  1. #1 money to keep him, 5 millskies is too much (given our cap challenges) #2 Speed, with or without a foot injury, he's too slow #3 Grit, he has none.
  2. would be a bad choice to keep Toffoli
  3. I think he holds back and instead plays the defensive box, as coached, and cautiously picks a spot to hit, so he's not caught. He knows if he's caught it's back to 5th line for him
  4. IF they can beat Vegas, they beat two legit contenders (St. Louis & Vegas), it's not a crazy statement. I do think MacKinnon is the best player in the league right now though.
  5. I tend to agree with both of you a little. Watching Jake, I see a player who is both afraid of the opposing players and his coach. I assume he's getting mixed messages about being physical, but if he hits and causes an odd-man rush, he sits, so he has to overthink his physicality and his game. I also think he doesn't have a supporting cast of grinders/skill to support a heavy/cycle game to keep a cycle going, so a lot of his hits are 1 and done, and then the puck is out of the zone and heading for a scoring chance the other way. Overall, I think he wants to play a heavy game, but is so damn tentative/confused because of coaching, supporting cast, but most importantly the opposition's ability to turn nothing into something so fast with their speed, stick play and overall breaking down the Canuck's systems in all zones (offensive, defensive and neutral zones)
  6. To me Fatty is the most physical player on our team right now (Defence or forward). Every hit is solid, jarring in fact, he just doesn't let up. He doesn't get enough credit.
  7. Sutter is also a Malhotra-type player too
  8. Kesler breathing is annoying. Sounds like he's vaping...
  9. I agree, he quite physical and decent shot. He's been better than I thought or knew.
  10. I'll omit last night's game because he was utterly terrible, but I have been noticing Jamie for all the wrong reasons lately. He appears to be getting out worked on the boards, and out hustled to pucks. For a 6'2" he plays much smaller and appears to be slow and tires fast. On the other hand, Fatenburg (6'0" ft) has been surprisingly OK-good, I don't know if he has more hits, but his hits are much harder, and Fatty gets his shot through.
  11. Last nights stats say that Virtanen had 1 hit last night and I can't recall it. To me he needs to have 4-6 a night to be effective and contributing, ala Motte. BTW, Motte had 3 hits (on his first game back) and Ferland had 4 (2 I remember).
  12. I'm with you, he was pretty much invisible last night. Right now all Jake needs to do is move his feet, run around and throw hits, that would be enough for me.
  13. I swear he was double and triple shifted tonight in the third. I like what I see from him, just needs to drive the net. His speed will also draw penalties (should have drawn one on that hook!)
  14. I find that JV looks small out there and needs to add weight if he's going to play a physical. If not, he will get injured. Anyone else?
