  1. Excellent low risk signing for Montreal. They were a better team when he was healthy and playing last season. Playing through a broken foot caused a groin injury. Hopefully he can stay healthy this season
  2. Of course it’s from reporters. Almost everything is. I find it amusing how people take the reports that they want to hear as gospel and dismiss the ones they don’t want to hear as pure speculation. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Reporters hear things and speculate and the meaning. Garland has reportedly been on the block for a while. Maybe Vancouver has a bit more leverage now that they have some breathing room cap wise. But Garland doesn’t seem to be an asset that’s in demand
  3. There are reports that teams are asking for assets to take Garland. I seriously doubt Vancouver can get a 2nd for him Montreal probably takes that deal. They don’t really need another undersized middle 6 winger but it gets them out of Armia’s contract a year sooner. I doubt NJ does that deal. Graves is UFA so it’s just his rights. But the rumour is they’ll walk away from Sharangovich for budgetary reasons. So taking on Boeser’s $6.65m contract seems incredibly unlikely
  4. You failed to point out that they only have 15 players signed and that two of their RFA’s are Zegras and Terry. Both of whom will be getting big raises. They arent going to have any trouble hitting the cap floor well before Myers’s bonus is paid out Sept 15.
  5. Goalies don’t get that kind of return Juulsen is a pending UFA and honestly the kind of guy they can pick up on waivers There is zero chance Columbus trades 3rd OA for a bunch of lessor mystery boxes. It’ll cost an asset to move Myers. Even to Arizona
  6. Owners don’t want to make buyouts easier. Also. The cap is based on a 50/50 revenue split so allowing penalty free buyouts would screw up the math and trigger more escrow (which the players don’t want). If a GM screws up on a deal there’s no easy get out of jail free card. Nor should there be.
  7. Only 8 players from the team never made a statement regarding the incident. Hart was one of the first to make a statement condemning the incident abd he fully cooperated with the investigation. So I doubt he was one of the players involved
  8. Regardless. It’s been reported by a solid source that Montreal has no interest in Hart.
  9. And all I’m saying is Hart isn’t a big enough upgrade to give up valuable assets for. Apparently Montreal brass agrees
  10. Dubois in fact in NOT SIGNED for this upcoming season. He’s RFA with no contract for the upcoming season. He has said he will not sign with Winnipeg this year, not even a 1 year bridge that will take him to UFA next summer. His agent is working with Winnipeg to find a trade to a team that he’s willing to extend with. That list is suspected to be 5-6 teams
  11. Even as a rental Winnipeg is getting a MUCH better return than Garland
  12. Montembeault looked really good in the second half this year. And just led Canada to gold. I suspect you have a skewed opinion of him.
  13. Goals saved above expected factors in shot quality. And it’s not like Montreal dressed an all star defence in front of Montembeault
  14. Actually Montembeault ranked about 10th among goalies with 40+ games played. Hart was 12th
  15. Montreal is not interested in adding Carter Hart New Philadelphia Flyers GM Daniel Brière has told anyone willing to listen that he is willing to take offers on any of his players, including goaltender Carter Hart. The 24-year-old goalie would be an interesting addition as he is still progressing and could develop into one of the top goalies in the NHL. But even if his age and the Canadiens’ desire to strengthen the organization at the goaltending position could make Hart an interesting target, we’re told the Canadiens will not be exploring this avenue. The exact reason is not entirely clear, but we were told it was a “non-starter.” from an article penned by Arpon Basu. He covers the Canadiens and is very well connected.
  16. If I’m not mistaken Subban was traded either before his new 8 year contract started or 1 year in to the contract before his NMC kicked in as well
  17. Montreal is not giving up that much to get him. If he truly wants to play there they can afford to simply wait a year. Winnipeg is under the gun. Also. I think Montreal is interested but not to the point of selling the farm to get him. As has been mentioned. There are red flags with this player.
  18. Yet their advanced stats are very similar
  19. There has been nothing elite about Hart for the past 3 seasons
  20. Ignore the advanced stats if you like. I’m not saying Montembeault is better. Only that Hart isn’t a big enough upgrade to waste valuable assets on. Montembeault showed flashes of excellence last season and looks primed to take a step forward. And every team’s fans overvalues their players.
  21. The stats I posted factor shot quality and by extension team strength in. Also. Montreal lost overt 750 msn games to injury and dressed mostly a rookie/AHL call-up D all year. Montembeault and Hart’s advanced stats are very similar. So close that it makes zero sense to give up significant assets to trade for Hart.
  22. Montembeault s advanced stats are all slightly better than Hart’s. Better goals saved above expected. Goals saved above expected/60. and a number of other stats that factor in shot quality. He’s not substantially better. But it’s close enough to be comfortable moving forward with Montembeault over giving up assets to get Hart
  23. Unlikely he drops to 11 so you shouldn’t have to worry about it
