I agree, from the looks of it he's probly sumwhere around 175-80...anyone confirm his weight?...but imo he needs to put on 15lbs atleast before he can have success at nhl level.

Loui has better finish than rodin in my opinion but rodin is bit more physical. I would expect rodin to get somewhere around 40-50 pts in AHL. He could do better depending on how his linemates do but jus like eriksson I doubt he gets a game with the canucks this year unless the injury bug hits us hard at forward position instead of defence like last year. Anton does have the skill and does play a style of game AV likes but he would really have wow the coaches to get spot out of camp. This would be the best case scenario but realistically he plays full year with wolves and challenges next year for sure.

I've been a big fan of Rodin since we drafted him but I think it would be realistic to assume he doesn't play a single game with canucks this upcoming season. He will probably have an average season with the wolves just because of the fact that AHL season will be a grind to say the least compared to SEL. Rodin did have some issues with consistency this year but he should be a solid contender next year. Hopefully people don't panic and start calling him a bust if he doesn't meet their high expectations.
  4. Schroeder should have a better season. The kid has too much skill and pride to have 2 letdown years back to back especially this early in his career. Addition of rodin should only help him. This is way too early to say schroeder has been a disspointment. I would just write this season off as sophomore slump and nothing more. Craig button is just looking at a name and numbers and making assumptions.

lol this kid was playing against men this past year and now knows what it takes to succeed at that level and we shouldnt be shocked if he is our best prospect forward next to schroeder in the rookie tourney.

oh man, really had my hopes up about seeing him try to make the big club this year but i guess top 6 minutes in the SEL would be valuable for his development. would he be elibible to play in the next WJCs??

this kid already had amazing skill and now that he has some size to go along with it puts him along with cody and jordan as the best prospects we have. the rookie camp will be a delight to watch with all the promising young talent we have finally accumulated.

the kid has a wicked wrister
  13. both of those are pretty fair comparisons to throw out there for now. he does have the skill set of Plekanec but hopefully a better attitude than him.
  14. you seem to be loving that the most. a guy that's on here 24/7 and always ready to bash luongo or hodgson or anyone not named Kesler for that matter.
  15. hodgson and schroeder will most likely play the whole preseason and should be the finals cuts unless they outplay wellwood/grabner to earn spots on the team. as for Rodin, he still hasn't played pro in north america even though he did play pro in sweden so that might hold him back a year from actually contending for a roster spot. Walsky might be heading to europe and Rai has yet to play a single pro game so i wouldn't expect him to be at the same level as schroeder or hodgson. as of now, if healthy hodgson and schroeder should have an intense competition among themselves to earn a spot, which could make for a very exciting pre-season. IMO hodgson gets at least 9 games at the beginning of the year to show his stuff in NHL.
  16. Really? this is the first time i have ever heard the word lazy used in the same sentence as schroeder. hard working and committed seems to come up more often than not.
  17. 12-15 min a night in the NHL are more valuable than 20-22 min in the AHL. im not saying he should be on the roster no matter what but i wouldn't want to see him sent down just because he would have to be the third line guy and not top 2 even though that's the role he will be in for the following year and the next few years.
  18. what exactly is wrong with being the third line centre? this is the new NHL, the good teams have 3 lines that can score and having a young guy in that spot where he is not relied upon heavily to provide offense is the best possible situation for his development. both cody and jordan are certainly smart enough defensively to not look out of place playing in their own zone and not playing against the top d-men of the other teams can only make the transition easier into the league.
  19. it would be good to have wellwood and hodgson or one of the other young guys compete for that one spot but what if he gets outplayed. we sign him to another one year deal and he gets outplayed then we are stuck with him for the year because i don't see a market for him out there. MG most likely tried to get a return for him this year and probably got nothing of value offered back, so rather than having him take up a roster spot and wait for an injury to have him slot back in I'd rather have a younger guy gain experience and become a part of the team sooner than later. it's never a bad thing to give a kid the chance to prove himself and i do think hodgson could very well outplay welly and wouldn't count schroeder out either even though i would like to see jordan play wing. if you're looking at FA, theres not much that's going to be out there for the third line C position. A few guys that might be worth a look, (halpern, belanger, steen, moore) would probably not be much of an improvement over welly and others like Malhotra and Cullen who would be great additions but are not likely to leave their current teams.
  20. puck handling can only do so much for you and even less when you hold on to it too long and turn it over trying to make a silly pass as we saw on more than a few occasions this series. I do think that Schroeder might converted to wing, should probably be an improvement over raymond, but might take another year in AHL. That being said i think the team gives Hodgson or even Bliznak a chance to earn that spot next year before looking at bringing in a FA. bliznak is better suited for 4th line C if RJ isnt back next year but i don't see him getting let go. This coming up off-season just might be one the most exciting one's for the team since core is in tact and we have quite a few contracts running out (welly, demo, SOB, RJ, Raymond and willie) and young guys close to making the jump (grabner, hodgson maybe even schroeder and bliznak).
  21. i would much rather have a rookie like Schroeder or Hodgson playing on the third line and live with their ups and downs than see an "experienced" guy like wellwood have another on-again and off-again season. we have given welly 2 years and in these two years he has done the same thing over this time and only the consistency he showed was his nack for inconsistencies.

Great news. just awesome getting this kid in North America, give him a chance to get used to the style of play and get lot more minutes playing against men. moose got the offense they were looking for in Schroeder and now rodin and maybe hodgson can play sometime in playoffs as well.
  23. i wouldn't mind seeing schroeder take up raymond's spot on the second line and have kesler and grabner as his linemates. hell of a second line or even on PP put schroeder on point and hodgson as centere and kes on the wing. man i dont remember being this excited about our draft picks ever.
  24. size does not matter at all in the new NHL i dont know why people still cry about it. how big is pat kane? how big is mike richards, brendan morrow, martin st. louis, brian gionta, mike cammalleri, danny briere??? we could go on and on with undersized guys who are impact players. and shroeder was one of the strongest guys in the draft and he can skate with the best of them so i see no reason to cry and whine about his size.
  25. i honestly dont see as much to complain about as most of you here. this kid can skate with the best in the world already, is very smart and sees the plays develop really well and also saw him blocking shots and back-checking. the only thing he needs to work on would be his tenacity and physical play, which will be worked on once he makes the jump to the AHL. other than that he is one of the brighter stars we have coming up and should have an awesome nhl career.
