  1. I haven't reviewed all of the potential draft positions / picks as they've been presented in this thread, so I apologize for any repetition here...I think we'll be drafting in the 13-15 slot. I'm interested in a big R Dman to complement Hughes for years to come...our version of Keith / Seabrook. If available when we pick, I'd like: 1 - David Jiricek (will probably go 7-10 range so will be gone) 2 - Tristan Luneau (should be in the 12-16 range so he will probably be our best shot). He's 6-2 190# right now, so expect 6-3 200# range when developed. 3 - Maveric Lamoureux (will go around 20-25 so we could take him early, or possibly trade down - but that is a dangerous gamble). Maveric would be a direct replacement for Myers (6-7 200#). Anyways, just my 2 pennies on who / what we should draft.
  2. Back on March 31st I said 8-3-2...so far we're 2-0-1 since then...6-3-1 to go
  3. Yeah, I was being a bit facetious with the jersey toss stuff...more of a dig at fans that do that sort of thing (hence the emoji). But I do see your point TM protection...was just stating that over here in the flatlands plenty of companies, right or wrong, do fly "pro" team colors on their company vehicles ("pro" intentionally in quotes as we are talking mainly about Calgary and Edmonton teams...I must, nay I am duty bound, to jab at them at every opportunity).
  4. I think that the Canucks kind of give up any legal rights to come after anyone when they sell a plethora of vehicle related fan paraphernalia on their website. Plenty of company trucks over here in Alberta with Lames and Coilers stickers, flags etc...even some who flat out state that their company "proudly supports" whoever (insert NHL / CFL team here). So you're probably OK with just putting your company logo etc on the truck, then slap a few Nux stickers on the tailgate. I feel like if a person purchases a Pro sports team's gear, then they can pretty much do what they want (obviously nothing illegal)...heck you can even toss your purchased and logo'd jersey onto the ice if you want
  5. Playoffs look slim...BUT...we do have a pretty easy schedule for the rest of the season, all teams we can beat. I say 8-3-2 (18pts) for the balance, we finish with 91pts. Definitely not enough to make the playoffs but will for sure push us back to about the 15 pick as many have predicted here.
  6. I am 100% not ashamed to watch my beloved Canucks on a free website. I REFUSE to give Rogers one dime of my cash...they can go have intercourse with themselves after they remove their craniums from their back doors. Rogers has done nothing for the game of hockey except take it away from the common folk. When we lost Hockey Night in Canada, a traditional long standing Canadian household staple for decades, that's when I knew Rogers was going to push their way through the crack in the door, and here we are. It's not called the NHL anymore, it's called the RHL. I give Bettman kudos for many of the good things he's done, but to give away the TV rights to the highest bidder essentially took away the game from everyday Canadians like me...ticks me off! Anyways, a buddy just told me of another site "onhockey.tv"...I'll try it for the next game...GO CANUCKS!!!
  7. Not sure if this is the correct forum for this or not, but does anyone know if NHL66.IR is off the internet airways? I can't seem to hook up anymore. Just started over the last 24 or so hours.
  8. ^THIS^ Teams have capspace in the summer, not so much so right now. Sometimes you can extract better value from a team that's willing to spend on their middle (middle 6F / middle 4D). The only places that had Miller, Boeser, Garland etc going anywhere was in the media and here on CDC. The argument was that their value is enormous due to the awesome contracts / term they have, so why don't we keep them? Worst thing ever is to go into TDL on a bit of a losing streak...everyone wants a head on a stick. If this team performed the way it has under BB from the start of the season, we'd be buyers right now ready for a deep P/O run. Let's just see where this team is at next fall with BB at the helm from the start...then we can make a better assessment at the next TDL, again, no guns to our heads right now, just from the media and from the fans. I have faith in this management team, they know stuff we don't. Maybe there have already been talks with Boeser's rep team, maybe there's been talks with Motte's rep team...all things that we and the media have no knowledge of, nor any rights to knowledge of.
  9. Ever seen a truck after it's been in a train wreck...it takes a while to fix, and as I mentioned above there's absolutely no gun to our head. We have a few players on really nice contracts right now, contracts that other teams would like...so why not us?
  10. Not sure if mentioned, but wasn't Sutter back to skating last week? Maybe he won't be back at all this year so we just filled his PK slot with a solid option.
  11. We don't have to re-sign him, we have him for one more year. He could be moved in the summer or at next year's TDL or anytime in-between...no gun to our heads on anyone except Motte really.
