  1. Huggy Bear is too fragile. Besides if he plays goalie with his "almost league leading Minus -24 +/- average", does that mean his GAA gets re calibrated automatically to account for all those points against - and - where will we find another defenseman to make up those lost Minus -24 +/- points ??? There are only 2 worse +/ Defensemen out of the 316 in the league and I doubt Uncle Jim has the skill to scoop one of them up to replace Quinn when he's moved to Goalie.
  2. No team will cough up much of anything for an unproven, uninspired, injury prone 1st Round Jim Benning Draft Bust. Add this 1st round Draft Failure, along with Jake the Ripper and last years non-existent 1st round pick and it starts to make Uncle Jim look like just another average GM at best not the GOD like image "some people" portray him as. We might as well give hang on to him for now. Miracles do happen every now & then and we have nothing to lose with him at this point. If nothing else, he could potentially become a pillar defenseman in Abby on our new AHL team.
  3. Bingo ! Let the truth be told. You are 100% correct. Re-signing green was a terrible mistake. This team - under Green's stale/predictable systems will never rise to the level of play that we're witnessing in the cup semi's at hand. Green is an AHL Calibre coach and always will be. Lets not fool ourselves into believing otherwise.
  4. ........instead of Lazy Jake - all in an effort by Uncle Jim to save face in his dismal decision to draft Jake and keep hoping year after year that "Jake The Ripper" would blossom into something he is not and save face. Just watch Uncle Jim try to do the same with Yo-Levi (his latest 1st round draft bust) and tie up endless energy and waste time waiting for him to improve.
  5. Fingers crossed the twins can add something to the meandering front office management team. I sure hope this not another PR stunt (like the Linden hiring) to buy time in the never ending rebuild and distract us. Knowing the Sedin's though. I suspect they'll be able to contribute in some meaningful way - provided Aqua-LinI doesn't stick his nose in things - which has been an ongoing problem for the last 10 years and drive them out.
  6. I won't disagree with your thoughts but 43 times out of 45 times it did matter. Unfortunately, these are "The Facts". So for the Canucks, the question becomes: Can they win the cup being in that 5% category ?????
  7. Agree. a few more Millar types and a couple of Jovo type d's and we're in business.
  8. Lazy Jake will never dawn a Canucks uniform again. He's "tainted goods" now - even if he is exonerated or not sent to prison. It's bad PR for the organization to have an accused rapist on the team - innocent or not. My prediction is Uncle Jim will try to unload him (and maybe he gets lucky) but likely he'll just be bought out. No matter which, he's done in this city and it will be a huge disappointment in the end for all Canuck fans to see what a disaster this guy became after looking so promising in the beginning.
  9. While Internal toughness is one of many attributes required to be successful in winning the Stanley cup, physical size (roughness) & toughness of a team has and always will be one of the very most important attributes required to push through the playoffs - all the way. If you've been around long enough, which it sounds like you have, you know that as the playoff rounds progress and certainly in the final series, the level of physical play (and I'm not just talking about fighting) intensifies and rises to a peak and is usually amongst the top determining factors on who will win the cup. In 2011 that's what killed us, as Boston took over physical play after Rome P'd them off and woke them up and they severely abused our players to the point of disgust (Remember Kesler being constantly whacked in the back of his legs by Chara in front of the net & Sedin being punched square in the face and standing there like a statue doing nothing about it or how about Boychuk taking Raymond out in the boards - for good - and I can go on with many, many, more examples). So, its safe to say we are lacking dearly with that type of physical pushback on this current Canucks roster. As for last year, we were out muscled and severely outplayed in many games and especially in the LV series and if it wasn't for "divine intervention" / stellar-goaltending, we would have been slaughtered, as we were badly out muscled, outplayed and outshot in most of that series as you know. So as for those players you listed above, excluding Demko who is a goalie, I'd say the only forward with that ability to play with grit and physical toughness is Miler and I'll be polite and include Horvat (just for you) as every now & then he shakes off the "Swedish Finesse Syndrome" he was instilled with by the Sedins and gets involved physically. As for the other 4; Hogs, Boeser and Hughes, they are all young Finesse players, or too small/slight or don't get involved with heavy duty physical play, and Pod's is an unproven/untested NHL player and should not even be mentioned at this time. So on a 21 man roster that is pretty sad and skimpy and why this team needs to bulk, size & toughen up a bit because small regular season - fun to watch Finesse players will never be enough to win the cup and "I'll bet the house" on that and I think you know that too!
