  1. He also has 15 points in 27 on a team that sold off almost every decent asset. Last season he had 43 points in 56 games. At $3.4m he may not return a bounty but he’ll be movable without being considered a negative asset.
  2. Chychrun has been deemed untouchable. In Arizona. Also, Kessel at 50% retention isn’t a negative value asset.
  3. Just to put the final nail in this, Toffoli just had wrist surgery and is out 8 weeks
  4. You’re mixing the numbers together. If they buy him out then They won’t have Pearson’s cap hit on top of that. The only circumstance where they have both cap hits is if they trade Kane at your proposed 50% retention and take back Pearson. in which case it’s $6.75m for this year and 2 additional years , plus an extra year of $3.5m rents toon at the end. So they can -keep him in the minors for the full 4 seasons at $5.85m cap hit -buy him out for a lower cap hit but have an extra 2 seasons at $1.7m -do the proposed trade and have a cap hit for Pearson equal to $6.75m for this season plus 2 more plus an extra year at $3.5m Personally I think the trade route where they retain AND take back a bad contract is the least appealing option
  5. 3 years. It’s funny how you look at Kane’s contract as 4 years and Pearson’s as 2 when in reality Kane’s is up in 4 years and Pearson’s is up in 3. You’re essentially asking San Jose to pay Pearson $6.75m for 3 seasons and then another season of dead cap of $3.5m. the buyout is substantially less damaging to them. Even with the extra 2 years of $1.7m dead cap
  6. Except you’re asking them to take Pearson’s contract AND retain $3.5m/year on Kane. Factor the retention in and it’s cheaper to buy him out. Hell. Cap wise it’s better for them just keep him buried in the minors than to take that deal
  7. Petry had been pretty bad this year. Not sure what the issue is. Regardless he’ll still garner a big price if they decide to move him
  8. No. He looked really good in his games in Montreal up until he took two pucks to the face in the same game. He’s struggled with migraines and vision issues since. I’m not sure what his health status is now but if he’s close to 100% he can be a solid bottom 4 physical shut down D
  9. The details actually do matter. Montreal currently has over $54m worth of players out due to injury or covid. They haven’t iced a healthy lineup a single game this year.
  10. Minnesota is 18- 6-1 Why would they upset their team chemistry doing this trade
  11. The NHL did away with draft pick compensation for teams hiring other teams front office staff quite awhile ago. In fact I believe Vancouver was the last team that actually benefited from it. All that said I don’t see why Vegas would allow Vancouver to talk to McPhee when they clearly want to keep him in the organization
  12. Your argument was Montreal has drafted poorly. They haven’t. Look. I’m not a huge Bergevin supporter. He had his strengths and weaknesses. His strength laid in trades. Where he generally got very good value. Team drafting while he was there was ok. They only drafted top 10 twice. He turned Galchenyuk into Domi into Anderson so I’d call that a win. The Sergechev deal was a loss. And ultimately Kotkaniemi is still to be determined. (Not matching the $6.1m offer sheet was absolutely the correct call) Bergevin’s biggest weakness was roster construction and being handcuffed by the ridiculous need to have a French coach. The francophone requirement isn’t going away but hopefully the new GM will have better luck with roster construction (and getting a decent coach) This years high draft pick will hopefully yield a difference maker. They have have several young high upside players in the organization and some talented younger players already. I don’t think the future is nearly as bleak as you do. That said there’s certainly pain in Montreal’s future
  13. The concept that Montreal has drafted poorly is a misconception. They have finished middle of the pack for most of Bergevin’s tenor and only picked top 10 twice. Despite that Montreal drafted players have accumulated the 2nd most man games played since 2016. They don’t have any superstar prospects (Caufield MIGHT get there) but they have a lot of quality future NHL’ers in the system right now. (Including Guhle who could likely be team Canada’s captain in the upcoming world juniors)
  14. Your fan gatekeeping means as much to me as the rest of your opinions. So I’m done. You’re on ignore and I’ll continue as I always have
  15. I live in BC and watch every Canucks game. Just because my main team is Montreal doesn’t mean I can’t root for Vancouver.
  16. I’m not going to get into a pissing match with you over who has better prospects. Montreal is bad this year. No debate. They’re also missing half their lineup. It’s going to be a long season. But a little food for thought. Vancouver is only 5 points ahead of them.
  17. Lol I’m a troll now ? That’s rich. Tell you what. You go ahead and put me on ignore and I’ll return the favour.
  18. The negative value comes from his age, the size of his contract, the length of his contract, and his play relative to his cost. Even if his play miraculously improves to the point where he’s only slightly overpaid the other issues still make him a no go for any team rebuilding b
  19. Lol. 1 game? You consider all of Vancouver’s issues solved after 1 game? Ok. It still doesn’t address the fact that Myers holds negative value to a rebuilding team like Montreal
  20. 3 lines going? Vancouver is 28th in the league for goals for/game. Just ahead of Montreal. I wouldn’t say they have 3 lines going. Regardless a rebuilding team line Montreal has no use for a 31 year old $6m boat anchor with 3 years left on his contract.
  21. Gorton thanks Vancouver for the good laugh then hangs up
  22. Painful to watch but ultimately good for the franchise. If the fans are going to suffer through this season at least get a top 3/4 pick. No sense rallying to get a mid teen pick which will then go to Arizona
  23. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Montreal make a claim given all their injuries.
