  1. So we should trade our current core players but not let our prospects up to fill those spots? Have I got that right?
  2. Nobody's "handing" him anything. It's a forgone conclusion he'll need to earn whatever spot he gets, whenever he gets it. This coming year or not.
  3. Burrows/Higgins, Horvat, Santorelli...that's mycall for third line next year.
  4. Washington isn't exactly in a position to storm the East either FWIW. This smells of media trying to sell a story.
  5. Well no @#$% Bob even CDC has been saying that for ~ a month. Why does this feel like they're all just propping up their own tweets? How about some actual reporting guys?
  6. Yes Barry Trotz. He's no more a "defensive coach" than AV was before his team and players won Hart, Art Ross and President's cups.
  7. FWIW, you don't need elite 80+ point players on your first line if you have quality scoring depth throughout your lineup and from your D. Just look at the Bruins. Their top 5 scoring players are Krejci, Bergeron, Iginla, Lucic and Marchand with 69, 62, 61, 59 and 53 points receptively. And their D had Chara and Krug both at 40. This is why I keep telling people to look out in ~ 2 years. The twins will still likely be ~70 points, Kesler and Burrows ~40-50 then you add in the likes of Horvat, Shinkaruk, Jensen and Kassian who should be putting up decent 40+ points. They're positioned to be a pretty deep team with scoring on multiple lines moving forward.
  8. Watched Hobbit 2 / DOS last night. I won't go in to too much detail (as you guys have largely covered it already) but... -I too felt they glossed over Beorn (particularly given the films length and how much other stuff was added). -I actually liked Tauriel and thought she integrated in to the story well without taking away from the film...plus -Spider scene was great. -Barrel scene was good and I was wondering what all the fuss was about until the "magic barrel" portion...and I was like "oh" -Legolas was...meh most of him I didn't mind but some of his fight scenes just seemed like silly, useless fluff. -Smaug was really good but that section was a bit too drawn out. -The Dol-Guldur section seemed forced and unnecessary. Now the movie is enjoyable but it's definitely the weakest of the as yet available Middle Earth films IMO. 7/10
  9. Aww come on FDTD is a classic in all it's cheesy, gory glory!
  10. No way Nash fits under the cap.
  11. I'd still probably put it in 7-8 territory myself but I suppose that could change wqith a re-watch...it HAS been a while.
  12. You're making me want to re-watch them....quite enjoyed them at the time.
  13. To expose their weaknesses of course!
  14. lol...Where the heck did this come from?! Boston not wanting Benning to be involved in Canucks draft (something there's precedent for and contract law regarding) = demanding our 6th pick...?
  15. I actually enjoyed the word play! Buying out Lu would have been terrible asset management. Dollars were not remotely the primary concern there IMO. Gillis would quite possibly have been fired then and there if that was truly the only "out". Not arguing the situation wasn't a mess (it was). That still does not mean it was some shady conspiracy hatched in a backroom somewhere. At least not by the Canucks...
  16. Pretty much this. Their may be less quantity of quality players but a good player this year is just as good (in fact one year better) as a good player next year. The only major difference will be in later rounds and maybe later in the first round this year vs next. If we're talking 2nd round and later picks sure, go for 2015 ones. Anything ~top 15 this year I jump all over if I'm the Canucks.
