  2. NEWS 1130 SportsVerified account ‏@NEWS1130Sports 5m5 minutes ago Talked with North Dakota coach Brad Berry about #Canucks draft pick Brock Boeser who has 18 goals in 26 games as a freshman. "He came in the summer and worked hard, he's a very humble hard working kid who has a shot first mentality." "He's a special player, I put him in that same category as Jonathan Toews and T.J. Oshie at ND, being a special player." Berry says like every young kid, Boeser needs to work on consistency, when you get to the NHL, you have to bring it every night.
  3. Ryan Biech ‏@ryanbiech 6m6 minutes ago #Canucks prospect Brock Boeser's 18 goals are U. North Dakota's most by a freshman since TJ Oshie (24) & Toews (22) in 2005-06 Very good company there!

  6. Demko injured, upper body injury, He could be out for a while http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2016/01/06/banged-hockey-team-adds-goaltender-ian-milosz/qMyMKAYnyw1TZoYhq7r0hK/story.html Mired in a three-game losing streak and banged up at key positions, the Boston College men’s hockey team officially added 6-foot-7-inch goalie Ian Milosz to the roster Wednesday. Milosz, who arrives on campus as a 20-year-old first-semester freshman, is expected in net Friday night when the Eagles, 0-3-0 in their last three games, take on the high-flying Providence Friars at Conte Forum. The two clubs play again Saturday night in Providence. Milosz, who has been playing for the Boston Junior Bruins, grew up in North Grafton and committed to join BC for the start of the 2016-17 season. But a recent injury to No. 1 goaltender Thatcher Demko accelerated the timeline. Demko, a junior and a 2014 Vancouver Canucks draft pick, is sidelined with what the club has termed only an “upper-body injury.” He was hurt in a Dec. 28 game vs. Ohio State, though he returned to play the full game the following evening, a 2-1 loss to the Friars. The Eagles aren’t certain how quickly Demko will make it back, but the hurried signing of Milosz could indicate that coach Jerry York and crew expect that his recovery could linger.
  7. These were the choices at the time, they wouldn't copy. 38% Jake Virtanen 26% Dylan Larkin 25% William Nylander 11% Nik Ehlers
  8. And now Team 1040 piles on! B-Mac Donnie & Moj‏@BMacDonnieMoj Poll Question: Who should the Canucks have taken with the 6th pick overall in the 2014 draft?
  9. That would be on the roster,he joined Team Canada on Dec.13 http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/canucks-jake-virtanen-loaned-to-team-canada-for-world-juniors/
  10. Much closer to 30 games, I don't know if he is on the roster for tonight That would put him at 39 games around the third week in Jan.
  11. Jake Virtanen ‏@Jake_Virtanen 4h4 hours ago Proud Canadian
  12. Personally, I don't see any problem with Jake going back to the Hitmen, It was on that team he became a 1st round 6th overall pick, the only reason I suggested a trade was because it was said that the team wants to keep a close eye on his eating, workouts and practice time, so obviously being in the west division would be preferred for Benning "Virtanen will be reporting back to the Canucks, initially. Whether or not he lasts the rest of the season with the team is a huge question, and it’s one the Canucks will be discussing for the next few days. The Canucks have set a deadline of Jan. 10 to reach a decision, which is, interestingly, the trade deadline in the WHL. There are plenty of good reasons for Virtanen to remain a Canuck. You can probably start at the fact that when his WHL season ended last year, he was near 230 pounds, about 15 pounds more than what the Canucks would consider his playing weight should be. “We have control of his environment, everything from his workouts to what he eats while he’s in the room,” Benning said. “We work with him after practice on skill development. And, I think, over the course of the first half of the year, he showed glimpses of the player we think he can be.” http://www.theprovince.com/sports/botchford+canucks+staying+course+with/11627537/story.html
  13. If Benning refuses to send Jake to CGY then the Hitmen get absolutely nothing If a trade with one of those 4 teams nets a draft pick and roster player for the Hitmen they are way ahead of nothing
  14. My count is Jake now has 30 games on the roster, after 40 games on the roster a year is burned off of his Free agent status, Burning a year of free agency is not best planning for the team although Virt's agent would be extremely pleased. Benning has 9 more games to evaluate whether to burn that year or not. It has been said that no 19 yr old players career has ever been ruined by being sent back to junior for his final season, but many have had their career's setback or ruined by being rushed into the NHL before they are ready. I can see little benefit to burning a year of F/A by rushing Jake back when he is not ready. Hopefully the Hitmen can trade him to a more local team(VAN, KAM, VIC, or KEL,)
  15. Wasting a year of free agency (after 40 games) when he is not ready for the NHL is not the best use of the teams assets! I think letting him finish the season on the Hitmen and then he gets a chance to earn a spot on the Canucks in training camp or let him start in Utica next season and work his way onto the big club. This would be better for Jake and the Club Just my opinion, I don't see any reason to have to rush Jake into the lineup
