  1. Well carry 8 D. Edler, Demers/Goligoski Sbisa, Tanev Hutton, Tryamkin Pedan, Larsen Beyond that, yes we'd need to move one of Edler or Sbisa to make larger changes.
  2. Not that this is likely to help much but... Try to understand that your family is just showing support for your sister and not attempting to slight or diminish what you've been through. That they love her and want to support her doesn't mean they don't love and support you too. On some level you probably you probably already understand that and in fact I wouldn't doubt if you do/will feel a tinge of guilt for those feelings. (As though you need another 'kick in the gut' right now!) That said, I can TOTALLY understand how much of a 'kick in the gut' that could feel like. Particularly with the wound still quite fresh. *Hugs* If we can help by being an outlet, sounding board, whatever... by all means. Better to get that $&!# out and deal with those emotions than letting them fester. Even if just on CDC.
  3. He's arguably our best prospect (until the draft anyway...and even then maybe still). You should probably care just a little.
  4. Yeah, I get what you're saying but we didn't really make any meaningful changes to our D core last summer either (largely because there wasn't much opportunity via cap space/UFA or presumably, trades). Hutton made our team partially because he was good enough but also because our D was really not that good other than a couple key guys. I mean yes he ended up being better than Weber, Bartowski etc but the only guy he really had to beat for a spot was a very mediocre Corrado who would have only been on the team as 8th D largely due to being a waiver risk... It also meant we ended up with less depth for injuries. I REALLY hope neither of those things are repeated personally. Now granted if Stetcher can still make the team AFTER fixing those issues, well then But if he makes it because we haven't.... J.R. =
  5. I don't think there's been as much opportunity or incentive to move him as our media would have you believe. Even if he is asked about moving on now (which is a BIG if, given he's still our best D), it would still be far more about where we are as an organization than any commentary on his abilities. That's also why I don't believe we'd move him for picks etc as many suggest. If he gets moved, it's part of a package that replaces his role with someone younger (and ideally, RH'd). A Hamonic, Gudbranson etc.
  6. Probably because the WCE never knew what any of those things were
  7. Only way we have room for him is if we trade one of Edler/Sbisa IMO. Trade or not, I hope Benning goes hard after one of the Dallas D (especially after the crap they pulled at the TDL with Hamhuis). Edler, Goligoski/Demers (Goligoski has/can play right side) Sbisa, Tanev Hutton, Tryamkin Pedan, Larsen (Sorry, Biega and Stetcher are in Utica IMO.) Now if we can move Edler (or Sbisa) for a younger, right side top 4 guy (Hamonic, Gudbranson etc)... THEN maybe there's room for Hamhuis on a 'cheap' hometown discount contract.
  8. I actually hope he doesn't make the team... Hear me out. Our D core needs a LOT of work. This summer we have the capacity to get a lot done in remodeling it. If Stetcher makes the team, that most likely means we've made very little or no improvement via UFA, trades etc. That makes J.R. sad That also means one less quality D in Utica to call up without waiver risk. And with our injury history, he WILL get called up. Less D depth also makes J.R. We're also pretty full up on bottom pair/spare D. Which is where he probably should be playing to start if he's even ready to play at this level. Having him on the team then would likely then mean some of those 'bottom 4' guys are playing in the top 4 and lead me back to my first point again... and would hence lead to making J.R. In short, Stetcher making the Canucks this year is pretty likely to make J.R.
  9. Serious. The kid's not going to walk in to the NHL at the deadline next season after we 'move Miller' as many are prognosticating. He may be one of the world's top goalie prospects but he's STILL JUST A PROSPECT and is going to take time to adapt to pro hockey. He'll likely take a good 20 games in Utica to get his footing and will spend next year in Utica likely splitting starts. The year following, he'll likely get the majority of starts and perhaps a call up or two. Third year, maybe he pushes for a backup role. This is not going to happen overnight folks...
  10. Can't wait for all the on CDC when he has a slow start in Utica and spends the better part of 2-3 seasons in the AHL...
  11. They wouldn't have been able to pay him any more than we would. He'd have to sign an ELC with ANY team which has caps on salary. We would still have held an advantage by being the only team he could have burned a year off that ELC by playing him at the end of next year which would have got him one year closer to a larger pay day. And why the hell would ANA need/sign another young goalie...?
  12. Ryan Biech ‏@ryanbiech 4m4 minutes ago Can confirm that Thatcher Demko has now officially signed his entry level deal with the #Canucks
  13. And he probably will sign this year. Reports are coming in that it's basically a technicality now.
  14. We're the only team that could sign him at the end of his college season next year and burn a year off his ELC by signing him.
  15. She talks too?! I mostly thinks she's pretty darned good looking. YMMV. Though she wouldn't dethrone the gal on the top of my 'list':
  16. At least we have some decent snow pack this year vs last. That was as much of a problem with our water shortage as the drought was.
  17. Played 30 games in 13/14 for EDM.
  18. FWIW, it's only been like 1.5-2 weeks. Also, Demko doesn't owe you or anybody else anything, particularly after only like 1.5-2 weeks. Take a deep breath. Go outside. It's a very nice day.
  19. That's an NHL'er on the 'Desi-scale'
  20. Did you view it how one would view Starship Troopers? Maybe watching J-Law just gets me in a generous spirit...
  21. Mockingjay 2 - 7/10 (though I think that's somewhat to do with low expectations ) Better than the first MJ as it felt a little more cohesive. Where that one seemed to have pacing issues and felt stretched, this one seemed to barrel along at a good pace as well. Still not going to wow anyone with it's intelligence or subtlety and it's still largely predictable and unsurprising at just about every turn That said, it's a half decent popcorn flick.
  22. I'd wager most of their muscle is down low in their legs/glutes/core. That's what makes them good skaters and hard to knock off the puck etc.
