  1. Nah man...I just have different ideas on when to say stuff and what to say. Making fun of the Leafs right now is like a midget laughing at Tom Cruise for not being as tall as Lennox Lewis.
  2. As you wish. It's just kind of weird to make fun of the Leafs for losing in seven to the champs when we didn't even make the playoffs.
  3. Well, again I'm not really here to defend the Leafs but that's exactly what perhaps our most celebrated team ever did in the 2011 final, never mind pissing away a 3-0 lead in the first round.
  4. I think the Kings traded Bernie Nicholls partway through the season after he scored 70 goals, when he was having another great year. Obviously not too common, but stranger things have happened. Dennis Maruk was traded by the Capitals one year after scoring 60 goals and 136 points.
  5. I'm no fan of the Leafs but they did just take the 2x defending champs to game seven. They played a good series.
  6. D-men with 96 points or more before Josi...7. Players with 70 goals...8. Players with 60 goals is something like 20.
  7. Yeah the number of defensemen in history with 96 points in a season is actually smaller than the number of forwards with 70 goals I think.
  8. I think Josi gets my vote. 96 points from the blueline is even more impressive and a rarer achievement than 60 goals. And 60 goals is serious business.
  9. He just had the 5th most points in his career. He's a point a game in these playoffs. I don't see why he would need to start taking bargain basement contracts. He should be a Selke finalist at a minimum again this year.
  10. He really leveraged almost beating Norm MacDonald at tennis into a career in sports after all.
  11. Has any goalie lost his starting position in the playoffs more times in his career than MAF?
  12. That and Turgeon and Nicholls should both already be in. I'm not terribly opposed to Roenick either.
  13. I say yes. The all time games record might be enough for me even if he didn't have 1000 points. I'm in no hurry to get him in there, but I'd have him on the right side of the line.
  14. A nomination from every team would be okay I suppose but I would still want a top three finalists. Especially with the size of the league, at the end of their careers being a Hart or Norris or Vezina finalist winds up being the crowning individual achievement for some very good players, Hall of Famers included. I was down with the All Star Game right up until the North America versus the world stuff. And it's just been downhill from there.
  15. Yeah I probably don't have to tell you at this point but I was just skipping to Liut and Roach as my HOF candidates because I figured it went without saying that Barrasso and Vernon should have been in long ago.
  16. Ranford also had that one year in Detroit where he was brought in for washed up depth and was held in less regard than Schenn before he got here this year...then ended up opening the playoffs with two shutouts or close to it. One last hurrah, kind of like King Richard that final year in Hartford or Jeremy Roenick with that last game 7....at least I think that was his final playoff game.
  17. Yeah you know me...King Richard and Garrett little dudes making soccer saves all the way. Another dark horse HOF candidate of mine is John Ross Roach...I'd have been pushing for him for years if I were on the committee... 5'5", won a Cup, led the league in wins twice, shutouts once, 1st team All Star which was the Vezina back then.
  18. I loved those old workhorse goalies. Fuhr played 75 one year and was obviously good to go come playoff team pretty much every year but 1990 where he got injured and...surprise, goalie depth came into play. Ranford picking up the mail where Moog had once been. Fuhr set the record another year with 79...Ranford I think played 77 one year. Good old Gary Smith broke 70 for us one year and I think won the first ever Canucks playoff game that season as well. Cujo was an endurance beast as well. Belfour, Lundqvist. Back in the old old days Jim Henry and Al Rollins. And my long time dark horse HOF candidate Mike Liut.
  19. Wouldn't hurt man. That's part of Burrows' legacy. Would have been Gelinas' too if they hadn't renegotiated in the middle of it to give him more money...never seen that before or since. We need some guys who do it Martin Brodeur style...no agent and just take what would have been the fee off the cap.
  20. Brad Hunt got a holding penalty I think midway through the season. It was pretty interesting.
  21. Yeah, hope Boudreau does what he can to make it happen with his icetime and deployment. Would suck to have one of those "almost" high water marks (Mario with 199 points, Andreychuk with 99 points twice).
  22. Yeah for a stat that is a total number it obviously shouldn't be required to hit the minimum games threshold.
