  1. Do you honestly think that we are going to be in the Stanley Cup this year? I'd love it but I'm looking to the future again (with Horvat, Shink and Gaunce hopefully moving up within a year or two). Horvat is a solid prospect - likely a top 6 player.
  2. I would not move Lack. Lu is 34 and who knows how many years he has left. Lack has shown he is a good goalie. He'll be the next starter. I see the value in trading Lack but it's very risky unless you have a top goalie prospect in the wings.
  3. Luongo is not the reason we're losing lately. Our power play percentage is disgraceful and we've had some costly defensive mistakes. We also need to score more goals. At 34, Luongo is not old for a goalie. Look how Martin Brodeur played in his mid to late 30s, same for Patrick Roy. Technically, Lu is playing well.
  4. Our power play sucks. We need to get more shots on net. The time it takes to set up the big slap shot from the point, the opposition gets position and prevents or blocks the shot. We need more lateral movement (esp on the point) and quicker shots - more snap shots and more wrist shots. Just hit the dog gone net and have somebody like Kes, Burr or Weise in front to bang in the rebound. The Sedin cycling wastes a lot of time and it isn't working right now (too much perimeter play, too few shots). On a positive note, this was one of the best games we've played all year (next to the San Jose game we won). A few defensive errors cost us the game - especially Edler leaving the front of the net in regulation time. I thought Booth looked the best he has since last year and he had some shots on net. We just have to keep working hard and not getting down. We had more quality shots in this game compared to the last couple of games - the power play looked better but not good enough.
  5. I hope not. Anybody that wouldn't sign the Canucks first round draft pick, Umberger, (over a 100 grand or so) I have to wonder about. I don't think we need Burke's drama.
  6. You betcha we want him! Most underpaid and under-appreciated Canuck. My fav player. Awesome game.
  7. Hi lof. I am also a civil servant. I work as an Environmental Health Officer in Salmon Arm. I play soccer for an over 45 mens' team - so we have the love of soccer in common. I like beer too (it doesn't like me much because it gives me a slight allergic reaction). Cheers!

  8. Hi lof. I got a kick out of your thread. You seem quite articulate which is an aberration on the CDC (oops, did I say that :). I see that you're a teacher which explains a lot (that's a compliment unlike what Sarah Palin thinks!). I like how you kept your cool. If you search "Waive Salo?",you'll find my post in mid July. Boy, did I get lambasted. I agree with your comments about Salo.

  9. Are you kidding me? We need to sign him long term and he needs a fair raise.
  10. We need Burrows. Who can replace his tenacity on the 3rd or 4th line? He is great on the penalty kill and he is a very good defensive player. He is one of our best forecheckers. He'll have to reduce his penalties during the regular season. He is a better offensive player than Brown or Rypien. Hodgson is not ready for a full time role in the NHL. Krog is a decent offensive forward but he doesn' have the defensive ability of Burrows. Blood Brothers is out to lunch!
  11. Agree. Burr is burr in the backside of our opponents. He's good value and a good checking forward.
