  1. The entire team played/was coached like 'pooh' and his usage was highly questionable. He could clearly see he was better off developing elsewhere than a poorly managed, tire fire. I don't blame the guy one bit for getting the duck out of fodge.
  2. He chose to not be part of the tire fire of a team that held his rights and go play in Europe instead. At best, I'll give you that it may have been a somewhat mutual decision.

Nobody said anything about 'better'. You seem to be confusing style of play with evaluation of their overall talent. IMO, Horvat is clearly better than Granlund, that doesn't mean Baer compliments his style of play. Horvat changed his game when playing with Baer and it took him slightly away from the style of play that he's most effective at.

Why concern? Horvat's game is all about counter-punching from a solid defensive base. It would make sense to put him with players that would compliment that style of play, no? I think him and Virtanen are destined to be an exceedingly dangerous pair in that regard in a few years. Who the other winger will be is very much up for debate though. But I don't see it as Baer who is more of a creative/dangler/passer. I also don't see putting Granlund as an offensive 4th line C as any sort of 'special treatment'. It's simply arranging players to best compliment their strengths.
  5. Watched that with the kids a few ago. I'd give it 6.5, maybe 7 personally. Entertaining enough, good moral, pretty etc but lacked the emotional pull off the better examples of the genre.
  6. Yeah it wouldn't be straight across. Sbisa for a piece then that piece plus something else for the D upgrade. Or the piece we get for Sbisa makes someone else expendable and we move that existing piece, plus etc.

This subject keeps coming up as though Benning is done and has his feet up. We likely have 2-4 more years of Sedins to draft, trade or sign a couple top 6 guys. We've already got Baer, Boesser, Horvat and Virtanen as likely candidates for 4 of the 6 spots. We've got Eriksson as a bridge as another spot and lottery tickets like Rodin, Zhukenov etc and 2-4 years to find a couple key guys and people are acting like it's Armageddon... Edit:Plus we have an increasingly full D cupboard we may be able to move for guys in a couple years!
  8. Yeaaaahhh.... I hear what you're saying. And I agree Biega would probably pass. As of now though, I'd gladly trade Sbisa+ for a higher ceiling, near ready D prospect that isn't a waiver risk. Same depth that way but no waiver risks That and I think Tryamkin's going to earn a bigger spot than 7th D and I think he needs to play to keep getting better. I know, he'll get playing time regardless with injuries but that's just my gut feeling on the situation.

The third line would be Horvat’s. Something like Burrows/Horvat/Virtanen hardly strikes me as 'fragile'. As for the fourth Granlund/Rodin line, the third guy would be likely Etem, Dorsett etc to add a bit of snarl on that line. They'd get primarily o zone starts and lesser competition. Horvat and Sutter's lines would get the tougher competition and more d zone starts.
  10. Moving Sbisa should be the answer we're all looking for. Edler, Tanev Hutton, Gudbranson Tryamkin, Larsen Pedan, Biega ...looks just fine to me

Based on WD's comments on Horvat's style of play, I wouldn't expect to see Baer or Rodin on his line barring injuries. Horvat will be playing with the likes of Burrows, Hansen, Dorsett, Etem, Virtanen etc IMO. I could quite easily see Rodin and Granlund as 2/3 of an offensive 4th line though.

A lot will depend on how the trio of Burr/Virtanen/Rodin show at camp. He's likely going to have to leapfrog one, if not two of them to get a spot on the big club. Not impossible but no easy task.
  13. I love me some 'comedy-horror' Stuff like Evil Dead/Army of darkness or even From Dusk Till Dawn etc (though it does veer in to the gore territory). But true, quality horror movies like Kubrick's The Shining or Silence of the Lambs (veers in to suspense/mystery genre) or Alien (veers in to Sci-Fi) are few and far between IMO.
  14. Thought it was one. Could be wrong, my brain is tired lol.
  15. Merlot is french for 'middling' You need to get on to trying some Cab/Sav's, Malbec's, Pinot's etc.
  16. Don't blame you. There's very few quality, 'true' horror movies IMO. I personally have little patience for brain dead slasher stuff.
  17. One more year of London, then a year in Utica with some call-ups IMO...but we'll see.
  18. Been trying to find time to watch... Hard to squeeze in 2+ hour movies these days. I have a back log.
  19. Carol - 8.5/10 Extremely well done film. Both women are impeccable in their roles as you'd expect. Though I may be a bit biased as I can imagine Blanchett would be able to make belching and farting for two hours on screen seem elegant and exceedingly well acted. Mara, was every bit her equal albeit in her quieter, more reserved role. My one issue that I found equally interesting and irritating was that, particularly the beginning, it felt very loosely framed. Almost like it was a sequel with characters we were already expected to know. As such I felt less engaged at the beginning. Though I did find the 'window in to time/lives' style intriguing as the film got more meat on it's bones. All together a beautifully acted and written film though.
  20. The intern - 6.5/10 Pretty much what you'd expect. A sappy but enjoyable date night movie. The leads are charismatic, the story heart warming if mundane. Not sure it needed the husband twist though.

Virt may very well be in Utica, particularly if Rodin shows well. There just won't be space for him (or Burrows etc). That said, personally I think our 4th line is going to be more offense oriented. Something like Rodin, Granlund, Virtanen. Or Burrows, Granlund, Virtanen if they want a veteran presence/Rodin doesn't make it.
