  1. I’m sure they’d be fine with that if it means getting Bedard
  2. Why does it matter? Virtanen was a local boy abd look how that turned out. Players pick the best fit for their career. I imagine proximity to home holds fairly little weight in the decision making process
  3. Yes I’m sure his wife being a cow several years ago was Greer’s motivation for him to viciously cross check him in the face. Makes total sense.
  4. He deserved a stick to the face ? For what reason? And don’t give me that crap about his wife. What did he do in game to get cross checked in the face ?
  5. I think there’s always going to be reprisals when you’re talking the star players. But the league needs to consistently enforce the instigator rule to at least cut down on the it. It shouldn’t be after EVERY big hit. Having to fight every time you lay a big hit is starting to lead to a league where you seldom see big hits.
  6. He had just played the puck. A fraction of a second late maybe. It’s not like it was 2-3 seconds late. The hit itself was as clean as they come. I just think the whole having to defend yourself after every big hit phenomenon is ridiculous (and the leagues board of governors apparently agrees).
  7. The league JUST talked about cracking down on having to defend yourself after a clean hit.
  8. It was a clean hit. He kept his elbow in and it wasn’t even late. (Although they did call it interference).
  9. Should have been more. There was nothing accidental about that cross check to the face
  10. I assume it’s a phone hearing. Deserves at least 2 games
  11. A bit surprised Sergechev didn’t get a hearing for this one. That was an extremely dangerous play that resulted in what appears to be a season ending injury. And not so much as a 2 minute penalty.
  12. Well you have SJ. taking back $13.5m in cap. If you assume they’re willing to do thst in a Vancouver deal what’s stopping them from doing the same for another team and getting a better return? if you’re going to structure a potential deal like that you have to admit that a contender would happily do the same thing but give a much better return in order to take a couple runs at the cup
  13. It’s not a new rule. So while it may technically be possible, how many times have you seen it happen? Ever?
  14. Players can still be traded after the deadline. But they aren’t eligible for playoffs if they are. So. That’s why there’s a deadline.
  15. You’re not asking them to take $20m in cap hits. You’re asking for over $60m spread over 4 seasons. And you’re offering nothing of substantial value. This isn’t remotely realistic.
  16. Vancouver has the 3rd easiest remaining schedule and don’t have any significant injuries. It’s pretty likely they leapfrog Philly and St Louis in the standings.
  17. Teams have to find ways to work within the cap. Just like they always havw since the inception of the cap. If a team is up against the cap that’s their problem to solve .
  18. Compliance buy outs contribute to raising escrow. The players and the owners committed to lowering escrow after the pandemic caused the players to have a huge debt to be paid off (hence the almost flat cap). They aren’t going to turn around and implement an unnecessary compliance buyout that will only serve to keep the cap flat even longer
  19. There won’t be a compliance buyout. Guaranteed
  20. Montreal has the most difficult strength of schedule left. Vancouver has the 2nd weakest SOS. It’ll be interesting to see what the final standings look like
