If I have tennis elbow, can I still workout or will it eff my elbow up more?

The hammering part may be the primary cause of your problem.
The repeated motion (for unknown reasons) tends to inflame the tendon over time... which is namely why it's called tennis, golfer's, etc. elbow.
I would go see a physiotherapist to get a more professional and personal diagnosis, if you haven't already. Ultimately, they'd be the one who'd be able to tell you if you'd be able to continue with your daily duties or take some medical time off...
