If we're going to try and make the playoffs gillis should at least call up Jensen. He's not going to ruin the kids career giving him a taste to see if he can help. If anything it will make him work harder. We've been for forchecking just fine, no need for archi. Call up a goal scorer and try and score some freaking goals. You made your decision, gillis..you kept Kesler so call him up some help... And if your that worried about disturbing his development, bring in grenier. Hey Calgary, just giving Diaz a hug goodbye, meet you in the prospectless basement. Honestly not so much pissed Kesler didn't happen but more that absolutely nothing happened future wise outside of the Lu trade. If we're going rebuild/retool set us up to fail a bit. Get rid of a player of importance, gain a future asset and climb up in draft position. I have no doubt we'll still get decent value for some of these guys when we revisit this later. That being said, we weren't going to compete this year. Hanging on to our full roster may keep us 3 points out of a playoff spot and drafting mid range. The difference could have been a Dal Colle over Ho Sang.

I agree.. I'm not saying don't take pouliot, he's a stud, probably better than edler. I'm thinking of this retool as a whole.. If we want to move forward with edler, we should make a point if seeking out and acquiring him the perfect right side guy. If the Kesler deal goes down and we keep edler we build around him. Edler/big physical shutdown guy Pouliot/Tanev Who cares/corrado

We'd be in a log jam on the left trying to get pouliot in and trading bieksa.. Ideally it would be nice to come out of this retool with a good right side physical stay at home guy to go forward with pairing up edler. If we go forward with a future of edler we should get him a #2 defenseman for the right side so he can really thrive as opposed to juggling with bieksa garrison right side left side all the time. I like the idea of keeping him but we need a top pairing partner for him to cover his ass and maximize his talent. Unfortunately hamhuis plays left. I do really want pouliot though but if he comes we may have to trade from the left side

I could see a defenseman not named edler moved. Edler's young and on a fresh contract, his price may not be met. Bieksa could get some serious offers. I wonder what kinda youth he could bring in and if it be worth it.

Also trading Lu made a statement to each individual player what direction the team Is going, so all these guys with ntc's are going to start leaning towards looking out for number 1 and waiving ntc's for contenders. Why rush Bo? great player but he is not Nathan mackinnon. He'll start of the 3rd line like most great centers have, especially with his pedigree. B Schenn is far from a rental and would likely be part of the future core. Simmonds is likely a non starter for them anyways. Holmgren is not thinking well we have insane young centre depth, let's trade our best winger for another centre.

I hear ya, that is what I've thought all along. Why go after Kesler when your biggest need is a top dman. That being said it's going to take more than Laughton, although a beauty, still unproven. Starting point is couturier or Schenn for a player like edler. Your fan base would scream bloody murder if coots, so perhaps a Schenn deal could work. If we're really rebuilding then edler is our second biggest trading chip. If holmgren wants him the price is high and you guys will likely be pissed initially with the trade.

There's a lot of ridiculous proposals on here but I do know one thing, if holmgren is dead serious about acquiring Kes or Edler or both, flyers fans are going to be pissed because it will come close to one of these outlandish proposals.

Oh man, sending them both to philly would be insane. I bet you Kesler isn't even in the deal.. Obviously he'd be nice to have but these guys need a top dman more than anything and edler fits the bill. They already have major young centre depth so I see them tabling an offer for a defenseman. It's the perfect scenario for us, get a deal like that outta the way and we don't have to be too picky about having a centreman in the Kesler deal.

I think it depends.. If you can get a good young centre for edler then why not take a beefed up package with a blue chip Dman like pouliot from Pit. I take Pouliot Bennett Sutter first over Schenn 1st. Then your one trade away for your dream centre and have the assets to get him. How bout this, take that pit deal then offer up sutter to upgrade from Schenn to Couturier in an edler blockbuster. Gives them the shutdown centre the need losing the player they covet more. Couturier prospect 1st For Edler Sutter

Not really what we need at this point. I'd consider that more of a hockey deal than a retool.. Would love to have him though haha
