  1. First off, all teams/management are "secretive and contradictory". Second, that situation was borne out of a lack of other options, not some grand backroom scheme derived by a James Bond villain.
  2. What is the thought that next year's "will almost immediately surpass them" based on? Speculation, that's what. We're in the here and now. We have no idea where we'll be picking next year, whether the player we pick next year boom or bust etc etc. Be mindful of the future but not at the expense of the present.
  3. Next year will have better cell phones and TV's with newer features too. Should I hold off on buying either of those and have no TV or phone for the next year? Really you eventually either have to @#$% or get off the pot. We' have a 6th pick and possibly assets to move this year with good players available. Waiting will just prolong the re-tool unnecessarily and watch yet another year tick off the core in futility. Should we look to get as much out of next year's draft as possible? Absolutely! Should we do it at the expense of getting perfectly good players in this year's draft? Nope.
  4. B-but I thought Torts was the sole reason Kassian improved....?
  5. I'd love if we could get one of Draisaitl, DC, Kapenen etc AND Virtanen or Fleury
  6. Pretty sure it started when we traded Schneider for 9th pick and selected Horvat LAST summer.
  7. Buyout/trade Booth. Trade Hansen, Tanev+ to fill the 2nd line LW/C hole. Go hard after Niskanen this summer. Sedin, Sedin, Jensen/Burrows Trade, Kesler, Kassian Burrows, Horvat, Santorelli Higgins, Matthias, Richardson Sestito Hamhuis, Bieksa Edler, Niskanen Garrison, Weber/Stanton Weber/Stanton, UFA/prospect That coupled with actual, viable prospects playing in Utica next year and that team is miles better and deeper than this past year's. That 4th line is arguably better than this past year's 3rd. We'd basically have a 1A/B line then a 2A and 2B line and a 3rd line. Our 3rd and fourth lines also have a R and L hand centreman on each line as well. Ideally we get a LH centre to play on that second line as an option to the RH'd Kesler. That's a quality, deep forward group. As for our D, while we still lack a true #1D that offers far better balance than what we currently have and is deep as all heck. You've got a good shutdown pair, an offensive pair and a quality 3rd pairing that's good at everything (though great at nothing). All that's extremely doable even with NTC's etc.
  8. Later rounds? Maybe we snag a guy they have a line on for their third round pick as our second? Maybe we trade players for a late round 1st one pick before Boston and take "their" guy? Etc, etc...
  9. I personally thought how Lack played and dealt with the pressure of this market, his new role as starter and the team playing crappy hockey in front of him was actually a bright spot
  10. I think it's as simple as they don't want him participating in the draft as a Canuck with all the Bruins knowledge.
  11. I have yet to disagree with anything Sid posts.
  12. Frankly I'd be thrilled if "process" became his new favourite word
  13. People really need to stop whining about Torts being a "scapegoat". He may not have had tons to work with but he did a bad job with what he had. I repeat he did a BAD job. THAT is why he was fired today. He's simply a bad fit for this team that he coached poorly. And enough with the "I guess we'll fire a coach every year" garbage. AV was here damn near a decade, not one or two years. His firing and Torts hiring was a "Hail Marry" that simply failed. That is not a trend.
  14. I mentioned something along those lines and was basically called an idiot FWIW...lol
  15. lol the ignorance cup overfloweth in here today
  16. Just because the cracks were small, doesn't mean they weren't there. Also, the former had a lot to do with the latter.
  17. I wish people would just let it die already.
  18. Personally I'd go any of Perlini, Tuch or Virtanen before Ritchie but I'm still holding out hope for Draisaitl.
  19. I honestly don't comprehend how this sentiment even persists...yet it's still there

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

Are you paying the bill? It'd actually probably closer to $24/$25m but with Tanev it's going to be ~$22M anyway so not sure why that's an issue? Sorry about my contribution to the thread de-rail guys But yeah Gaunce... Utica next year and what do you think 4C or 3LW year after?
