Less than 24 hours to go.
We have a 6% chance of winning 1st or 2nd overall. To put it into perspective, you have worse odds of winning 5 dollars on a lottery ticket.
I just hope the Hawks or Habs win Bedard. Chicago needs to be bad for a long time, I do not want any ounce of success coming their way. As for the Habs, they are one of the most insufferable fanbases in all of sports and I’d hate to have to listen to Habs fans glaze all over about Bedard the next 10+ years.
Teams I’d love to see win Bedard if not us would be either Columbus, Arizona, and despite being a divisional rival, San Jose. Bedard could single handedly save Arizona and also make Columbus an attractive spot for UFA’s.
Anyways here’s my lottery sim results. It took about 9 tries.
Come home Bedard. Vancouver is your destiny.

Who here watched him live? His work ethic was poor and he was the definition of a seagull.
The guy got cut (not re-signed) from the Canucks at a time when we had a really poor team.
Absolutely not an NHL player.
Hard pass.
All talk and attitude, but at no point did he back it up.

What's so fantastic for Boston is that they are so all-in, that it will add a significant bite into next year's cap (4.5M I believe between Bergeron and Krejci)!

Just one of many specific examples of why a team doesn't intentionally lose, to tank.

That was me yesterday with the few glasses of wine and bottle of champagne.
Lushness at its finest!
My mother called when I was finishing my wine and on my way to the grocery store for champagne. I kept confusing generic for genetic.
Lushness is often genetic, or at least seems to be in my family.

Cristall looks sloooooooooow.
Every time I have taken my son to games, and he tries to get autographs, Cristall has had such a prima donna attitude; like he's a superstar already or something. And, the rest of the players are his grunts, while fans are just peons. Huge character red flags in my opinion.

At league minimum that would be great imo. We can't afford to pay anymore.
Weren't these the same executive geniuses who had zero dollars to improve the defence last year and had to pay a second round pick to dump Dickinson's salary? After 5 years+ of no cap space to make necessary improvements, unfortunately I think everyone has a right and more so should definitely be concerned about the cap situation. If they care about the quality of the team next year and beyond that is.
No team is non-compliant because they can't be. Like you said it's pretty simple to add numbers up to 82. I don't think any management team is messing that up. It doesn't mean that teams couldn't be made better if they had more cap space. There is a reason everyone is talking about our lack of space.

Maple Leafs forced to sign another amateur goalie after NHL blocks attempted recall
"Which means the salary-cap highwire act the Leafs tried to execute with the signing of Matthew Knies wasn’t permitted to go through as planned by the NHL."

Improve it or change it or scrap it.
The organization needs to be better in everything it does in order to compete with the great NHL organizations at the top of the standings. Or we are kidding ourselves. Get better in every way. Mediocrity is not acceptable in any form if you want to be competitive with the top teams and their exceptional organizations.
Why are the top teams at the top?
Other NHL teams deal with the same situation as you first described. Other leagues, like the NCAA, have agreements in place with the NHL that prohibit their players from playing in NHL sanctioned games. These preseason tournaments aren't substantially higher levelled in other areas. In fact, the Canucks were one of the first teams to even have these prospect games encouraging other teams to get something together. Many, if not most NHL teams are actually lagging in that respect.
...just think, it's regularly in Penticton with Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg joining. So, clearly they aren't having their own local tournaments with other NHL teams.

If we get 1st overall, I quit. If we win a cup, I get to start again. Seems fair.
