[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
ABNuck replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Hey Alf...haven't chatted for awhile. I explained why I put the values as I did, why do you place them where you do? (ie/ Miller worth more, Boeser worth less) -

Rights to Rust or gamble he makes it to F/A? -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

1/ Miller is not worth as much as you think 2/ Boeser is worth more than you think You have to think like other team's GMs. - Where are we in our rebuild, compete level? (NJ is a perfect fit for Boeser right now) - Where will we be after our current core (contenders) ages out? Do we want to carry another anchor contract as we enter a rebuild after competing? - What assets are we willing to give up (ie/ give up a future piece to compete now vs. slowly build to contender...how close are we)? If you're Fitzgerald, you're not looking to compete next year. You've got Hughes (21), Hischier (23), Mercer (20) and Zacha (25)...add BB (25) and you've got the start of a solid core that will be together for 4-5 years +. If you're Drury, your compete window is now (they're one game away from the ECF)...JT fits their timeline perfectly. If they can snag him for a player who won't play for them and a 2nd (or possibly a 1st), you do it. But name another GM right now that's in the same position who'd be willing to spend on JT and let him walk if he doesn't fit the future plans? It make JT's market rather thin. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
ABNuck replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Boeser has more value (younger, with potential) than Miller. JT only has value next year...needs to go to a team that's on the precipice but couldn't care less if he walks the following year. JT's devaluing aspects are his age, production, current salary vs. age, possible declining production (when?) valued against the contract/term that he will want. He effectively only becomes a 1 year rental for a potential contender. All other GM's will be thinking the same thing...how much will JT cost me after next year, and am I really willing to part with much future just for that rental. Kravtsov is a throw away piece for them so the cost to get into JT is very reasonable for them. If their 2nd doesn't get upgraded to a 1st (depending upon tonight's outcome) then we could always ask for Vitali + their 1st...if they were willing to gamble on it once (trading for Copp to upgrade their chances), they may be willing to do it a second time to upgrade their chance again next year with JT. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

My predictions: JT to NYR for Kravtsov & their 2nd (if available - conditional pick dependent upon if they win tonight) BB to NJD for their 2nd O/A (pick Jiricek) Myers to OTT for Tierney (if he/agent agree to sign in VAN)...mainly a cap dump for us, gives OTT something in return for a player they may lose to F/A anyways. Gives us 2 / 15 in round 1 and a late 2nd (again, if NYR beats CAR tonight). Leaves us with Kravtsov for a middle 6 role, Tierney for 3C and Jiricek as a partner for OEL in year 1 / QH in year 2 (stick with QH-Schenn partnership for next year) Frees up about 17mil to sign Kravtsov (~3.0mil per) and Tierney (~3.5mil per), leaving 10mil avail for...? Forsberg? Rust? Burakovsky? Nichushkin? Maybe even Nino? Not sure how far down we'd have to go with the offers before he hit on another middle 6 F. Obviously Forsberg and Rust are Top6 but the rest are middle 6...there is a connection with this group and Rust so...? -
Will one of the classiest guys who ever wore the Maple Leaf for Canada retire? He's sitting at 982 career points...I think he'll re-sign for 3rd line centre type money (2-3.5mil) and get his 1000th point...just not 100% it'll be with Boston. Would we take PB for 3mil for one season just to stick it to the Bruins?

Habs Deal Their 1st OA (Discussion)
ABNuck replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Sorry, I thought you were comparing to the current situation (team with 1 OA is hosting). But based on the circumstances (Montreal needs a #1 C AND they have the consensus #1 pick at their finger tips AND they are hosting in an absolute hockey mad environment), I'm gonna go ahead and state with 100% certainty, Montreal picks at #1. -
Habs Deal Their 1st OA (Discussion)
ABNuck replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Draft was in Boston, not TB. -
Nothing gets done until pick #6 is announced...THEN if either Nemec or Jiricek (preferred) are available at 7 then we bid Myers and the 15 O/A adieu. Sens get a RHD + whatever they pickup for the 15th. Doubt they even sniff at that but hey, OTT is not exactly known for their trade prowess. Realistically I see it being more of a fit for either NYR, DET or LAK to jump up...they have more assets to spare.

