  1. Jalen if you're reading this, please make this your goal song next season! Chat-man
  2. Oh dang. Thanks, thats too bad im going to this world junior, would have been nice to see him. I guess ill have to drive down for a canucks game
  3. It is expected by most that EP will make the team out of camp. My question is, when World Juniors begin ,( In Vancouver ), do the Canucks let him play for Sweden?
  4. haha yeah nah just thought it was funny b/c Hughes looks like a child. I am excited to see him play and after last draft my trust is in Benning. The kids name is Crispin Terry
  5. Pavel Bure decided to get in on a photo op. with Vancouvers newest prospect. #PavelandQuintinJune23/2018
  6. I could certainly envision LE mentoring him and teaching him the ropes, but I don't think they need to be on the same line to do it. He is a good 2-way player but he has clearly lost a step or 2. I hope he proves me wrong and earns that contract, but i'll have to see it to believe it.
  7. Yeah good call, Green will almost certainly shelter him. Who do you think would be the best players to play with? Obv. a lot can change on the roster from now until next season, but as the roster is projected now. I wouldn't think he would be playing line 1 (which rules out Bo and Brock) Erickson would just slow him down most likely, Baertschi would combine with EP for a too small and weak line so he's out. Virtanen would fit well with him, speed, net drive, free up space. EP-Sutter/Gaud-Virt? I guess it will depend on if he plays wing or center (which many believe he would start as a winger) does that make Sutter our default 2C?
  8. I am of the opinion that EP has nothing left to prove in the SHL, and that when you have a prospect developing at a rate this fast, you have to be careful on how you handle him. He needs to be deployed in a setting that is challenging enough for him or else there is a risk of "plateauing" early or possibly even regressing. To everyone suggesting he take another year in the SHL, consider that this is not a normal prospect and certainly not a project player. He needs to be thrown into the deep end of the pool, he may tread water for a bit, but it wont take long before he's swimming side by side with the big fish. He needs to be on the team next year, for the good of the team, his development, and his career. Anything else at best would be lateral. The discussion should be, who will he play with and on what line.
  9. Wow this kid is unreal, very impressive season. Is it just me or does it look like he has a freakishly long neck?
  10. Highlights from last night for anyone who wants to see Linds hatty and assist. It doesn't show it but I was the lone fan to throw a hat on the ice! LOL http://pgcougars.com/video/highlights-cougars-7-rockets-6 Cheers.
  11. Hey guys just got home from the game. Lind finished the game with a natural hat trick and an assist and first star of the game. He looked great out there settling down rolling pucks and making between the other teams leg passes, but most of all boasting his scoring skills with his slick wrist shot. He was a huge part of the game including his teams chances at winning and the loss, he took a double minor with time running out in the third for a high stick, the cougars scored on the ensuing power play and won the game. All in all though a very impressive player to watch play and clearly a top 6 player on any team. cheers.
  12. Halfway through first period shots 7-7 Lind w 2 goals.
  13. Yeah well said Momesso, there are lots of bandwagon jumpers when they are winning. But it comes with some history that kind of explains it. The teams owner for many years ran the team into the ground, hiring family members who have no clue about hockey to perform key roles in the organization. This resulted in many losing seasons and bad blood between the players and the organization. The inevitable aftermath was that P.G. became a reputable place for young players careers to die. So ownership and management ran the team soo far into the ground that eventually they were forced to sell (but not after running every season ticket holder out of the building and alienating the part time fans). Enter Dan Hamhuis, Eric Brewer (Cougar alumni) and a local investor, they bought the team cleaned house and immediately things started to look better the cougars were winning and the fans have started to return. Like Momesso said we had a winning season and the building was pretty packed again, although it would be short lived as much of our success was coming from veteran junior players at the end of their age limit to play junior, (Harkins, Watala, Gabriel, Olson), (a few players off the top of my head), So now we are in a rebuild again but it wont last long as it is junior. Good hockey days are on the horizon again in P.G. They are not completely terrible right now they just beat Kelowna last night 4-1. I missed the game because I was at a Big Wreck concert but I will be going to the Kelowna P.G. rematch tonight and I'll give an amature scouting report after here on the Lind page. My buddy was at the game last night and said Lind was hands down the best player on the ice. Here are the highlights from last nights game, Looks like Lind could have had 2 or 3 goals with his play. At :31 seconds he dances the defence very nicely http://whl.ca/video/highlights-rockets-1-at-cougars-4 Cheers
  14. Kelowna is playing in my home town tonight and tomorrow night against the Prince George Cougars, Very excited to see Lind play in person as he should just destroy the cougars. The cougars have traded away all of their really good guys for young future developers, it is points night in the central interior. Expecting Lind to walk away from this double header with 5-7 points.
