You should maybe take another look at Bostons cap space. They have currently have just shy of $11m of cap space but only have 14 players players signed. You’re suggesting a deal where they end up with 15 players signed and $2m of cap space. Think that works for them?

[REPORT] Pierre-Luc Dubois has requested a trade
qwijibo replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think Guhle is untouchable. Mailloux could probably be had. Problem for Montreal is that the Jets are reportedly not looking to rebuild so they want NHL players. Not pure futures. Montreal really only has futures to offer (beyond the untouchables) -

If that’s the price then he’s going to LA. -

There was definitely some of that. But a lot of Montreal fans just don’t want to overpay for a guy who’s fallen out of favour with two teams already. He’s a good player but there are red flags and a lot of fans don’t want a repeat of the Drouin fiasco -
I did no such thing. Montreal literally has no use for Garland

I think Edmundson will return a 2nd or 3rd (probably with retention). Montreal has one of the deeper prospect pools right now so I doubt any of Vancouver’s prospects would interest them. I doubt they’re looking to buy out Hoffman. They’re fine on cap right now so there’s no need to prolong his cap hit. Also. They have several NHL ready winger prospects who saw action last season (Belzile, Farrell, RHP) so I can’t see them being interested in Beaulivier at his cap hit.

Where to start 1) there have only been 2 sign and trade transactions in the league in the salary cap era. Both were significantly better players than Burroughs and both were to facilitate an 8 year contract. The concept that any team will give up value in a sign and trade for him is laughable. Players like him can be acquired through the waiver wire. 2) you clearly have no understanding of how LTIR works. Acquiring Poolman wouldn’t give Dallas extra cap space. so really you’re offering them nothing of value for Faksa 3) Juulsen is a UFA. 4) no one is trading for Bear. Certainly not a 2nd. There’s a good chance Vancouver doesn’t even qualify him 5) I seriously doubt Dries is enough of a sweetener to get Detroit to take Myers at his full cap hit

[Proposal] 3 way trade Chi - Van - NjD

Vancouver turn 11OA into 35oa, 43OA, 58OA and two good young RFA’s? Neat trick. -
A Blockbuster On Draft Day (proposal) VAN/ MTL / WPG

I agree with your assessment of Hughes. But disagree that it’s a forgone conclusion he ends up in Montreal. He and Brisson have said they’ll work with the Jets on a list of 5-6 teams he’d be willing to do a sign and trade with. The Only reason to do a sign and trade is to get the 8th year on the contract. He could end up on another team long term and co side ting he wants $9m a year I suspect Hughes is fine with that. -

I actually wouldn’t be surprised to see PLD traded with an extension to another team. I think Montreal has interest but they aren’t going to overpay for him considering his contract demands. If someone else bids more gir him I think Hughes is prepared to walk away -
The CBA calls for a 50/50 split of HRR between the owners and players. How that’s split up is up to the GM’s and the players and Their agents. It cost significant lockout time to get to that agreement so complaining about something that is working and was agreed to by both sides doesn’t seem productive

[signing] Monahan re-signs with Canadiens.
qwijibo replied to qwijibo's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I’m sure he would. But there’s zero incentive for Montreal to move him short of something the Canucks wouldn’t give up. Hughes targeted him and bought low on him. He fits in perfectly with their young core and he’s signed to a discount contract for 3 more years. He’s just not a piece they’ll move for any reasonable offer -

Montreal bought low on him after he came off a wrist injury. He showed very well with Montréal prior to getting hurt and spent time as a winger with Caufield and Suzuki. What you’re offering is actually far less than what they gave up to get him. Hughes specifically went out and targeted Dach as a player he wanted. It’s insane to think they’d ship him out a year later at a loss. From an article on the Athletic by Arpon Basu on why Dach would not be available in a PLD trade “But the Canadiens’ management team of Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have repeatedly cited the trade they swung to acquire Dach as something they would like to repeat this offseason. They believe in Dach as an important part of the Canadiens’ future and as a centre. He is, in many ways, the poster child for how they want to do business, a player who was undervalued by another organization who they developed into something more than he was in his previous stop. To the Canadiens, the Dach story is an important message to other players who have failed to reach their full potential that they can do that in Montreal. He is the prime example of what working under Martin St. Louis and the Canadiens development staff can do for your career. His importance is far greater than simply what he does on the ice.” If they wouldn’t move him for PLD I guarantee they wouldn’t move him for the underwhelming offer you suggested -

Lol. What do you think Vancouver could/would possibly give up to pry Dach out of Montreal? -

He had 17 points in 25 games last year playing hurt. If he can stay healthy Montreal could flip him at the deadline for a decent return.
