  1. I don’t know that Washington bites on this. Not that the value is bad. But they’re currently 4th in the league in goals scored and have an impressive +20 goal differential. They don’t really need to add a player like a Miller. and this trade creates a hole at 3C by moving Eller. Seems like a lateral move for them at best. At the cost of a 1st+
  2. Pittsburgh (like Vancouver) are into LTIR overages. Very few teams have the cap space to do a deal for pucks and prospects. The teams that do have the cap discs wouldn’t be interested in an older, short term asset like Miller.
  3. The new CBA no longer allows for picks conditional on a player re-signing
  4. Seattle built their team with a long term game plan in mind. They passed up older more talented players with short contracts I. Favour of young guys wth size. I don’t see the logic in them trading for a guy that’s UFA after next season. Also what are the conditions in the pick,? And why 2024?
  5. The Rangers come out on the short end on every aspect of that proposal.
  6. Oh good. The all caps lock posts are back. Btw. That loss was 100% on Hughes. He took a selfish penalty at a crucial time knowing full well how badly the pk is struggling.
  7. Ottawa just named Tkachuk team captain after locking him up for 8 years. They want guys who are committed to being there. I doubt they have interest in swapping him for Pettersson. (Who grr we kid out almost as long and ended up taking a 3 year bridge contract). Also. Pettersson has looked disinterested since he came back. Tkachuk has been engaged and doing what he does.
  8. Montreal is struggling worse than Vancouver. But I still don’t see how Brisebois is an upgrade on anyone they have in the lineup
  9. There’s 25 or so teams ahead of them in waiver priority
  10. Sure. But you’re massively overstating those risks. 20% thst he’ll be out of hockey in a year? Come on. I’m sure Vegas consulted actual experts before making the trade. If the risk was actually that high they never would have made the trade.
  11. It’s been done on a MMA fighter. It’s also been done on rugby players and hockey players at lower levels. Saying there’s a 20% chance he’ll be out of hockey in a year is just alarmist just because it hadn’t been done on a NHL player prior to Eichel doesn’t mean it’s not a safe, legitimate option
  12. Why would NJ ever consider that trade? A young top 6 winger, a huge top 4 D and 2 firsts for an undersized offensively gifted but somewhat one dimensional D. Beyond Karlsson I can’t think of a player that’s netted that kind of return in the past 20 years. You’re clearly overvaluing how much NJ would want to have all 3 Hughes brothers. They aren’t going to gut the organization for what amounts to a publicity stunt
  13. He never coached the Wild. He started in Montreal. Then NJ, Boston, and then Montreal again
  14. Julien is a dinosaur. He doesn’t trust his young players and relegates them to roles they’re not suited to play. I doubt you’ll find a Montreal fan that was sad to see him relieved of his duties
  15. Give it a rest. The Canucks have drawn a league leading 74 penalties while only taking 65. They’re tied for 7th for the best net penalty differential. Bad calls happen to every team. Take a breath. And for christ sakes turn off your caps lock
  16. You can’t have a pick conditional on a player re-signing anymore
  17. Cool. I disagree but I can understand your point. Pacioretty scores goals. A lot of them. That upped his value significantly. I’d say their comparative value is close. As such I imagine the return will be roughly similar. Expecting a bigger return for Miller if he’s moved is likely setting yourself up for disappointment
  18. Pacioretty had a discount season left on his contract when he was moved as well. Montreal got Vegas’s 2nd or 3rd best profile to at the time, a 2nd snd a cap dump with upside. No way Miller has substantially more value
  19. He also scored 30 or more goals the previous 4 seasons. Plus Tatar was considered a cap dump. I’d say overall Pacioretty probably had more value but even if you say they have similar value you’re still asking for more for Miller. Either take the 1st out or Schneider out and you’re closer to the value
  20. That’s more than Vegas paid for Pacioretty, and they had a deal to extend him in place.
