  1. Sure, that too But IMO it's no coincidence that's when the playoffs end too...
  2. Was in the press conference this morning. Found it: http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/09/to-fire-torts-or-not-to-fire-torts-that-is-now-the-question-for-linden/
  3. Pretty sure Linden gave mid-June as the "deadline" for GM hiring for a reason...
  4. Boston will still be playing in mid-June?
  5. Again, I'm not saying that they'd outright say "no". Fully aware of the clause you mention. I'm just saying that they'd need to get permission to speak to him and that neither the team or perhaps even Benning would even want the distraction until his current team's season is over.
  6. They wouldn't decline outright but they may tell us we have to wait until they're eliminated/win the cup. Which would be their prerogative.
  7. Still need to get permission from Boston to even talk to him though... they may not be willing until their season is over.
  8. Oh absolutely agree. Just rather get things sorted sooner than later. The sooner we get moving forward with all the moving parts, the better IMO. Best way to build momentum
  9. Now I have two reasons to hope Boston gets knocked out of the playoffs sooner than later
  10. Found this on a Sabres forum yesterday while looking up info: http://sabrenoise.com/2014/01/07/jim-benning-right-guy-sabres-gm-job/
  11. You do realize you're contradicting yourself here right?
  12. Yup 1-2 top 6 players via UFA and/or prospects and the tweener guys currently filling those roles back on the bottom 6 where we belong. Another prospect/UFA or two to round out/improve the bottom 6 and actual viable prospects ready for a call up and we're looking a LOT better. IMO the biggest work needs to be done on clearing our logjam at D a bit. Somebody's got to go and ideally we get either an actual PMD or an actual #1 guy (Weber). WEBER!
  13. Still think Burr is retained as per Deb and Minister's comments above.
  14. So you're saying Linden's plan is to clone himself and fill the holes on the roster with young Linden's clones all on league minimum salaries?! Brilliant!
  15. Biggest differences next year will be: 1) Cap space. 2) More ready youth. Both of those equate to FAR better depth which was the biggest obstacle the team faced this year IMO.
  16. He also has zero GM experience. Benning will have some ties with the league power brokers from his years in Buffalo but more so Boston, has experience and has an EXCELLENT eye for drafting. He's also from BC and played not only for the Canucks but with Trevor. I don't know how anyone could be a better fit honestly.
  17. Well if he's so horrible, which team are we going to trade him to and for what brand of peanuts?
  18. Jim Benning. Played for the Canucks from 1986 to 1990 (with Linden for a couple of those years FWIW) Head of Scouting for Buffalo 1998 to 2004 Hired as Assitant GM of the Bruins in 2006
  19. A couple guys will likely move but the vast majority of it will be here and intact to be built around and surrounded by youth and talent.
  20. Shoot? I believe the word you were looking for is "yay". Benning please.
  21. Wouldn't be surprised about Kesler but I have a hard time believing any GM will get rid of Burrows so easily. Extremely versatile, hardworking 2 way player and is the defacto "fail safe" line mate for the twins should say Jensen (or Kassian, or UFA etc) be injured, slump.... That's not a piece you move too quickly IMO.
  22. Did Linden name Hank the GM already? Or is he still just the captain of the PLAYERS and hence his comments should be viewed in that context?
