  1. Just shows how tough it is to unload cap! We may be trying to do something similar but with less return; 4th or 5th. On LW Miller and Motte are locks and Pearson works well with Bo. Roussel Baertschi, Eriksson are the others. Roussel takes the attention of other teams thugs so he is under valued for his role. Baertschi and Eriksson are the ones that don't fit. Waiver fodder? That saves 2 million and change if we can't move them out. With all the fallout from the shuffling going on, we may find a low cost 3rd line center. Or we go with Sutter and Gaudette for another year and hope Gaudette can round out his game. RW Boeser, Virtanen, Gaudette/Sutter, Loui, and MacEwen. I don't think we go Loui with Bo, instead Jake gets a shot at that spot and runs with it. If Ferland is healthy that would give Green even more options. Trades may move in and out players as well.
  2. That ship has sailed. If OEL changes his mind, Boston is his last choice unless he broadens his list. Arizona screwed up on that one.
  3. Media reported that Benning was one of the most active GMs touching base with every GM in the League. It should be apparent that the cost of moving cap and salary is too high. Once that reality set in Benning had to make tough decisions. I've been saying all along that Toffoli was not a priority. We would be committing to him in our top 6 for 4 years blocking others or becoming an expensive 3rd liner in his last few seasons. D was the priority and has been partially addressed. I expect at least one more signing or trade. I hope this puts to rest any Boeser trade talk. Also Jake wasn't as bad as portrayed. He had almost 4 minutes less per game than Toffoli but had 18g and 18a to Toffoli's 24g and 20a. He's also way more physical than Toffoli and younger. I hope they don't trade him. I think he is going to surprise a lot of people. .
  4. I was wondering if we would get him because of being a leftie that can play both sides. The price is right though. I was discussing this with someone in another thread. You were right.
  5. Sabres still have cap space and if they want to improve, maybe they could use one of our left wingers. Roussel or Pearson would fit in their cap easily. Add a Benn too.
  6. We'd be committing pretty much 6 million per season for 5 years for him. I'd rather have a natural rightie for that cost.
  7. We don't need another LHD we need right handed D-men.
  8. In a normal year it would be early July still. What ever it is that's been hitting people on the head, it wasn't the sky.
  9. You can't blame Ehrhoff for taking that deal. If he didn't take the most money, they wouldn't have let him back into Germany.
  10. Buffalo can not only afford him, but can add other pieces if they are serious about contending.
  11. Maybe this will trigger some other trades and signings as well.
  12. They're allowed to go over. This gives them way more wiggle room.
  13. I heard that Fleury is developing an allergy to neon lights and sand.
  14. Unless we find a way to move out salary, I doubt we sign Toffoli. Our needs on D take precedence.
  15. We also only use 13 or 14 forwards and 7 or 8 d men and the rest get sent down. We could even start with less than 23 players and call them up later. If we waive anyone we get 1 million cap space but only save a few 100,000 on an elc player. There are still options. I was also referring to the salaries weeks ago before any moves were made. Every team has different needs and are in different situations. That doesn't change the fact that 18 teams had less cap space than us before any moves were even made.
  16. I doubt we go two years in a row with out 1st rounder. We're not in that bad of shape. Before all the moves the Canucks were in 19th spot for cap space on Capfriendly. That put 18 teams with less cap than us. Other teams have moved out cap for 4th and 5th rounders. If Benning moved anyone for that he would get criticized. So, people get to complain either way. We still have options and I doubt we're done. Remember the angst over losing Boucher to waivers then we lost Goldy and Bearcheese last year. The horror!!!!! I don't mind the moves and non moves so far. We chose Demko and Marky had a right to take the best offer. UFAs earn that right. Tanev got a better term and we didn't want to commit that many years. Stech was a tough one but getting heavier is a must if we want to be more competitive in Playoffs; not just next year but down the line as well. I trust that Clarke can push Holtby back up there and we will have two solid goalies still. And we wait!!!!