  12. JT Miller = Alex Burrows! Heart and soul!
  13. You stole mine! Tis OK, I'll double-down...4-2 Lames / Calle with the GWG
  14. Thinking the same thing...even if we level off at a .667 pace for the remainder (which is close to where I think this team is when fully healthy and from the start of the season...would have us in top third of the league), we'd only finish with 94 points...probably not enough to get us in (we'd be sitting 9/10 spot in West). Maybe time to sell a few pieces, take a step back next year to take a huge leap forward the following year...matches JR's 2 year timeline, and kinda resembles the NYR re-tool, look where they are, playing .669 hockey, top third.
  15. Big Rebs fan here! I was gonna mention the obvious Sutter connection but looks like a couple posters already beat me to it.
  16. Tacos...it's taco night. My arse will feel it tomorrow...I'll be catching the "red-eye"
  17. I...ummm...oof, this is awkward to have to tell you this but, yeah, Demko is #1, by far, I mean like, by light years he's #1. I'm just really hoping that either you're kidding around with us, or you're 6...in which case, go to bed!
  18. Ah, sorry missed that . But yeah, I hate taking steps backwards, just to take steps forward and end up in the same place we're at now. I get that you want to gamble on one of the other players and hope they become a top 6 player, but I'm much more comfortable in a retool situation to not take any steps backwards...keep at least the same number of top 6 players AND add that hopeful prospect that could turn into another one makes me far more hopeful for the future than 2 steps back, 2 steps forward. But again, as stated, if I'm Vancity's GM I'm not shopping Boeser, I'm taking calls.
  19. Rodrigues...3rd line depth player 5'11" 183lbs 119pts in 285 games career -27 (played in Buffalo) Mantha...1st line player 6'5" 234lbs 208pts in 326 games career -26 (played in Detroit) Both players played on poor teams (Buffalo and Detroit)...difference is, Rodrigues could barely crack the lineup on a poor team whereas Mantha is a top 6 player at minimum on any team. If you're giving up a top 6 player, you need to replace him. As it is we only have 5 actual top 6 players (Pettersson, Miller, Horvat, Boeser, Garland). If we give up another one then we're back to days when we had a 1st line and 2 - 3rd lines...we're actually making forward progress right now, let's not slide backwards. Mantha replaces Boeser and Lapierre becomes that future hopeful to replace Miller as he ages out. Thus far, Pearson, Hoglander and Podkolzin have shown to be very solid 3rd line depth scorers...I like them, but I don't know if 2 of the 3 will translate to top 6 NHL'ers...I'd be happy if 1 of them did...then we'd have a solid top 6 with Lapierre working his way into the top 6 in the future.
  20. In response to my own question above I did find 2 instances: In 2001 - Chara from NYI to OTT...Chara was 24 at the time and had not yet fully established himself as a top defender In 1978 - Randy Carlyle from TML to PIT...Carlyle went on to win a Norris As for the Shea Theodore thing, well, a lot of teams got fleeced by VGK, not just ANA. But I would put that as a black mark against their management at the time, poor asset management and poor scouting as to Theodore's future ability. And in the same light, I guess the jury is still out on Vince Dunn to the Krackheads...STL might regret that one down the road as well, but then again, he might just pan out to be solid top 4 guy...not necessarily a stud. Top young stud d-men just don't get traded...until they're 30+
  21. I'm racking my brain to try and think of a time when a future stud d-man was ever traded, for anything. Help me out CDC, when was the last time that a top d-man prospect was traded, and what was the return?
  22. I can see why Washington does this, but explain to me why WE would want to do this? We're trading a loonie for 4 quarters here. Evan Rodrigues is inconsistent and certainly is not a top 6 player on a contending team...so he certainly isn't going to help us be one...and he's 28. Michal Kempny isn't at all an upgrade on any bottom pairing d-man we have right now...in fact, as of right now (at age 31) he's a fringe NHL'er. Hendrix Lapierre obviously becomes the centrepiece of the trade. He's 20...check. He is gifted at the CHL level...check. But he is far from being a lock...essentially we would be trading a known, producing young player (Boeser is 24) raised in our system who can play in ANY team's top 6, for a maybe, a hopeful. Young players like Lapierre are best drafted and raised within the same system. Once proven then their trade value goes up (just like Boeser's)...if I was going to trade for Lapierre it would have to be an equivalent level prospect, someone that would be just as big a chance as he might be. It happens but it's not that common that young top 6 forwards get traded for prospects...more likely TDL rentals (a 29+ year old player that helps a team over the top) that get traded for prospects. Obviously the better the rental, the better the prospect in return. If Washington called with this deal, I'd say no. And if I was the GM for Vancouver, it's not what I'd ask for in return for Boeser. Maybe more like Mantha + Lapierre for Boeser + 2nd, but again, I'm not calling them...if they want Boeser then they can present to me, they're the buyer...make an offer.
