  1. So neither deal happens a then. Because there’s zero chance either of the other teams makes those swaps.
  2. I think it’s more likely Nashville would. I don’t know that Vancouver has the wiggle room to take the extra cap though. It’s probably just not a fit.
  3. I think the problem is your insistence that they retain. So they have a cap hit of $8m on Boeser and Vancouver has a cap hit of $6.65 on Johansen. We’ve weary agreed that Johansen is the more useful player. So them paying more for the less useful player doesn’t seem reasonable to me. Take the retention out and there’s a chance it happens. I think retention on him would be a non starter when the return is a player who is already overpaid at $6.65m
  4. You suggested the plus be a fringe prospect. Do you really think Nashville does the trade to get a fringe prospect?
  5. As you said Boeser is 26. I would t say there’s a lot of runway left for him developing. He scored 18 this year. Holding out hope he’ll be a consistent 30-40 goal scorer seems pretty unlikely. Especially when you take his skating into consideration. Neither player is worth $8m a year but of the two I’d take a rugged C who can contribute away from the puck over the streaky winger
  6. Dvorak is signed for 2 years. Hardly “long term”. They were forced to use 10 centres last season due to injuries. Having Dvorak is a safety net while their young C prospects develop. You can always shift a C to the wings. It’s a lot harder to ho the other way. As their roster stands right now their starting C depth is Suzuki, Dach, Dvorak and Evans. They have some guys that can fill in at C but I think they prefer to stay strong up the middle. They’ll likely choose a C with the 5th OA pick but there’s no guarantee that player will be ready to play C in the NHL in the next couple years. I don’t think they want to rush kids like Beck Also, Hughes is on record as saying they like Anderson and aren’t interested in moving him. They reportedly turned down an offer of a 1st for him last season. Edmundson is a free agent after this year and with the way their young D prospects stepped up last season I’m sure they’ll look to move him if possible.
  7. His cap is fine but I just don’t see how moving a reliable 3C for a redundant middle 6 (at best) undersized winger would hold any appeal for them
  8. The problem is neither Boeser nor Garland are a fit for what Montréal would be looking for
  9. Miller’s NMC kicks in July 1st. So that should put an end to the lions share of the rumours.
  10. That’s why Montreal keeps him over the 2 guys offered. He’s a great 3C who’s a little overpaid. Lets them keep Evans as their 4C. Providing they avoid injuries like they had last year they have solid depth down the middle. Moving him for a winger makes no sense.
  11. The equivalent of paying him $8m then. $6.65 + the $1.35m the op suggested Nashville retain in the original proposal. That’s $8m to have Boeser rather than Johansen
  12. The proposal was for Nashville to retain $1.35m on Johansen
  13. What’s in it for Nashville? Do you think they’d be substantially happier paying Boeser $8m a year than Johansen?
  14. Not really. Montreal has excellent depth at most positions but are lacking many game breaking prospects. They’ve had incredibly bad luck with injuries the past two seasons but that’s allowed them to test out a number of their prospects. They have several that are NHL ready. Montreal can afford to take the most take the most talented player available and wait for them. That said. If Carlsson is there at 5 they take him. No question
  15. I doubt Montreal has any interest in trading a centre for a winger and taking on extra cap or term doing it. Also. I don’t see Boeser or Garlabd as fits for their roster. . They play a speed game and Boeser can’t keep up. Garland is a better fit in that regard but another small winger isn’t really what they need when they already have Caufield, Gallagher, Harvey-Pinard and Farrell coming in at 5’9” or smaller
  16. Sure. But is moving important assets for a 30 year old winger with a bad contract and a NMC the way to go? I doubt it.
  17. It’s the contract that Miller signed that’s the problem. Carolina tends to shy away from older players with long term. Millers contract will be an albatross at some point. They may need to add but I think they look elsewhere. And I think KK is poised to have a big year. I doubt they’re looking to move him
  18. I think Carolina’s need to do something is a bit overblown. They were missing Svechnikov and Pacioretty for the entire run. They lost 4 very close games. One of those guys could have been the difference. I doubt their GM is panicking
  19. Yeah. I’m not positive it applies to him. But I suspect it does
  20. Tryamkin hadn’t completed 3 professional (NHL) seasons. Kravstov has
  21. Not sure why you’re quoting me. He was a long shot reclamation project when the Canucks squired him and he did nothing to raise his value. Now he’s taking his puck and he’s going home. Guy was a huge waste of a high pick
  22. Minimal. Then he signed a 2 year contract in the KHL that might March him directly to UFA status. So yeah. He has no value now
  23. However you want to look at it. Columbus isn’t going to move 3rd OA in this years draft for a great 30 year old with what will be an albatross of a contract in a few years. Carlsson (or whoever they pick out of the top 3 left after Chicago and Anaheim take Bedard Fantilli 1/2 is too valuable an asset in todays cap world