  15. agreed. also it would be nice to have a post/crossbar count on his season!!! I feel like its between 5-10 idk though
  16. Sooooooo whats the deal with this guy? As a life long canucks fan, I watch him play and wish that it was me out there in the ice (i play in a rec league) because i would care about winning more than Louie. I’m really hoping Green benches him, it is super apparent that he doesn’t give a f**** about winning, vancouver, or hockey in general. Him and Edler need to go, (at least Edler tries tho, he just sucks at hockey and is the worst at decision making) last night against montreal, louie has the puck on his stick aproaching the blueline, looks up and sees a d man, shi** his pants , chips the puck in, then looks around for a team maye to go chase it down. If im the coach, i yell at him, challenge him infront of media, shave his head while hes sleeping, get him mad so we can see an ounce of emotion in his game. Do something!!!!!!!!!! Rant over, sorry CDC-ers!
  17. EP is looking like one hell of a player and only getting better. soo nice to see a nucks prospect on the upswing and getting better! Hey so does anyone know the significance of these games he is playing? are these pre-season games EP is playing in?
  18. Hey guys just thought I would add the start of Elias' reg. season schedule from the Lakers website for anyone wanting to try and catch some of his games, I couldn't find the pre season games. for some reason there were two schedules so I put them both on. : 31/08/2017, 18:30 Växjö Lakers HC - HC Davos H2H Direct 02/09/2017, 15:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Bili Tygri Liberec H2H Direct 08/09/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Frölunda HC H2H Direct 19/09/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Brynäs IF H2H Direct 23/09/2017, 15:15 Växjö Lakers HC - Örebro HK H2H Direct 30/09/2017, 18:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Frölunda HC H2H Direct 05/10/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Mora IK H2H Direct 11/10/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Cardiff Devils H2H Direct 13/10/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Karlskrona HK H2H Direct 19/10/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - IF Malmö Redhawks H2H Direct 26/10/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Frölunda HC H2H Direct 28/10/2017, 18:00 Växjö Lakers HC - HV 71 H2H Direct 04/11/2017, 18:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Rögle BK H2H Direct 18/11/2017, 15:15 Växjö Lakers HC - Skellefteå AIK H2H Direct 21/11/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Färjestads BK H2H Direct 28/11/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - HV 71 H2H Direct 30/11/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Luleå HF H2H Direct 09/12/2017, 18:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Örebro HK H2H Direct 21/12/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Brynäs IF H2H Direct 26/12/2017, 18:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Skellefteå AIK H2H Direct 19/09/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Brynäs IF H2H Direct 21/09/2017, 19:00 Linköpings HC - Växjö Lakers HC H2H Direct 23/09/2017, 15:15 Växjö Lakers HC - Örebro HK H2H Direct 28/09/2017, 19:00 Skellefteå AIK - Växjö Lakers HC H2H Direct 30/09/2017, 18:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Frölunda HC H2H Direct 05/10/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Mora IK H2H Direct 08/10/2017, 14:00 Djurgårdens IF - Växjö Lakers HC H2H Direct 13/10/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Karlskrona HK H2H Direct 14/10/2017, 18:00 Karlskrona HK - Växjö Lakers HC H2H Direct 19/10/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - IF Malmö Redhawks H2H Direct 21/10/2017, 15:15 Luleå HF - Växjö Lakers HC H2H Direct 24/10/2017, 19:00 Färjestads BK - Växjö Lakers HC H2H Direct 26/10/2017, 19:00 Växjö Lakers HC - Frölunda HC H2H Direct 28/10/2017, 18:00 Växjö Lakers HC - HV 71 H2H Direct 03/11/2017, 19:00 Rögle BK - Växjö Lakers HC H2H Direct
  19. only saw the 3rd period. he looked pretty good, fast, outmuscled easily, but high compete level. Looked like he was out of gas a lot, he certainly is going to be a beast once he gains more muscle mass. Split the D men late in the third and drove the net, but fell onto the back checker last second only to get a weak one handed back hand sweep on net. Team Sweden had very bad decision making skills often shooting into a sea of blue defenders who easily blocked the puck instead of making the obvious play to the open man with a lane.
