  1. I think Boeser is in that category. Petterson? Ya, probably will be with the heart and determination he has... but I think Boeser is the first of the elite, elite that we have. everything is trending So right it’s not even funny. We’ve got the top end winger with one of the best shots in the nhl and the selke level workhorse 50-60 point centre already confirmed. Then add Petterson, the hopefully top end first line centre, 2 shots at a #1 goalie with one real close, and now the puck moving top end blueliner who skates like Coffey that we’ve always dreamed of haha. Never thought I’d see the day we had this much quality depth for key positions on our team.. and I didn’t even mention Tryamkin, Hockey Gaud, Jake, Dahlen or Oli. if we land Noel tomorrow I won’t be able to contain myself haha
  2. I’m so glad we didn’t fire Jim after he didn’t draft konecny lol
  3. Anyone hear Bo’s interview on sportsnet radio? Said something like it’s good to see a guy like that that’s “almost nhl ready” haha. Just Bo’s opinion from practicing with him but still pretty cool.
  4. I don’t understand this. They play tomorrow morning. When is the roster deadline?
  5. Could we have had a better year with our prospects? This is insane lol. Pettersson breaks records, Gaudette hobey Baker, Juolevi munching big playoff minutes, Demko named all star, Virtanens figuring out how to do what he was drafted to do, jasek comes over and pots 6 in 3.. now Dahlen goes beast mode and claws back from 3-1 to promote timra? Haha this is just wild. Without the ability to trade our top 2 forwards and top defenseman to start a rebuild, Benning has still managed to give us the best prospect pool we’ve ever had. If Jim continues to pull 2 or 3 guys out of every draft and add quality young guys like Dahlen and Leipsic via trade, we are going to be a top team with longevity. We won’t get stale trying to win with the same guys if we’re finding quality at this rate. This is is the kind of player you hope you end up with taking a young package for a player like hank. You hope one sticks, you hope you get a Dahlen. We couldn’t trade a sedin but looks like we still mighta pulled it off. Now we get to watch our heroes retire the right way and wait for the next high end Swede(s) and you can bet your ass they’re on their way. Talk about having your cake and eating it too haha. Well done, Jim.
  6. It still allows us to protect someone else. Maybe allows you to keep Leipsic in the end... but even if it is Sutter. He could still be a decent deadline deal in his contract year.
  7. Totally. Expansion eligibility is priority number 1. As long as that game limit posted above is true I say burn that year off.
  8. I completely agree. I was just responding to the point made of it being better for us if he doesn’t burn a year. I think it works in our favor if he’s the real deal. You could luck out and end up with a 30 goal scorer that only eats up 3rd line centre money against our cap. In the years when we’re realistically trying to win too. but yeah.. He said he’s loyal but you never really know. He’s also extremely proud of where he’s from. I don’t want to take any chances and leave time for dreams of signing back home to creep into his head.
  9. Unless we land Dahlin and get fast tracked closer to contender this year. I kinda think it might be better in this case to burn a year off. Gives him 2 years to earn the next contract as opposed to 3. Who knows how good he really is but let’s say he is the real deal. That third year could be the difference in a 3 million dollar second contract or 5. Assuming Wanless is correct about expansion eligibility, I think it has the potential to help us more than anything.
  10. He curved it Wanted Angelina style around that Czech’s ass and bar down. Hurry up and finish drooling over Brock cus Elias is coming.
  11. I just googled it. All the games say tsn beside them except Sweden Belarus. They say TSN Go, I’m guessing that means online?
  12. He looks like if you shoot the puck anywhere in his general area, he'll get a touch on it. Looks so casual doing it too. Like it's easy for him. Gotta be the best net front guy in the draft.
  13. I'll cry tears of joy if this Vilardi fella makes it to 5.
  14. I kinda like that. Goes with his gut on a lot of players and gives you a different look at it. Sometimes he's pretty spot on. Had everyone laughing when he Jake pegged as more of a second round project lol.

