  1. It's important to note that Travolterella's public persona is, in large part, a result of 2 things... 1. Lazy beat writers, instead of forming a thought and asking a coherent question, would constantly say to Torts "Talk about the powerplay..." or "Talk about your goaltending..." and this drove him nuts. As far as he was concerned he was doing their job when they did that. He repeatedly told them to ask him a question instead but they wouldn't listen. On the contrary it seems, they would keep doing it to piss him off and it worked. He could have dealt with this differently (and I imagine his approach will be different in Vancouver) but he chose not to. 2. Let's face it, almost every time you see a highlight or hear a quote from Tortilla, his face is purple, he's got a giant vein poking out of his forehead and he looks like he's about to go OJ on someone. It always makes the highlight reels because it's entertaining but he doesn't actually do it all the time. It just seems like it because of the constant repetition of the 24 hour news cycle. But nobody blows a gasket in the NHL like him right now, not even close.
  2. I've changed my mind about having the Fonz coach the Canucks, I think he might be exactly what the Canucks need right now. I don't expect he'll be around as long as AV because he will drive some people nuts after a while but man would it be entertaining. The Aquilinis probably love the idea of Travolterella too, given the fact that his name ends in a vowel. I'd be happy with Stevens as well.
  3. according to Gillis there are a total of 7 or 8 candidates being interviewed
  4. that's gotta be a mistake unless there's some new rule about players turning 40 or something
  5. "...And that's why I say he's gonna be the greatest mayor this city has ever, ever seen, as far as I'm concerned! And put that in your pipe, you left-wing kooks...." Don Cherry speaking at Rob Ford's inauguration, December 7, 2010
  6. The Canucks should hire Torts as the Minister of Propaganda, he would handle all press conferences 90% of which would consist of berating Botchford and Gallagher.
  7. I still remember Eakins from NHLPA '94, he was a depth D man for Winnipeg. I probably played that game a little too much
  8. Speak of the devil, he's available ! This just happened today
  9. I guess he got tagged with the crappy skater label early in his junior career and he's been working on it because I don't see it...at the junior level anyway. Whatever, he'll be faster next year. he seems like a good kid with a great attitude and some serious upside.
  10. is there anywhere to watch these games ?
  11. He could do more but Garrison is deceptively physical in his down low coverage and on the boards. He doesn't go for the big flashy hit unless he thinks he can separate the target from the puck, which is the smart thing to do. Huge hits are overrated if a player does it too much because they end up getting caught out of position.
