I don't see how this is a fit for Vegas. They're already over the cap and you want them to swap a big, right shot waiver exempt D for an undersized winger who requires waivers and isn't a clear upgrade on any of the 13 forwards they have in their current lineup

[Report/Rumour] Elias Pettersson Contract Talks
qwijibo replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
So you want to cancel reporters for doing thier job? Most media understand they need to maintain a cordial relationship with the players, and most players understand its part of their job to interact with the media. Contract status for star players is always going to garner attention tion and illicit questions from reporters. Again. Part of the job for both the media and the players -

I don't see how Matthew's signing would have any barring on it. It sounds like he wants to see the direction the team is taking before he signs. He wants to play on a team with a shot at winning -

Its already been reported that he wont be negotiating a new deal this summer. The only way it's resolved before the season starts is if he's traded. -
Come on man. Odds makers do in depth studies to an extreme degree to come up with the odds. Their jobs depend on it. Get it wrong to a largevdegree and the company that employs them stands to lose a lot of money. (And they likely end up looking for a new job). You may not like the odds they come up with. But to think they didn't take every important aspect into consideration is inane. Don't like the prediction? Think you know better? Stick it too them and lay a bet down and collect if you're right

[Report] Mailloux suspended indefinitely by OHL
qwijibo replied to qwijibo's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Well. When you consider it took Montreal the better part of a century to win all theirs. A lot of them came in a 6 team league, and none came in a 32 team league with a salary cap, yeah. 200-300 years minimum seems right. Lol For the record, even though I'm Montreal fan I have NEVER used the 24 cups boast because they're irrelevant to today for all the reasons I listed above. -

That's a lot of cups to make up for. You're likely going to be running them down for the rest of your life. -

People who hate Montreal will hang on to what the kid did forever just so they can run him and the franchise down. -

If anyone is interested The Athletic just dropped their ranking of Vancouvers' prospect pool. They came in 24th. -
cap space, Prospect pool 4. Montreal Canadiens Top three prospects: David Reinbacher, Lane Hutson, Filip Mesar Top pick in 2023: David Reinbacher From an organizational standpoint, Montreal’s blueline is brimming with potential. From Jordan Harris, Justin Barron, Kaiden Guhle and Arber Xhekaj who all spent time in the NHL this season, to Reinbacher and Hutson who are perhaps the best prospects of the bunch, it’s obscene depth. Then there’s the talented but problematic Logan Mailloux, who was inexplicably picked and signed. Hutson’s skillset is off the charts, while Reinbacher was the most NHL-ready defender in this year’s draft. Up front, Owen Beck, Joshua Roy, Filip Mesar and Sean Farrell will all challenge for roster spots at camp, looking to add to the young core in Montreal. 21 picks in the next 2 drafts. - draft capital

He probably should have spent time in the minors. Generally I think it's a mistake to rush any 18 year old kid into the show. He was showing signs of aclimating to the north American game when he got hurt and was shut down for the year. Montreal was inundated with injuries last year with only Suzuki managing to play 82 games. As a result there was a lot of player and line juggling. Slafkovsky should show much better this season if he's able to come to camp healthy. Personally I'd love to see them start him in Laval to let him get a lot of ice time and build his confidence back up.

With LTIR they have rough $7m in cap space for this seadon. The cap is expected to rise significantly next season. So yes. They have cap space. As far as prospects go they have a top 5 prospects pool right now. They have NHL quality prospects at every position. They're still lacking superstar talent but moving Savard isn't likely to bring in an asset that will get them that. Draft capital wise they have 21 picks in the next 2 drafts.