  20. Yes hockey IQ beats everything, just look at how many goals H.Sedin has scored by passing the puck into the net finishing off a great play. I don't really understand how combine after combine there are guys who cant do 2 pull ups. It is super weird to me. When I was in high school we did fitness testing every year, I never ever stepped foot inside a gym and was pretty scrawny with no bicepts, just noodle arms, yet I would max out at 15 pullups (proper pull ups). 5 was easy, 10 was a struggle, 10-15 were excruciating. ( I was 6.0' / 160-175 Lbs. last 3 years of high school ). Are they just not trying?! Or maybe its just how different peoples bodies are built? I remember the short guys always killed the pull up competitions, from shoulder to elbow and from elbow to wrist their arms were much shorter ( generating more torque? )
  21. Did anyone else notice that Norris and Yamamoto were in almost every top ten test? Norris usually in the top 1-5. take the combine testing as you will but that's still pretty impressive. If nothing else it shows their competitiveness. Norris' combine results remind me a lot of Jacob Chychrun.
  22. I wouldn't be too worried about that late season goal slump. Take a look at all the goals he did score last season, they all meant something and were all important to the game. Bo's goals would win the game, get the team into a game, tie the game, or seal the game. He is a big moment type of player and needs the pressure to perform. IMHO he took the last 20 games of the season off because there was nothing to play for, of course not on purpose, some guys just need that extra motive to perform well. If we were in the hunt for a wildcard spot I think we would have seen a different Bo finish out the reg. season. From a GM stand point, it's great when players don't play as well as they could have in a contract season. Next season said player is only going to be better and it will be easier to sign said player to a "value" contract. I am a huge fan of this kid and have been behind him the whole way from draft till current. I tried to stop the CDC "analysts" from putting a low ceiling on him right out of the draft and still some people who think they are expert scouts always trying to keep him down saying he will never be the guy, but I did then and still do now believe he has 1st line center written all over him. You cant teach tireless work ethic and this kids got it. He's only going to get better and better and continue to improve. Every team in the league would love to have Bo as part of their future.
  23. As a previous poster mentioned, opinions on Vilardi seem to be very black and white. Here's an article I found on him that makes me like him a lot more than just trusting the CDC chat ; ) 2017 Draft: Gabriel Vilardi driven to rise higher Windsor center generating attention in quest to move up NHL Central Scouting rankings by Mike G. Morreale @mikemorrealeNHL / NHL.com Staff Writer March 1st, 2017 Share Facebook Share Twitter Share Google Plus Share Link Share Email Share Every Thursday, NHL.com will look ahead to the 2017 NHL Draft with an in-depth profile on one of its top prospects. Windsor coach Rocky Thompson is a big proponent of tracking advanced statistics on his players throughout the Ontario Hockey League season. When it comes to charting the success of center Gabriel Vilardi, there always seems to be one common denominator. "The enhanced stats tell us [Vilardi] is the engine on this team because whoever plays with him, their Corsi numbers go straight up and are increased," Thompson said. "Without him, they drop significantly. We've had a ton of injuries this year so it's been a revolving door with our lines but the one common theme has been Vilardi's ability to make the players with him even better." Vilardi (6-foot-3, 201 pounds), No. 3 on NHL Central Scouting's midterm list of North American skaters eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft, has attracted the attention of every NHL scout the past two seasons. "He's very composed with the puck, and uses his vision and playmaking ability to influence the game in all three zones," said Matt Ryan of NHL Central Scouting. "He excels below the dots in the offensive zone where he uses he size and reach to dictate the play and generate scoring opportunities." Vilardi has 50 points (24 goals, 26 assists) in 40 games this season, and 88 points (41 goals, 47 assists) in 102 OHL games. "The [Central Scouting] ranking pushes me to work even harder; I'm not at the top and I want to get to the top," Vilardi said. "At the same time you have to make sure you go hard enough to stay [No. 3]. The draft is still a long way away but it's good that people recognize your hard work." Brandon center Nolan Patrick is No. 1 on Central Scouting's midterm ranking of North American skaters. Halifax center Nico Hischier is No. 2. Vilardi admits he's not yet focused on the 2017 draft. He has many teammates who experienced the same process in 2016, including Logan Brown (Ottawa Senators), Logan Stanley (Winnipeg Jets), Mikhail Sergachev (Montreal Canadiens) and Sean Day (New York Rangers). "When you watch the NHL players, they bring it every night, they're