"I hope he's there at No. 8 for the Blackhawks," Kane said. "It'll be awesome. But he'll probably be gone by then. "He's a great player, great skater and he's got a bright future ahead of him." Hughes, at 18 the youngest player in the tournament, appreciates the compliment. "It's obviously great to hear," he said. "I think the pros have been great with me here. I can't say enough about them taking me in and being great guys, especially veterans. They don't have to come up to the 18-year-old and give him the time of day. They've been great with me and I really appreciate it. https://www.nhl.com/news/quintin-hughes-making-fans-of-nhl-stars-at-world-championship/c-298678214

You could have small skill guys on the third and fourth line, but you still need a least one or two big, tough guys who can skate and hit like a Mack truck. First round pick Tom Wilson has 70 hits already in the playoffs. Tuch is fast for a big man. Ryan Reeves, who is leading his team in hits, admitted that he had to change his style of play in order to stay in the NHL. Reeves scored the series winning goal against Winnipeg, scored again tonight. Vegas fourth line was the difference tonight. Ryan Reeves - 6'1", 225 lbs...1 goal..+2 Thomas Nosek -6'3", 210 lbs.. 2 goals..+3 Pierre-Edouard Bellemare..6'0" 198 lbs...+3

Milan Lucic selected 50th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft[1] and made the Boston Bruins' roster as a 19-year-old in 2007–08. He was selected 50th overall by the Boston Bruins in the second round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Lucic made enough of an impression during his first set of games with the Bruins, showing grit and consistent willingness to fight (he recorded 13 fighting majors in his rookie season),[2] that they decided to keep him in the lineup.

So exciting, another blue chip prospect to cheer on in the future. Which former or current NHL player do you compare him to? Jeremy Roenick?
-
I wonder if he will be Sutter's weight -190 lbs or Mikael Samuelsson's weight - 215 lbs, when he grows into his 6'2" body. The hockey fans who jumped off the bandwagon are going to be surprised in a year or two.

For those who are worried about Pettersson's weight, Nickolas Backstrom was only 6 feet and 183 lbs in his draft year. He is now 6'1" and 210 lbs Pettersson is the next Backstrom. The Washington Capitals today selected center Nicklas Backstrom with the fourth overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. The selection is the club’s 10th first-round selection in the last five years (2002-06). A 6-foot, 183-pound Gavle, Sweden native, Backstrom played both junior and senior hockey with Brynas in the Swedish league in 2004-05 and was named best forward on Bryans in 2005-06. He was also named best forward on Swedish Under-20 at the World Junior Championships and named rookie of the year in the Swedish league in 2005-06. Central Scouting reports that Backstrom is good offensive talent, an excellent playmaker and passer. He is a good offensive talent, an excellent playmaker and passer and has an incredible hockey sense and hands. Scouts have likened Backstrom’s style to fellow Swedish player Peter Forsberg. - WashingtonCaps.com

It was unquestionably a strange sight. As crowds were pouring out of NHK Arena, satisfied with hometown team Timrå IK’s convincing 2-0 victory over hated rivals Modo Hockey, there seemed to be a contingent of fans that weren’t headed for the exits at all. In fact, they were moving closer to the ice. To an outside observer it would seem like they were waiting for something. As the minutes went by, it would turn out that they were in fact waiting for someone… that someone being Jonathan Dahlén. http://www.eliteprospects.com/article.php?id=253

Gadjovich will be battling Anaheim's 1st round draft pick, mean bastard, Max Jones and the Americans this Friday. This game will bring back a lot of memories for the players who played in outdoor rinks when they are little kids.

Murray made a good save on Gaunce's shot in front of the net. It's time for Gaunce to shine as the unsung hero after a few years in the minors and injuries.

A trace of the trait was evident in one of Crosby's very first media interviews. 'You can make it if you try' "They say you have to do your best and work hard and things will happen," he told the Halifax Daily News in a feature written in April 1995 when Crosby was seven. I think the Chicago Black Hawks agrees with you, keeping him instead of trading him. Lesser lights will be sent packing. A famous, popular athletes and their teams can find a way (lawyers, connections) to make the problem go away, fans will still support them. Meanwhile, Joe citizen will get the jail time or community service.