    Olli Juolevi | #48 | D

Does he ever see the ice well. He seems to find the lane or space that's only open for a quick second and hits a guy with a pass that you didn't see coming. Looks like he knows how to pick the right over the shoulder spots on the goalie well too.. Its too bad he doesn't have a bit of an edge to his game. He'd be a sure fire number 1 if he could dish out some Finnish punishment every now and then. I know it's not his style, I'm just sayin its too bad haha
  16. Scheifele goes 1st in a redraft. That's just the pure luck of the draft when you're picking kids at 18. You just never know who's got it in them to be special. We need one of these kids to turn out like that. To go on and be the 8-9 million dollar man. Be nice to pick a guy like Patrick and he hits the ground running. Straight proves everyone wrong about the "weak draft". My god that would be sweet.
  17. I'm on team Patrick too. Hischeir is tempting but if we get the first pick, but I want the big western Canadian kid. Im thinking even if we draft 2 Hischeir's, we're not going to out skill the coilers. I'd like to see us build the heavy, wear you down over 7 games, type team. It doesn't mean we won't score or have skill. We'll just have multiple 50-75 point guys instead of 1 or 2 100 point guys. It's only a matter of time before Mcjesus starts raising the cup. I think if we want to steal one from him in his prime, we're going to have to beat him up and take it from him. 2 big strong centers at 1 and 2 will help us achieve that with our towering Russian on the blueline.
  18. Gretzky said himself after losing to the islanders he realized what it takes to be a champion after walking past the islanders dressing room. Instead of jumping up and down celebrating they were sitting there with ice packs nursing their injuries. The oilers realized if you want to win you have to pay the price. Just because a player gets better at not getting knocked off the puck doesn't mean he loses skill. It means you are likely to have more scoring chances because your team still has the puck. I don't disagree the game could use less dump and chase but hockey would be brutal if every coach told their skill guys to float and wait for the puck to come to them. This has nothing to do with what they want from goldy anyways. They just need him to be able to hang on to the puck under pressure. The game isn't 60 minutes of breakaways and 2 on 1s.
  19. I don't think he wants him running around throwing big hits or anything but more just stronger on the puck. If you can't go into the corner and come out with the puck you have no business playing hockey in North America imo. I think the difference in Baertschi from when we first got him to now is what we're looking for. He couldn't win a lot of puck battles and was easily knocked off the puck. That's how you get the minute + ozone shifts. Everyone pulling their weight in puck battles. Guys with skill are dime a dozen these days but this is a mans league. The ones that stick are the guys that will do absolutely anything to keep the play alive. It's why these kids have to sit in the press box every once in a while. Get a different view of what happens when the opposing player wants the puck 10 times more than you do.
  20. Ever notice that all year long whenever Trevor Linden is asked about our prospects, Lockwood is a real go to name drop? I noticed it after the second time he mentioned him and thought, hmm that's twice now he's brought up Lockwood, there must be something with this kid. Then he kept doing it all year in different interviews. After the season I'm wondering is Linden himself just suuuper high on this kid? or behind the scenes is scout master Jim saying "watch this kid Trev, he's the dark horse that's going places"?
  21. I went to game 1 and the kid had a few slick dangles. He didn't really stand out like you would think a top 10 player should. That being said, It was only one game and he did look pretty good. He just didn't scream top ten pick like every time I ever watched Brett Connolly. Every game I ever went to when he was here, he was hands down the best player on the ice for both teams by a country mile. That's kinda why I use him as a measuring stick even though he's not an NHL star. Ive listened to the rest of the games on the radio and it does sound like he's playing pretty well though. Hear his name a lot in the big scoring chances. Your question is irrelevant anyways. Cougs are going back to Portland to spank the Hawks in game 6 haha
  22. I feel like I've had Park Place for 3 years and finally found Boardwalk.
  23. I just listened to that interview on 1040's Twitter. Man was he pumped up. Pierre basically took control of the interview before they could ask him questions so he could rave about Gaudette. He went off and said he's the steal of the 2015 draft. Also said there's a few future NHLers on that team, some real good players but Adam Gaudette stood out. Loves the way he explodes and attacks when he gets the puck on his stick. I was was doing fist pumps in the garage listening to it haha. Someone should post it in here from Twitter. It was really good. Says 15-20 goals from Boeser is realistic next season.
  24. We were due for the hockey gods to let a Russian superstar with a cool number like 82 fall in our laps. Good timing, we needed this.
