  1. They have the start time as 12:05. So when is the actual kickoff time? Hopefully the games are close. Blowouts are too anti-climactic.
  2. Yeah! Then another two week wait for hyping and maximum betting. C'mon Sunday.
  3. It sounds like they are trying to make the officials protect him. It's a little early to complain for penalties isn't it?
  4. So we should have guessed exactly which post you were referring to?
  5. That's a pretty dumb viewpoint. That's like saying don't post until the third period of a hockey game.
  6. It was a fact. They have scored big in the second half before. They should have taken the points. They didn't get any points at all let alone a big score.
  7. If they had taken their three points instead of going for it on 4th and 5, they would be driving for the tie right now. Instead they would still need to try for field goal range.
  8. Ouch. I guess Carolina is going to beat that 2.5 point spread!
  9. The horror!! The horror!!!! I haven't even finished my coffee yet. Can't blame it all on the turf.
  10. The only one who actually mentioned the laces was the announcer. He suggested that it may have had a psychological affect on the kicker. Ghosts and I were merely referring to being reminded of Ace Ventura. In case that was what you were commenting on.
  11. Mrs. Finkle: It was all that Dan Marino's fault, everyone knows that. If he had held the ball, laces out, like he was supposed to, Ray would never have missed that kick. Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie, son? Ace Ventura: Hmm, what do you know. They're little footballs. Mrs. Finkle: Laces out!
  12. Totally unnecessary hit. The ball was gone and Pittsburgh had no timeouts left. Then Jones hands them the win. Wow what a ridiculous finish. I'm glad I was switching back and forth from the Canucks game. Bengals deserved to lose with those undisciplined plays.
  13. There seems to be certain fouls that are left too much to the discretion of the officials. Offensive holding happens all the time and some teams get away with it far too often. Other times the call is made when a player barely puts his arm around a player even though it has no effect on the outcome of the play. Another one is offensive interference. Some teams get away with pushing off while others get called for minor pushes. It seems like they use certain fouls to dictate outcomes and final scores.
  14. He is finally hitting the line hard instead of looking for the big gain first. The first few games I noticed him hesitating at the line and looking for the gap before he ran. That gave the defense too much time to adjust to him. Injury aside of course. Their defense still has to play better against good passing teams if they want to have a chance at winning it all again.

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

Gaunchs footspeed and acceleration have both improved. His play away from the puck has also improved. He will get his chance eventually. I expect him to be a starter next season.

So he needs to get more rapidness in his game. I think he got caught up in the numbers game. Virtanen and McCaan would have had to go back to juniors. He can be called up without waivers. If McCaan gets sent down, I'm sure he will be the next one up unless a more offensive player is needed. He was the perfect replacement for Higgy.

I think Benning said that he is happy with Gaunce on the wing. He is getting better at battling along the boards and his talents seem more suitable as winger. I also thought that he would have made a good 4th then 3rd line center, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

If Vey were not an asset, he would not be on the team. Your hatred does not get to decide who is an asset or an NHLer. Benning and Linden make those decisions.

    Brendan Gaunce | C/LW

Gaunce was probably the best fit to sub in for Higgy. Management seems like they want to give McCaan a look. If it weren't the start of the season and Higgins got injured, he would be the first called. Not the end of the world. I'm sure Gaunch knows how the business works by now.
  20. Well, I was wrong!!! The umps didn't use strike zone manipulation to screw over the Jays. Hopefully this trend continues throughout the Series. They may actually have a shot at the prize. I will be PO'ed if they start with their give a few inches here and take a few there like they have for so long. Good Luck Jays. Toronto's team!!!!

    Bo 6'0" 206 lbs. Gaunce 6'2" 207 lbs. Bo-center Gaunce-winger. Great comparison.

There are reports on every new prospect. The issue is that certain fans cling to these and can't adjust there viewpoint to changes these players have made and the way they have developed. Keep in mind that Gaunce was drafted as a center. His game is much better suited to the wing.
  23. I don't usually mini-mod, but there must be a Gretzky butt-kissing thread on the Oilers website. This is a Virtanen butt-kissing thread. Smooch on Showtime please.
  24. In those 12 games he skated and worked with skills and conditioning coaches the entire time. He was cleared to play on the 13th and was assigned to Utica on the 19th. He missed 2 games in that period, but that is normal for returning players. Technically he didn't "sit out" any games but it seems as if they wanted to work with him and see if they could develop his game to an approriate NHL level before making a decision with him. The same thing may happen with Showtime.

Conjecture and opinion. My opinion is that Gaunce will be the first called up on the left side and he will be a starter in the 2016/17 season.
