  1. There is no "type" of person that does drugs, it crosses all social, economic, and "neatly dressed" categories.
  2. So if that's true I guess it's a matter of which is easier, to grow a backbone or for a natural hitter to learn how to score at the NHL level? Neither are easy and far from guaranteed, but it's probably easier to grow a backbone. I think it's worth the gamble. Go Canucks Go!
  3. Konecny definitely needs a little "extra attention" next time for that very late little cheap shot on Petey. We have to let the league know that that is a no-go. Why do people think that they can get away with crap like that? Oh yeah, because they can. Nobody ever did that to Gretzky when Semenko was on the ice. Just sayin'... GCG!
  4. Are people going to get mad at me for being happy that we won? I'm not conflicted. I prefer winning. Go Canucks Go!
  5. I heartily disagree. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. Pinning the current mess on fans like me wanting to win is a bit of a stretch. But it is what it is. GCG!
  6. I know I said that I'd let you get the last word in (and I still will if you want to make another comment) but I can't resist. You're still playing both sides. In your opinion, do the players want to tank or not? You didn't really answer that. Well, you answered it both ways. I think that you're conveniently forgetting that the concept of tanking necessarily means losing on purpose. That's the thing that I can't abide, even if it yields good results in the future. Someone somewhere along the line has to lose on purpose for "tanking" to occur. I still think that it severely damages the morale of the organization if the players are playing to win and the management is trying to lose on purpose. GCG!
  7. Thanks for your response but I don't really understand what you're saying here. Are you saying that the players want to tank or don't want to tank? It seems like you're suggesting it's both ways. But that can't be. I'm confused. BTW, I trained as a P.E. teacher (retired now) and I have coaching certificates in three different sports (none of which are hockey). I understand the dynamics of running a sports team even if it isn't at the pro level. I guess that's the rub, I play and coach for the sheer fun of it. Each game to me is an isolated event and there is only one goal in mind. I don't have any profit motive involved (and there was no drafting when I played and coached sports). Anyway, I'll let you get the final word in, if you want. I've got other things to do. But I'm curious if you want to answer my above question.
  8. I've got something else for you to consider if you don't mind. Let's get past the emotions if we can. I'm trying to understand it from your point of view. You're saying the players play to win, and the coaches coach to win but it's the GM who decides if and when to tank? Have I got that right? Well, don't you think that it destroys the morale of an organization, any organization, if the workers are trying to achieve something and management sabotages their effort? Don't you think its better if everyone in the organization is trying for the same thing (whatever that may be)? GCG!
  9. Look, we have a difference of opinion. There is no way I can present my dissenting opinion without disagreeing with you. If that upsets you then I can't control that. I have no intent to be unkind to you personally. An insult, to be a real insult, requires intent. I just want the Canucks to win, that's all. I'm amazed at how many people that upsets. GCG!
  10. Hey, I never said anything about you or your opinion. You're free to speak your mind and you can be a fan any way you want to be. I was just saying where I was coming from. And that's that I personally don't respect losing on purpose or even wanting to lose. That's just me. GCG!
  11. I don't have any magic solutions. I just know as a lifelong athlete myself that you never ever stop trying to win. To me, there's no point in playing sports otherwise. It disrespects the other team, the fans, and oneself. Maybe I should say that it's the pursuit of winning that is even more important than actually doing it. I like winning but if I know in my heart that I tried my best then I can accept losing and it doesn't bother me. That's the way I feel when I play sports. And that's what I expect from the athletes I cheer for. GCG!
  12. Well, thanks for looking out for my health. That's really what you're doing, right? GCG!
  13. Hey man, I'm allowed my opinion just like everyone else. Just because I choose not to be swept away with the tide doesn't mean that I'm not allowed to swim in my own direction.
  14. I was making a general statement. Clearly the post I was reacting to was meant as an insult. But yeah, I was being very slightly edgy. I'm not going to apologize for that though. GCG!
  15. Yeah, that's the classic tank logic. The thing is that I just don't agree. Adding a blue chip player to a team with a losing culture isn't going to help much. We have to want to win to get anywhere. Go Canucks Go!
  16. Ad hominem is the last refuge of the desperate and intellectually bankrupt. You're free to post your opinion but trying to insult me for posting mine really says more about you. GCG!
  17. But y'know that's the thing about culture, once it takes hold it is VERY hard to just instantly reverse course. GCG!
  18. That's your opinion, and apparently the opinion of a lot of people on this forum. I just happen to not agree. I don't get bullied easily by crowds. What we really need is to ditch this losing culture. GCG!
  19. I can accept losing, I am a Canucks fan after all. It just makes me sick that people WANT to lose. Go Canucks Go! P.S. - I've been watching the Canucks since their first season (ergo the jersey icon).
  20. Seeing so many so-called "fans" cheer for losing makes me sick to my stomach. I can never get on board with wanting to lose, just because it's fashionable these days. Go Canucks Go!
  21. I still think that there's no point in playing at all, if we're not playing to win. Let's see what a new coach and a few lineup changes can do. Never say die. Go Canucks Go!
  22. I'm happy to see Podz back in the NHL. I hope he's fired up and ready to make the big step that we've all be waiting for. There's no point in playing at all unless we're playing to win. Go Canucks Go!
