  1. Like I said. Possible. But seriously doubt it. Lol
  2. Ottawa only has $41m committed to players for next season. That said, they only have 9 players under contract. They shouldn’t have any problem hitting the cap floor by simply filling out their roster. But I guess there’s a small chance that if they do need a higher dollar contract they could look at Eriksson. I seriously doubt it. But it’s possible. Lol
  3. I’d be willing to be real money that there is no way that will happen. The Luongo penalty has no actually Dollar amount attached to it. It costs the Aquilinis nothing. It lowers the cap available to the Canucks, but that’s exactly what it was meant to do. Keep in mind that when the Canucks we’re reaping the advantages of Luongo’s contract structure the cap was less than $60m. I doubt you’ll find much sympathy from the league now.
  4. Look at your premise another way. If you’re saying owners will greatly restrict GM’s in their spending, it’s certainly possible. But here’s the thing. A big market team with cap space (for instance Montreal) May see a UFA they’re interested in (let’s say Toffoli just for ease.). Since they’re already committed to spending less than Vancouver and they have the cap space to do it, they could easily outbid a cap strapped team like Vancouver. It won’t happen for every free agent. But the top guys will always get their money in pretty much every circumstance.
  5. You’re counting the 4.4million active cases in your numbers. You can’t do there they aren’t all going to recover. In fact, the numbers show that 8-9% of them will die. Even with your flawed math the death rate is more than 10 times what you stated it was (4.8% compared to the less than 0.5% rate you stated). You’re literally wrong on every level.
  6. Do the math. Don’t look at total cases. Look at closed cases. 5.6 million recovered 517,000 dead. That’s 6,000,000 resolved cases and 517,000 deaths. Still 8.6% mortality rate globally. Your .05% mortality rate is pure nonsense
  7. Fake pandemic? Seriously? btw your math is seriously flawed. Here are the numbers for resolved cases in the US. (Resolved meaning discharged from the hospital or died. That’s a 10% mortality rate amoungst resolved cases. That’s a far cry from your stated 0.5% death rate.
  8. You’re incorrect. Signing bonuses ARE subject to escrow. The advantage of signing bonuses to players are they aren’t included in buyout calculations and are paid regardless of a work stoppage
  9. Covid will make it a buyers market. Only so many teams have surplus cap space. That said the top UFA’s will get their money. They always do. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Vancouvers free agents. Barring a trade to free up cap space I don’t see Benning being able to keep everyone. As far as Markstrom goes. If he’s not resigned I seriously doubt anyone will give up a 3rd + a higher conditional pick for his rights. The league is bound to keep the negotiating period leading up to free agency. UFA rights simply don’t hold that value.
  10. From the sounds of things the league and the NHLPA are closing in on a deal to extend the CBA with modifications. There hasnt been a single mention of compliance buyouts by anyone reporting on the negotiations. Anyone still dreaming of a compliance buyout should probably put that one to bed
  11. Pittsburgh winning would be ridiculous too. They have a 40-23-6 record ffs. Plus they’d get Lefreniere just as their two generational players are starting to slow down? I would not be ok with that.
  12. I think the only way it gets muddy is if the games get cancelled mid play-in round. Let’s say it gets cancelled after 4 games. Some teams have moved on but the Canucks and Wild are tied 2/2. That could get interesting. Lol. But at that point the lottery wouldn’t have happened. So no danger of losing a lottery pick there either
  13. If they finish the play in. And the season is subsequently cancelled in the following round (or later). Vancouver would keep the pick. The seeding for the bottom 15 teams would be set at that point. The seeding for the other teams would depend on how far the playoffs get.
  14. The play-in round doesn’t count as playoffs. If they lose they’d be considered to have missed the playoffs and they keep their pick
  15. If the season doesn’t go ahead the 8-15 spots will be allotted you points percentage. Vancouver wouldn’t be in the lotto, they would be considered to have made the playoffs and the non lotto pick would go to NJ. If they manage to complete the play in round then the losers on the play in round will be included in the lotto. If Vancouver loses they’re in the lottery and keep their pick. If they win they’re considered to be in the playoffs. They’re not in the lotto for 1st overall and surrender their pick In no situation do they surrender a lotto pick
  16. Take out Boeser, Ericksson, Chabot and Demko and then you’ve got it. Doubt Ottawa does it. But any notion of dumping Eriksson in the deal is pure fantasy
  17. That’s awful for Ottawa. Would you do 3,5 Hughes for 1st, Ryan, Hogberg?
  18. First of all. This isnt an announcement that the cap WILL remain level. It’s reporting on discussion that still need to be voted on. Second, if this goes through there is zero chance there will be a compliance buyout. If they’re keeping Escrow artificially low there’s no way they’ll allow compliance buyouts (which raise escrow) that would be further compounding the problems that they’re trying to solve. To illustrate that point. Compliance buyouts aren’t even mentioned in the article. So I don’t know where you’re getting the idea that they’re a possibility
  19. Alberta’s numbers are very encouraging as well, and they are willing to work with the league to make the games happen. At this point I still think it’s up in the air as to whether or not we actually see any games.
  20. From the sounds of it it’s not that the NHL doesn’t want to play in Vancouver. It’s that the BC government isn’t willing to make concessions that will allow for it.
  21. Providing he met the requirement of being under contract and he played the required number of games. Yes. Honestly though. It should t be a problem for most teams to meet the requirements of 5 eligible players.
  22. Each team is required to expose a minimum of 2 eligible forwards, 1 eligible D and 1 eligible goalie.
  23. Players in the minors aren’t subject to escrow. Eriksson would actually make substantially more money in Utica. Not much of a deterrent
