  1. Pretty hard in a draft with the first overall and a shot at McDavid. It's not the first overalls that Edmonton struggles with but drafting in all of the other rounds. Includes the rest of the rounds and that list looks much different.
  2. Exactly. Elliotte Friedman had the head of hockey operations for Columbus on his podcast a couple weeks back; unfortunately his name escapes my mind at the moment. He stated that it's pretty well known among GMs now that it's not worth trading to move up in the draft. I think he was specifically referring to the top picks in the first round. So while it's a great idea, I can't see it happening.
  3. Sometimes you just get sick of arguing with people who use logical fallacies and straw mans. I appreciate differing opinions if people admit it's just an opinion or back facts up with facts but some people are just downright wasting everyone's time.
  4. There's an ignore button?!?! I'll be right back.
  5. I agree. It used to drive me crazy, and I even got into a few arguments with people on here, when they used to call Schneider "Ginger".
  6. Great post coolcanuckle head. Keep in mind though, Dobber ranks prospects purely on FANTASY potential. That being said, I'm sure every other sight would still have him as the Canucks top prospect as well.
  7. You had me worried for a minute that I had lived my entire life under the lie I was 5'10"!
  8. I think you have your math wrong. 178cm is 5'10". If you type it out in google it comes up with 5.839 but you have to remember there's 12 inches to a foot, not 10. https://www.calculateme.com/height/convert-cm-to-feet-inches/178-cm
  9. It's funny how you claim I know nothing about hockey but you continue to embarrass yourself and dig a bigger hole. Crosby got "pre paid for the Stanley Cup" as you like to say. When did he sign his $8.7M contract? 2008. When did the Pens win their first cup? 2009; AFTER signing Crosby. That's AFTER signing him to his massive contract. So your argument that McDavid is somehow different to Crosby because McDavid is getting "pre paid" to win a cup is moot as that's exactly what the Pens did with Crosby.
  10. I don't hear anyone calling him generational... However, what he could do in that league is unheard of.
  11. The irony. I suppose you're not familiar with the contracts of Crosby and Malkin.
  12. Sorry but you're delusional if you think McDavid is trade bait.
  13. Connor McDavid is generational. He's been in the NHL, 2.5 seasons and you're complaining he hasn't won as many cups as Sid? Sid was generational when he entered the league and so is McDavid. End of story.
  14. No way Edmonton passes up on a chance at a generational D man for Tanev and Goldobin.
  15. Do you have a source for this because I've heard the exact opposite.
  16. How do you include Toews and especially Kane in this list? Kane tough? I agree they play with an edge and are exceptional players but tough is the last thing that comes to mind when I think of Kane.
  17. We drafted Virtanen, partly, for this reason and how's that working out? I'm not writing him off but he hasn't impressed so far so drafting with this need as a priority doesn't always work. You use Cal, Edm and Ana as examples. The better example would be Chicago. Do they have much toughness? They've won 3 keeps, if I were to emulate any team it would be them.
  18. Only time will tell with Juolevi/Tkachuk and Stecher (it's still really early) but I have a feeling Juolevi will still be the better choice over Tkachuk in 10 years time.
  19. What if we whisper? Can we send him back then?
  20. There's a difference between having perfect grammar and being competent with your use of periods and sentence structure. If you're shoving 4 sentences into one you shouldn't be allowed to interact with society.
  21. The kid who hasn't played a single NHL game is the new Kesler? Jake Virtanen is Jake Virtanen.
  22. We're not getting Mantha Tartar and a 1st for Edler and that's a massive overpayment for Weber.
  23. Kilgore: you realise it's about more than just whether he could have "potted us a few goals" against L.A.? He could have easily allowed more goals against us as well. It's your opinion he could have scored a few more goals making a difference, the facts are that in his 12 playoff games with the canucks he was a -4 with 1 assist. That small sample size would suggest, not only would he not contribute offensively for us but if he did he'd likely still be a minus player, thus hurting the team.
  24. And how many teams won the cup before Bettman? How many in the previous 10 years before him?