always working hard," Vilardi said. "I'm a three-zone player. I'm a big player who works hard down low, am good at making plays off the cycle and seeing plays before they happen." Thompson said Vilardi worked very hard on his skating in the offseason and it is the most improved area of his game. "He's so well-rounded and smart," Thompson said. "He's extremely coachable; you can make adjustments in-game and change systems and he can adapt to those things because his hockey sense on the ice is very apparent." Vilardi is a natural center but has alternated between center and left wing this season because of injuries throughout the Windsor lineup. He also hasn't allowed his Canadian upbringing to phase out his Italian heritage. When he isn't scoring goals or creating plays for the Spitfires, he's kicking around a soccer ball or watching the Italian soccer club Inter Milan with his father Lino. "I chose to play hockey but I play soccer in the summer with my dad and brother," Vilardi said. "As long as I can remember, though, I've always wanted to be a hockey player. I had some success at a young age and pushed even harder to develop, and I think that's why I stuck with it." Vilardi's parents are first generation Italians who moved to Kingston, Ontario. His brother, Francesco, who plays for Queen's University in U Sports, started playing hockey when he was 5. Gabriel, four years younger than his brother, soon followed. His teammates in Windsor are grateful he chose hockey over soccer. "He's the most hard-working guy I've ever been around," Windsor goaltender Michael DiPietro said. "All he wants to do is be a hockey player and everything he does is centered around the game. That's something I admire about him." It makes sense DiPietro would recognize Vilardi's work habits since that's what Vilardi feels sets him apart from other prospects in this draft class. "I like to work hard; whenever I'm in a 50-50 puck race, I want to win those battles," Vilardi said. "My mindset is, I want to always get better. That's the biggest thing." Vilardi will have a golden opportunity to shine on the Canadian Hockey League's biggest stage when the 99th Mastercard Memorial Cup tournament is held in Windsor from May 18-28. The host team receives an automatic invitation to participate against the champions from the Ontario Hockey League, Western Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. ~ I like how he seems like the type of guy that is never satisfied with his game and always trying to improve. Some people have red flagged his skating, but according to Thompson it is the most improved aspect of his game. Personally I value hockey IQ at the top of the list of qualities for a young players potential, and it would seem he's got it according to Matt Ryan of NHL's central scouting. This guy seems like a Benning/Aquaman guy all the way. Benning loves young players in the top ten (Virtanen) Aqua loves his Italians (Sbisa, Luongo, etc.). Anyways just wanted to share the article with you all so we can hear from guys who actually coached and scouted him rather than some goof who watched a highlight package on his mobile phone. This article definetly puts Gabe back in the 5th o/a consideration. I want Vilardi or Glass, not really sold on Middlestat, and the euro D men look good but defenseman gems can be unearthed in the later rounds ( I also think that for a defenseman, international ice gives them a LOT more room to get shots through and a LOT more time to make a play at the blue line ) Necas = just not feeling him @ 5th. Makar = draft day gem, but i feel his size will have him fall down a few draft spots. After reading lots of great discussion over these hundreds of pages I want Vilardi or Glass but obviously wont be disappointed with any other of the considerations as it looks like there are many good players available at 5.
  24. Nice to see his big league shot and skating shining through in that highlight package. He looked a step ahead of a lot of the D men he was playing against there. my favourite parts were when the other teams tried to hit him, but instead ran into a brick wall, and when he scored the tap in types he immideatly points at the player who made the assist to thank him for the crisp pass. He seems to be progressing and maturing and still has the tool box that made him the 6th o/a. This kid is gunna make the team. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but He's gunna make the team!
  25. In one of the recent Canucks-Flames games , there was a play where Rodin skated behind the net and made a quick pivot. Immediately I noticed an intense grimace on his face like he tweaked his knee, and he has a very expressive face. John and John didn't pick up on it which I found surprising because they are usually very good at noticing the little details. I kept a special eye on him and he seemed to be in pain. A little later on John and John commented on how they thought the trainer was going to tend to Tyramkin but instead went and talked to Rodin on the bench. My point being that I suspect Rodins lack of ice time is not a "lul" in coaching by W.D., but rather Anton being on light duty as to not re-aggravate his knee injury again.