  10. Perhaps the truth lies somewhere in the middle, buy one thing for sure - that many know and stated above, that the Canucks are wimps and rarely stand up for each other and have No fight in them. The most embarrassing thing I saw this entire past season was seeing Edler get the $ht knocked out of him and he couldn't even defend himself - despite his size. How embarrassing that was!!!!! I attribute this to the "Swedish Finesse Syndrome" that has plagued this team for 20 years going back to Sundin, then Nazy, and then the twins who sucked the fight and grit right out of Horvat (and most of the team), leaving him an empty shadow of his once proud fighting Canadian self that he was once known for in Juniors. Until that syndrome is dealt with and eradicated by JB by selecting the "right" players onto our Roster, we'll likely see this continue for another generation with Petersson carrying the Swedish Finesse Syndrome torch into the future.
  11. As originally mentioned, that statement came from the Donnie & Dahli show yesterday https://www.cheknews.ca/shows/donnie-and-dhali-the-team/ AT THE 52:00 MIN MARK.
  12. Interesting Fact that came out during yesterdays Donnie & Dahli Talk show, that the three heaviest teams (NYI, Tampa and LV) are in the final four (again) this year with Montreal being seventh heaviest team. Meanwhile the Canucks are almost the Featherweight champions, being the second lightest team in the league. Question becomes; Is this truly a factor in playoff success or can the Canucks actually push all the way thru the playoffs with a pack of tiny framed speed demons and regular season type finesse players, or will JB finally realize that they need to "Bulk-up" with some size & grit to be able to move onto the promised land?
  13. Yes, I'm still waiting for the page to be turned on JB too and BTW, the reason TT wasn't signed was because he was left hanging for 4 days while Uncle Jim was busy trying to snag that DMan from Arizona - that fell though - and ignored all other contracts. Even Tanev confirmed this, saying that after the Az deal was a "no go" he came back to him and made him a low ball offer but Tanev had already made his mind up to leave. This jives with all the other off season fiasco's we've heard. And BTW, this needs to be repeated so it doesn't happen again as it's definitely the worse screw-up Uncle Jim has made amongst many (especially after signing Lucky loui) so he doesn't make any more screw-ball decisions as his asset management skills (I.e./Trades, resignings, movements) are horrendous not to mention two very bad wasted coveted first round picks in Lazy Jake & Yo-Levi not to mention a complete washout with last years draft where we will not have a single player coming out of that draft class. So his four good (proven) picks to date are weighed down heavily by his failures.
  14. Great post and thanks for providing todays "daily reminder' about Uncle Jim's unthinkable decision to choose Lazy Jake over TT. That will save me from having to post todays version.
  15. I would like to agree with you but 43 times out of 45 - it unfortunately did matter. I can't argue much against FACT !
  16. Of course if Aqua-Lini dumps Green or Uncle Jim, that would technically qualify as a Pseudo top three pick. Thanks for pointing out the obvious solution to all our problems!
  17. When/If Jake the Ripper is convicted of rape, do you think he'll be transferred out of province to serve his prison sentence, or do you think they'll still Lock Him Up in the Abby/Matsqui federal penitentiary - knowing he might know a lot of people in there - being from the area?
  18. Stumbled across this interesting story from SportsNet ( https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/can-win-stanley-cup-without-top-3-draft-pick/ ) written just a few years ago "Can you win a Stanley Cup without a Top 3 draft pick?" which stated that if you "Go back 45 years, only two teams have won the Stanley Cup without a top-three draft pick on their roster." Based on this FACT, and given that the Canucks have no 1st thru 3rd first round picks on the team even though we have a few good players and potentially a few others coming up, would you assume that we should patiently wait and hope that all those up & comers are able to lead us to the promised land - OR - do you believe in that theory above and suggest that we sacrifice one or more of our top assets and try and snag a top 1st-3rd player (if available) ?
  19. Hopefully Uncle Jim sticks with the game plan he started last year with unloading those guys and DOES NOT resign the 'over the hill- useless crowd - Edler, Sutter, Beagle. Motte and Roussel (next year) and all those late season left over wire picks from Toronto and if possible they write off LE once and for all.
  20. If the Canucks are somehow able to unload Jake The Ripper onto some American team before his trial and thereafter he is sentenced to prison, does anyone know if he can serve his prison sentence down in an American jail or will he have to come back to Canada to serve out his prison sentence here?
  21. the new asst coach is apparently "THE best defensive coach" in the NHL. Heard it from a guest on Donnie and Dhali today - so it must be true!
  22. I agree and have been saying the exact same that ALL the coaching staff including Green - excluding Clark - should have been turfed. Not to mention Uncle Jim. We're now going into season 8 with JB and the team actually finished worse off this year that 7 years ago when he took over and we're still going backwards. This team is years away from being a serious contender. just watch the playoffs now and try telling me that we can compete with those teams now. Not a chance..................!
  23. Agree ! I'm glad to see some new blood in the coaching ranks. I would have liked to see Bumgardener gone too - but this is better than nothing and should help! Good move!
