2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

A normal pairing would have 1 of each. Absolutely. But when one of those people is a complete defensive liability, who can score and that is it, it becomes babysitting for the defensive partner. Subban isn't close to NHL ready, and people are saying just pair him with Tanev and let him fly. Thats a total waste of tanev and his shutdown ability. -

Why tho? You shouldn't have to partner someone up with another who's job will be to make up for the others mistakes all the time. -

I really hope we pick this kid. He is a straight up sniper who plays defence. The kid can score and make plays. No doubt. He also has sick hands. He is also easily one of the best skaters in the draft. The first pass is just beautiful. We have never had someone who can send the puck up like that. We have some really fast young forwards. Could you imaging them getting those passes all the time? Sure, has has some work to do on his decision making skills and his Dgame, but what 18 year old doesn't? That doesn't concern me at all. If you want to play the speed game in this league, you NEED guys like this on your blue line. The speed and the passing skill he has, keeps teams on their heels and forces more mistakes. Dont forget he can go straight to the AHL. -

I have turned around on Glass, and would now be pretty happy with him, but I just can't get behind Makar. Im just not convinced he can translate his offensive prowess to the NHL. -
Looks like you are correct. This is newer news than I have seen. That's too bad. I liked my answer better! Hahah

He only signed for 1 year

I don't want to get into an agreement against the kid. I like his offensive potential. But he isn't Duncan Keith, so what does that have to do with anything. The kid looks small out there. He plays a smaller style game. And has shown he is scared to play physical with men. I just really dont don't like that kinda player. Doesn't sound like a kid who is going to live up to potential to me. -

I know you dig his game, and I'll admit his skill is fantastic. But this team does not need another Subban. The kid is small. Straight up. He's small. He also admitted to choosing the league he did because of his small size and not being ready to play against the big kids. A lot of his ability is because of his lesser competition. Also a huge red flag for me that this kid is scared to play with the big kids. I have major doubts he can he can translate to the NHL. No room for being scared in the bigs, and those guys are huge. He isn't getting close to the size you stated. -

I feel bad for JB in this years draft. There are too many options to go with. Even if he picks a good one, there are going to be at least a couple better available and Jim is going to get torn apart. Its gonna be Jake and Ehlers all over again. We end up with a really good prospect, but the other guy arrives sooner, so the fans lose it and say the kid is a bust, jim is a joke. Either way, we end up with a good player, and either way, JB gets ripped up for his decision -

I'm not sure it is worth it. We are going to end up with a great player. I don't think the difference between say Liljegrin and Patrick is Tanev. -

Trade our 5th overall pick plus one of our top prospects for a damn near washed up a**hole in his 30's? The Bogo trade is dumbsauce as well. Dude. Keep this crap in the proposals threads with the rest of the kids -

Good enough for me! 3 spins, 2 wins. Seriously though, How the hell do you guys have time to sit there and run that thing 100 times? -
Lol. Sorry champ. Green was one of the most honest about Subban this year. Always very nicely says, he is a great guy and works hard, but has a long way to go to make the bigs. I think with Green, Subbans chance just got smaller as coach green knows exactly what he has in Subs

When do we know if we get Columbus' 2nd round pick? -
Why would we give up that much value for nothing? That would be a very stupid idea. Stupid.

That was a good video! I watch most Utica games this year, and have been really paying attention to Jake. I just don't know what to say about the kid. There were times where he would dominate. There were times where he was lost and the worst player on the ice. The kid isnt stupid. He knows the game. At least enough of it to give you the hope he will figure it out. He really isn't bad defensively. Pretty good at it when he tried. He showed enough defensive skill to show me that even if the points don't end up showing, he can be a great 3rd liner energy guy. Offence, it's up in the air. The kid can skate. Damn can he skate. He backs up Dmen and puts them on their heels. His shot is fantastic. Big league style wrister. My problem with him is he doesn't see the ice well in the O-zone. He takes a lot of shot from bad angles. A lot. Sure a couple will go in, but they are bad percentage shots a lot of the time. He is a shoot first player for sure, and because of that and the quality of his shot, I feel the goals will start going in. He takes a lot of bad shots from the outside with out even looking to see an open teammate. He will never be a big assist guy. This season he showed huge improvements. He is a better pro now. He is in better shape. (I think a lot of this was bad communication with management). And most importantly, he is trying to keep his feet moving on the ice. Damn was he lazy when he started in Utica. Total floater. Waited for the play. Now he is using his big body to try to make a play instead.

For me, easily Liljegrin. I love watching the kid play. He is an incredible skater. The thought of having two possible #1 Dmen in Liljegrin and Juolevi gets me pretty stoked about the future. -

So you heard from a guy on the internet. Legit. It may sound crazy, but I had the Canucks picking Juolevi too. Does that make me an insider? I just really dont see the canucks going that far off the board with the 3-4 pick. I'd put money them picking Liljegrin after number 2 -

That's quite the claim there. Have you seen said list? Where is this list and how have you seen it? -
What about the argument we all use when talking about power forwards who apparently need more time to develope. This kid seems to be playing the power forward role pretty damn good as a rookie.

His d game really isn't that bad. I'm a huge 'Dmen should play D first' kinda guy, but after hearing about Liljegrin from my dad, I decided to scout him. His potential is unreal. The kid skates like no other. He is as mobile as I've ever seen a dman and would change the look of ourbd core totally in 2 years. He walks the line like a 10 year pro. He could turn our garbage PP into something special. I had him at #3. For me, 1-Patrick/Hischier 2-Patrick/Hischier 3-Liljegrin 4-Vilardi/Middlestat 5-Vilardi/Middlestat that is how I'd pick. Id be through the roof happy with any of these 5, but I guess this is how I'd go. -
