in flying and shows he can take one of the 2nd line wing spots and knock one of Hansen or Baer out of the top 6. I'd be pretty surprised to see that though.

    Baer, Granlund, Rodin/Virtanen 'fourth' line....?

Completely agree. Personally, I think it's largely set as below: Sedin, Sedin, Hansen ____, Sutter, Eriksson ____, Horvat, ____ ____, Granlund, ____ Those blanks will be filled in by some mix of Baer, Burrows, Rodin, Etem, Dorsett, Virtanen with one guy likely not making it (one of Rodin, Burrows or Virtanen IMO). And given WD's comments on Horvat's style of game, I can all but guarantee neither of Rodin/Baer will be playing on his line barring injury.

This is why I'm guessing we see Hansen with the twins, Eriksson on the 2nd line and Rodin with Granlund. We'll basically have a 1B line, 2A, 2B and 2C And as far as I know, Burrows, Dorsett, Virtanen, Etem and Rodin can all play either wing. Edit: Eriksson too.

I'd actually LOVE to have a Virtanen, Horvat, Hansen third line. Going to be tough to make that happen this season though IMO.

Oh if it was up to me, short of him coming in to camp flying and just out -hustling/working/playing young guys, I'd likely have him in Utica player-coaching. It's pretty clear management has him on the roster barring disaster though, so I include him.

Yeah I wouldn't have Eriksson on the Sedin line either. The way they're building the team, they want to run 4, two way lines. I don't think we'll have a traditional 'checking' or fourth line. (Though Sutter and Horvat's lines will see the most D zone starts/'checking'). Sedin, Sedin, Hansen Baer, Sutter, Eriksson Burrows, Horvat, Etem/Virtanen Etem/Virtanen/Rodin, Granlund, Dorsett Zalewski (over Grenier as he can also play C and is more consistent) as 13th. My guess is one of Virtanen/Rodin doesn't make the club. Wouldn't surprise me to see Virtanen in Utica (and it would probably do him wonders for numerous reasons).
  14. Never mind that guys can and do finish their degrees WHILE playing in the NHL and earning those millions...
  15. Not to mention his career/earning potential. Every year he delays going pro is one less year of making NHL money and getting NHL experience which has sizable effect on later contracts as well. It makes very little sense for Brock to play out his 4 years of NCAA. @Realtor Rod, the reason people don't want to hear it is that there's literally zero existing or new information to suggest that's the case. In fact, most information points to Brock signing here next spring/summer. If you had some sort of new information to suggest otherwise, great. But otherwise, it's borderline trolling IMO. Are you walking around looking over your shoulder for rogue trucks because of what happened in Nice yesterday? The constant 'sky is falling' mentality some portion of this fan base has must be exhausting...
  16. Yeah it's going to be good! Juolevi trying to show what he's got. Subban and Stetcher trying to nab Larsen's likely PP/6th spot. Sbisa vs Tryamkin for # 5, Gudbranson coming in and completely revamping our top 4 and giving Hutton room to blossom. Edler and Tanev with a bit of weight off their shoulders....
  17. Oh I think he'll look VERY promising. Just don't see him nabbing a spot. Love to be wrong though!
  18. I'd be shocked if he got more than a few games this year. And I LOVE the kid.

One of the many, MANY reasons the Gudbranson trade was SO good. Add the Juolevi draft and we're set up pretty well for the future. Still can't believe people complained about that trade. Anyway, just realized this is the Rodin thread, we're WAY off topic

Yeah, you look at the guys that should be pretty safe projections to be top 6 in a few years and we already have 'too many'. Juolevi, Gudbranson Hutton, Tryamkin Sbisa, Tanev Pedan, Stetcher That's with no UFA's etc, no Brisebois, no Tate or Olson, no Subban and no further draft players. Some of those guys will need to be moved and we've seen what D get. I'd be happy to see what something like a Tanev plus Brisebois or Subban/Stetcher package lands us in say 2-3 years
  21. I agree, moving Edler or Tanev at this point would be silly. Though if all of Larsen, Tryamkin and Pedan make serious strides this season, the TDL could be a different story. We shall see. Even Sbisa, I think they'll wait to see how the first ~month or two are looking before they make a serious effort to move (if at all). Though I can't imagine he'll be too happy if he's press box bound more often than not. As for Larsen, I'd say 6th spot is his to lose in camp. They want a guy to play on the PP regularly and he's penciled in there with a pretty dark pencil IMO, if not quite pen. The 5th spot will be Sbisa or Tryamkin IMO. (though they'll likely both see regular time with injuries and Try occasionally watching even if he nabs the 5th spot). But regardless, longer term (later this year/next summer), SOMEONE is going to need to be moved out and Try has far more upside than Sbisa long term.
  22. Parenthood yo. That $@#% will wreck you. FWIW, after having kids, my wife now cries in almost EVERY movie You should have seen her in the Kung Fu Panda 2 - Po's Childhood scene when we watched it with our kids...
  23. They landed generational freaking McJesus last year and still finished 2nd last. I'm sorry but a young, developing offensive #6D shouldn't be expected to 'make them any better' all on his own on a team that has never heard of defensive structure or back checking. For a guy like him to find any success and develop as an offensive D, he needs to be paired with a steady, defensively sound partner and have a forward group committed to 2 way play and back checking that allows him the freedom to create without the constant risk of that creativity ending up back in his own net more often than not. (Sounds kind of like the environment Benning is putting together in Van, eh?). Does that sound anything like EDM of 2 years ago?
