  1. I got to see him play in Edmonton in 88 when he was a ranger. I drove up from Red Deer just to see him play. He had a 4 point night. Was awesome.
  2. I broke my tibia and fibula at the same time. Twist break. They considered amputating bellow the knee to prevent a blood clot from letting go and going to my heart. Fortunately they decided against it. Nasty business twist breaks
  3. You have this completely backwards. Montreal has next to no recapture if Weber. retires. On the other hand Nashville has close to $25m total recapture to repay
  4. I suspect we differ on our definition of elite. That said I think he has the potential to be a very good player and it’s a loss for Montreal
  5. People throw the word elite around way too much. Kotkaniemi has some high end skills snd if he’s able to put his game together he should be a very good top 6 player. I doubt he’ll ever be considered elite
  6. How exactly did he let his pride get in his way? He was negotiating a 2 year bridge contract based on Kotkaniemi‘a current value when Carolina stepped in with an offersheet far above market value. Bergevin had to consider not only this years cap but upcoming contracts for Suzuki, Romanov and Canfield. He made the best of a bad situation and came out with a very good young player in Dvorak (for the record Arizona fans are furious about trading Dvorak and getting an underwhelming return)
  7. Suzuki looks legit. Dvorak is solid as a 2, better as a 3. Evans could be a great 3. Too early to tell. 4 c can be covered by one of Paquette/Perreault. It really depends on how Dvorak does in the 2C role. He’ll be playing with much better wingers in Montreal . He could surprise. Much like Miller did when he got to Vancouver. Put the player in a position to succeed with quality line mates and see what happens
  8. Hes good on face offs, solid on his skates (if a bit slow) and scores the bulk of his goals parked in front of the net. He’s a very different from Kotkaniemi but in the short term at least he’s a better option at the 2C spot than Kotkaniemi would have been. Long term I think Kotkaniemi will be the superior player. But for now Montreal is better because of this fiasco
  9. He’s got the skill. I think the knee injury he suffered in his sophomore season really set him back. It’s a loss to Montreal l. That said I like what Dvorak will bring to the team.
  10. The extension will be interesting. Along with how Kotkaniemi does in a new organization playing on the wing rather than C.
  11. And it was a good opportunity to get revenge for the Aho offersheet
  12. It can be. I’m not arguing that. I’m saying Waddell is full of crap with his statement that revenge didn’t play in. It was clearly a factor unless you believe they think Kotkaniemi is worth $6.1m
  13. I acknowledged they like the player. What I’m disputing us Waddell’s statement that it wasn’t motivated by revenge
  14. They overpaid Kotkaniemi by $3.5m to try to screw Montreal. Now that Bergevin didn’t take the bait snd they’re the ones paying the bill the GM has to try to put a positive spin on it
  15. Since we’re playing “what if?” What if Montreal’s pick is top 10 so Arizona gets Carolinas pick. And what if Arizona’s pick is somewhere between 27-32? Then it’s one hell of a deal isn’t it? What if Dvorak thrives in Montreal and Kotkaniemi continues to struggle? Bottom line is Bergevin took a crap situation and navigated it beautifully
  16. I’d love to see Kotkaniemi stick it to Waddel and force him to honour the $6.1m qualifying offer or take him to arbitration
  17. Such a load of crap. It was petty as hell and the social media account played that aspect up. If you’re going to be petty you may as well own it. I’m sure they like Kotkaniemi as a player. But the way this played out was 100% motivated by revenge
  18. Kotkaniemi at $6,1m is not a killer deal. It’s a massive overpay. I hope it bites them in the ass
  19. First off. Bergevin, not Bergeron. If you’re going to be smarmy at least get the name right. Lol. To be fair. It was an extra 1st. Its the first time in his entire tenure he’s traded a first. Plus this was a very unique situation. All in all I don’t feel bad defending my position that under normal circumstances he doesn’t move first round picks.