Is that an "odd" number 11? Well, um, no. We can't have the Canucks getting the number 1 pick so we'll just go ahead and say that was an "even" number...a Roman 2.

Luneau...if he's available at 15. Ride the tandem of Hughes and Luneau for the next decade...and 5 cups

And change the team name to the Vancouver Senators

One player is not going to win the WC, it takes a team...Team USA is hot garbage. They have Seth and Caleb Jones on D as well as Nate Schmidt. Up front they've got Galchenyuk, Gaudette, Hayden and Watson (all depth players in the NHL)...the rest are AHL / press box commandos. Their goaltenders are backups. I only hope that some additional players step up as they get eliminated from the playoffs, otherwise the USA program is gonna suffer some embarrassment...not that any other team is particularly strong, I just don't think a team of depth NHL'ers (save for the Jones' and Schmidt) plus a few AHL'ers will have the depth to beat Canada in the end. Based on their pool draw, I don't think USA even gets past Sweden or Finland in their own pool IMHO...they just got an unlucky draw, tougher path to Semis. Again, my hope for each of the top tier teams (Canada, USA, Sweden & Finland) is that, since the players did not get the chance to rep their country at the Oly's, they will step up for the World's...we'll see...

TBH, I'm sure a lot of folks don't know who he is. The fact that you would come on here to specifically say "Who?" is intentional to parlay the fact that since you don't know him, he must be a nobody. Otherwise, if your true intention was to really find out who he was, then you could use NHL.com, HockeyDB, EliteProspects, etc etc...literally 100's of ways to get that answer. So I think the reply was in response to your smart-a$$ comment...if you're gonna make 'em, you gotta take 'em. EDIT: Oh, and it might not be big news to you, but it just might be to him and his family, and the Flyers fanbase. But I guess you're the gatekeeper and editor for all stories related to hockey? There's my smart-a$$ comment for the day...what you got for me?

This was mine...didn't take long for this thread to get to it...page 1 baby!

MVP - Miller...duh. MOST EXCITING - Demko...ask around the league, other team's players probably see some of his saves in their nightmares...like how tf did he save that? BEST D - Hughes...duh. UNSUNG - Horvat...the puts up 31 goals and some fans want to trade him or aren't sure if we should re-sign him for much...gimme a break.

1. Draft a top end RHD (Jiricek, Nemc, Luneau or Lameroux) 2. Trade Myers once we have our RHD from the draft in place 3. Re-sign Miller (costs us 3.5mil extra...8.75 x 6yrs) 4. Re-sign or trade Boeser (costs us 750k extra...forget the QO, get him to re-sign for 6.5mil or less) 6.00mil OUT / max 4.25mil added per above + RHD on ELC = net savings of about 850k Saved 750k on BU goalie, 1.00mil if Ferland retires (I believe we are still charged 2.75mil against cap), Sutter's 1.125, +600k offset for dead cap (Luongo OFF / Holtby & Virtanen ON) = about $4.25mil available. I believe we still have some bonus recapture charged against us next year but we should still have about $3mil to go get a decent 3C. The rest of the positions coming off the books (Richardson, Chiasson, Petan, Dries & Hunt) are all positions that will need to be filled anyways, so no savings there. Overall we're actually not in too bad of a situation financially. Top 9F: Pettersson, Miller, Boeser (or traded in player), Garland, Horvat, Podkolzin, Pearson, Hoglander, new 3C or Dickinson Top 5D: QH, Schenn, drafted RHD, OEL, McDermott EDIT: I forgot that the extra 3.5mil for Miller won't kick in until 2023-24 so we'll actually have about 6.5mil available this offseason...surely we can find a decent 3C for about 2.0-2.5mil and then bolster our RHD position with the additional 4-4.5mil? Miller or Stecher?

If the Canucks make the playoffs this year I will _____

I will try to remember where I parked the DeLorean so we can start this thread over. -
Mine was just the 750, but went like Chinese buffet through your intestines.
