  1. No no, one concussion with long term memory loss would suffice. That and $15.99US for the jersey, and they toss in season tickets with free parking and half price concessions. :: nods ::
  2. Well it took an undersized guy wearing a face cage for protection to go out there, throw some hits, and wake the rest of the team up. Thank you Burrows. Least they played the third period like the game meant something to them. Hanzal...what a coward (and that's the most polite way I could think of putting it). Good job Bieksa and honorable mention goes to Hamhuis for trying to hold the big pansy accountable. Of course he declined
  3. Severly disappointed at how the team came out tonight. It's obvious that they've been directed to not engage in any antics against Hanzal, but holy crap guys....how about hitting something?!? Anything!! How does a team that has been showing the heart they've been showing the past half dozen games come out with zero piss and vinegar against a team they're competing for a playoff spot with, and a player that recently took out three of your own? Hell, Hanzal even tossed in a head shot on Richardson to end the first period and still nothing?!? Disappointed, and hanging this one on the interm coach regardless if they win or lose. Momentum opportunity lost regardless if they don't pick it up to end this game imho.
  4. Couldn't of said it any better myself, and have also been saying this for the past five years. What the NHL needs is MORE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS TO EVERY LEVEL OF THE LEAGUE. Officials, League Head office et al. If enough fans and -I think most importantly- media complain about the declining integrity of this game, the talking heads that run this league will be FORCED to do something. When would you EVER see a NFL official making blatantly obvious biased called against one team, then be seen to be calling that team's coach a f#$@n a@$%#hole to another official: http://postmediaprovince.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/devorskiahole.gif?w=640h=360 Yep...NHL officials = class, integrity, and professionalism
  5. Ahh I love John Tortorella. One of the last of the lineage of old school, fire breathing, emotional, and controversial coaching figureheads in professional sports. It wasn't if it was when, and I eagerly awaited the inevitable. Then came Saturday... So excited and emotionally charged was I, after the debaucle that was Vancouver vs. Calgary, eagerly did I look forward to hearing from OUR sports personalities on what went down Saturday night. Of course you're going to get the expected "He was completely out of line" rhetoric from those OUTSIDE of Vancouver. Those that have no real pulse on what the Canucks have been going through over the past few years. Lets get something straight here...Torts was wrong in charging the Flames room plain and simple. He also knew EXACTELY what he was doing, and what would happen to him because of it. He also, in my opinion, received a fair penalty for what he did. As I stated in another post, what he did was friggin' brilliant as far as team dynamics and group psychology goes. So imagine my surprise when I hear Mr. Price spouting off that Torts should of started any other line and taken the seven minutes in penalties that Vancouver "surely" would have received once Calgary's goons started playing pinata with Canuck player's heads. Say what?!? We of the Vancouver Canucks fans that have spent the past three to five years watching the Canucks turning the other cheek repeatedly and getting runned repeatedly because no team respects them?!? We of the Vancouver Canucks fans that bemoaned the complacency of the team when players would take cheap shots to our players heads after the whistle, or take runs at our star players from out of province in hopes of injuring them?? In disbelief I did something I rarely do....I called in. As soon as I stated Torts did the correct thing by sending out his fourth line -only because he had to in that particular situation- Mr. Price cut me off and hit the "call end" button on me. Wow, I thought, what the hell is going on here? For the remainder of the show all I heard was how Torts should of done this, could of done that...we missed out on the powerplay opportunity (because our powerplay is doing sooo well this year, and the refs have shown their aptitude to treating the Canucks fairly)!! I figured I'd give them another chance today and managed to get through my points. I ended the call stating wouldn't most of us appreciate our bosses sticking up for us and the job we have to do? Soon as I hung up Mr. Sekeres responded in a sarcastic manner, "Oh yes, I would definitely want my boss to go out and pick a fight for me. That would show me he cares."
  6. Amen Frethead...that and a giant middle finger to the NHL headoffice would be most appropriate. Thank you for the positive feedback on my original post. I tend to not post on these boards too much due to my emotional attachment to this league and team. Quite frankly, I often rage at the state of this game I love, and I don't want to come across as being a loose canon or "homer". Been watching hockey all my life, and the steady decline of integrity/ethics/honor from the game -especially after the instigator rule was introduced- and the declining standard of officiating has really tainted my enjoyment of this fantastic game. I do really love the hiring of Torts though and, even though he has a short shelf life with teams, I look forward to a rebirth of the backbone and toughness that used to be staples of this franchise. Sure we've been winning....but why can't we have it both ways exactely??
  7. wow...after reading 11pages it amazes me ANYONE would have an issue with what Torts did last night. Even canuck haters. What Torts did last night is simple group dynamics 101. IT....WAS....BRILLIANT. Here is a new coach in his first year with a new room of guys who for YEARS have been studied in the art of "turning the other cheek in hopes that the game will be called fairly". Uh hmm. So Torts has had to not only teach an entirely new playing system, but also weed out a defeatist mentality installed over the last coaching regime. Throw on top of that the obvious bias that the league and officating has against this team, stated very well by debluvscanucks, and what he did was most definitely thought out. Here's a guy not even 6' tall charging a hallway full of guys that could beat him senseless without breaking a sweat, to SHOW BY EXAMPLE what it takes to be a TEAM. Nobody bashes the fkn Bruins for being a bunch of thugs that stick up for each other and go out of their way to flex their collective muscle. Hell the league sat back in this day and age of concussions and watched a no-fighting little weasel play punching bag with a star players face! The officiating in this league is second only to the NBA as far as being a joke, bush league, no integrity, amatuerish outfit. While leagues like the NFL and MLB are taking every step, including more replays, to ensure the integrity and rules of the game are being followed, out jogs the NHL with its inconsistent, bush league officiating. I guarantee that 85% of the penalties called on a nightly basis, no matter the teams involved, the players are left scratching their heads. Pretty sure this doesn't happen nearly as often in other professional sports. I applaud the work Torts is doing this season with these guys, and it'll only show better in the years to come. Seeing Torts losing his mind last night and showing his team and the rest of the league the size of cheesies he's working with is exactely the antidote this team was needing. Oh, and by the way, NHL officals and head office- coming from a hockey fan not just a Canuck fan- you can stop ruining our bloody game at any point, not just when the world starts seeing the NHL as a second tier league. Go KHL go lol.....
