  1. Looks like they got tired of Linden being on the top of all these lists so they moved the cut off to exclude him.
  2. Half expecting the league giving us 25th spot based on last year’s playoffs because Covid gave us an unfair advantage in the draft order
  3. For a League supposedly concerned about head injuries, plays like that are a disgrace
  4. Liked Stewart too but had a habit for make up calls, one of which likely cost the Canucks a chance for another run at the cup in 96. Weak penalty called late in the 3rd period of game 5 let the Aves tie the game which they later won in OT. Both Linden and Sakic had hat-tricks that game. Canucks up 3-2 after game 5 could have changed history. But the Aves win in OT win game 6 and roll over everyone else on their way to their first cup.
  5. That’s a 2 drink primer per Vintage in the BigMack suspension thread
  6. As a primer 2 drinks for every game BigMack gets and 1 for a fine You can drink if McD dives an finish your drink if he actually gets called for it
  7. Do I really need to say it?
  8. I tried to get this going in the GDT: Vintage is chasing 100,000 while McDavid is chasing 100. Let’s get Vintage to 100,000 first Guidelines for fairness to McD Vintage: don’t spam post Everyone else: try to keep it in the present Side game for the adults: everytime you see or hear 100 pts for McD take a drink
  9. We’ve come into alignment First mega star level year since crosby’s 66 in 41 back in 10-11. That’s to be celebrated
  10. Using your method with the actual numbers (check your 9%) and going into the detail of breaking it down by Atlantic (no Pit) 960 GA 328 games gaa 2.927 Rest East 2328 GA 820 games gaa 2.839 West 3238 GA 1230 games 2.633 gaa 24*2.927=70.24 40*2.839=113.56 18*2.633=47.38 =231.2/82=2.819 fudge that to your narrative however you want. source: Hockey-Reference.com And what forward group? Straka? Lang? I give you Jagr, Mario and Kovalev (Comparable to TO’s big three) After Hrdina’s 46 points at 6th they dropped done into the 20s in points. Mario came out of retirement because they were struggling and Pittsburg was at risk of losing their team not for glory. I do give you that the Cap killed Colorado
  11. To start, not once have I been negative towards Conner and have agreed that this season is comparable to a past great. I have also stated that he’s got the potential to repeat and get up there in the realm of Wayne, Mario and Orr. I honestly hope he does because it can only be good for the game. As for the numbers 00-01 east vs west doesn’t change 00-01 east vs 20-21 North East GAA without Pit was 2.82 North Without Edm is 2.99 Thats a ratio of 1.06 For sv % .8991 for the east .9017 for the north thats a ratio of 0.997 the impact of save% is less than GAA and you’d need to fudge sv% a lot to adjust it to defensive systems between eras to make up the difference. The uncertainties are in the noise and I still don’t get why can’t accept both achievements can be great and how conner has to repeat it multiple times to be held in the same light as Wayne, Mario and Orr.
  12. Did not discount any goalie as I used team level sv % so no lies. The data is there go figure it out
  13. Dead puck era = tighter checking = less shots = lower GAA between eras
  14. You made me do it. Using your own arguments on Lemieux’s easy time in the east. (You brought GA to a sv% fight) East averages 01-02 (No Pit) Sv% .8991 (League .901) GAA: 2.816 North averages 20-21 (No Edm) rest of the league has no influence on McDs season Sv% .9017 (League .904) GAA 2.991 00-01 McD 90.6 pts in 52 games 1.743,ppg spectacular! Mario 76 pts in 43 games 1.767 ppg mind numbing in context of being 35 (credit you for the correction) not playing for 3 years and nagging injuries that forced him retire 20-21 McD 96 pts in 52 games 1.842 ppg Mario 80.5 pts in 43 games 1.872 ppg As I said previously it’s a wash and in my mind, on a single season comparison basis, what Mario did was more impressive. 24 year old healthy Conner is comparable to a 35 year old battered Mario. I take a 24 year old healthy Mario over Conner, at least until Conner shows he can sustain it over the next 10 years
  15. Sorry man, came in the cross hairs at the wrong time. Totally agree, so much is different it’s hard to compare. Imagine Bure without the redline...
  16. I hear you but personally I think dead puck era was due to expansion as much as anything. The influx of Iron curtain European stars helped to stem the watering down of the top end of line-ups but the growth of the league in the latter half of the 90s really spread talent thin and bottom end of line ups were filled with AHL level players. The subsequent defensive system were as much to do with that than anything. The expansion drafts of those years were nothing like what the NHL gave Vegas and now Seattle
  17. I rewatched some 94 playoffs games about 2 years ago when I was back west. The Hockey was just as fast in my opinion and a lot tighter (think obstruction) and meaner. It’s country club in comparison today.
  18. Funny how these guys only think backwards, think what the greats of the past could do with today’s tech, knowledge and training
  19. Lol,I was not alive back then, just curious. I watched these guys play and they were all great goalies and they’d be great goalies today. There were a fair number of starters with great sv% that year. Did you look at the north save% most are pretty bad this year relative to the modern norm and below the top #1 goalies of 00-01 WPG starter: .915 TO starting duo: .909 VAN starting duo: .907 MTL staring duo: .905 CGY starter: .904 OTT starting duo: 0.888 00-01 20 goalies with 39+ games at >= 0.905 13 goalies with 39+ games at >= 0.910 7 goalies with 39+ games at >= 0.920 So in the context of your argument I would say Mario faced similar or better goaltending than Conner this year without having to actually resort to the fact that I’ve experienced both eras and can tell you those guys were just as lights out as what we see today and arguably more so because they filled significantly less net and still achieved crazy numbers
  20. You’d think we had burnt down the White House or something after the fox comet puck.
  21. All this “when will McDavid hit 100” blah blah, You are all missing the more important question When will Vintage clock 100,000? Can we make it happen before McDavid hits 100?
  22. I had blocked that from my mind. Disney really murdered hockey for the masses.
