  1. Right. So why should he get paid like a vet that can play good defence then? His one dimensional play doesn't warrant the level of pay of a better two way player like Makar.
  2. I notice that all the jackass butt smoochers whining on his behalf only refer to the "one of the worst teams" portion of his comment. They conveniently ignore the fact that he's using that as an excuse to justify Quinn's below average defensive play. The team is the players, so he's blaming Quinn's team-mates while absolving him of any blame. I posted this earlier On the same team Edler 32,2% o zone starts -8 Schmidt 34.9% O zone starts -7 Hamonic 52% O zone starts -3 Hughes 62.2 O zone starts -24 Edler and Schmidt had higher D-zone starts than Quinn's O zone starts yet have a much better +/-. Same team, same team-mates.
  3. jackass should have just kept his mouth shut on that one. His comment doesn't hold up to scrutiny. On the same team Edler 32,2% o zone starts -8 Schmidt 34.9% O zone starts -7 Hamonic 52% O zone starts -3 Hughes 62.2 O zone starts -24 He's basically blaming Quinn's team-mates for his below average defensive play. He's also suggesting that his defensive play shouldn't be considered in negotiations and his offence should be the main factor in comparison to other players. Makar is a better all around player so Quinn doesn't measure up. Makar was a +17 with 63.1 O zone starts. He also has 94 hits in 101 games to Quinn's 26 hits in 129 games. He's more physical and a better defender. That should definitely be considered in negotiations.
  4. When the going gets tough, the Toffoli gets injured. "Toffoli was dealing with a groin injury during the Stanley Cup Finals, Eric Engels of Sportsnet.ca reports. Toffoli was notably held quiet in the last six games of the playoffs, posting a minus-8 rating and no points in that span." If he were signed, people would have turned on him for getting injured two seasons in a row. He started the Playoffs strong but got injured and was less effective when it counted. He would be getting the "made of glass" crap that people around here like to throw at any player that takes injuries. Instead he's held up as some sort of lost saviour.
  5. I guess this thread has devolved into a cutesy gif thread like the 2nd Schmidt thread. Petey and Quinn, let's get going already.
  6. For example purposes. A bridge deal at 7 million could look something llike $6,250,000 $7,000,000 7,725,000 A longer term could add something like $9,000,000 $9,000,000 $10,000,000 $10,000,000 $10,000,000 That would be a AAV cap hit of $8,725,000 We are also in a hockey mad market so they would get sponsorship deals as well which would add to their income. I'm not sure why people keep getting offended on Petey's and Quinn's behalf. We want a Cup. They should as well. Reasonable deals would help to that end and that's why many of us are hoping for them to sign reasonable deals. I buggered up on my mathing. It would $8,625,000 I guess that extra $800,000 could be added to the bridge to make it more palatable.
  7. The only reason I brought it up is that some are using Point as a comparable while ignoring certain aspects such as two way play and the Cups. Even with the tax difference, I don't think Petey should get over 9 million on a longer term. He should be around 7 million on a bridge.
  8. I love Pettersson but Point helped lead his team to two Stanley Cups before he was rewarded with that contract. To me that means that Petey has to come in below that.
  9. I thought that Brockstar was one of our best players last season. Him and Bo.
  10. Even if you use Point as a comparable, the long term deal still wouldn't be 9.5 million. The AAV of the bridge portion would still be around 7 million. That would bring down the AAV of the deal as only the final 5 years of the deal would be in the 9.5 million range. Using Point as a comparable for an eight year deal would put the AAV at around 8,5625 million. Edit: Maybe it would be up there. I went on capfriendly and noticed his last few years are around 7 million per season and his middle years are inflated to 12 million per season. I don't think Pettersson has proven himself to the point where he's worth 12 million in salary for those years. That's a tough one for sure.
  11. The trick is to not be squeamish. Just tell yourself that it's pork and use lots of spices.
  12. I hope you're still sticking with it. Even if you falter, you can just quit drinking again. I went through quitting and starting and quitting again for years before I finally stopped altogether. My friends and I used to drink and party a lot. We used to have a thing where we would prank our passed out friends. Usually putting makeup on them or even dresses. One time I shaved off half of my friends moustache.. When he woke up, he would touch the half that was still there and not the shaved side. It took him a while to finally notice. I didn't tell anyone that it was me that did it, so no one knew who to blame. Two of my other friends laughed the hardest, so he assumed it was them. He loved his stache so he was very mad about it. He waited a while and a few weeks later he bought a bunch of alcohol and fed them booze until they passed out. He shaved then bald. At the time it seemed hilarious, but now I think that it must have sucked for the people getting pranked. We convince ourselves that we can't have fun and enjoy life without alcohol. That's not true. I finally quit after I realized that i didn't really enjoy drinking and was doing it because that's what I knew.
  13. There's a rumour going around that Dhaliwal is just a sock puppet for the agents now. Could that be true? I think the agent is hoping that fans turn on Benning to put more pressure on him to sign more inflated contracts for Pettersson and Hughes. With limited cap space, I don't think that will happen. I see more people getting frustrated with the agent and the players. I caved in to frustration for a short while but have regained my patience. I just hope that they don't expect us to move out a player so that they can get more for themselves. That wouldn't be a good look, especially for Pettersson in light of his recent comments.
