  1. Lol. In what universe is Guenther going to be a bust? I think he's going to be one of the more well-rounded and accomplished players to come out of this draft.
  2. For those of you who have a subscription to the Athletic, here's a very enjoyable article on Edvinsson. https://theathletic.com/2546953/2021/06/03/what-is-the-allure-of-simon-edvinsson-the-2021-nhl-drafts-unicorn/ It's also cool to note that he takes up MMA, like Jurmo.
  3. Who might the faller be? Could see it being Guenther or Edvinsson. I'd be elated with either. Edvinsson needs some work, but with some help from Shaw, I see him becoming the type of top-4 Dman that's impossible to find. The Sedins would play a large part in bringing him along, too. Meanwhile, Guenther is a guy you win with. Period. No two ways about it. That right wing position is a little bit clogged atm, but if Guenther is there for the taking at 9, it should almost be a no-brainer. BUCKLE. UP.
  4. Jake's a problem child. There's a big difference between those two.
  5. He could form some nasty chemistry with guys like Pettersson, Hughes, Boeser, etc. We'd have jaw dropping power plays for years.
  6. It's just gotten to the point where I have absolutely no idea who's going to be there for the taking at 9. I've over-dissected the hell out of this draft for like over a month now. The countdown is on. My fiancee works on the day of (and I've been blessed with the day off), so I'll be drinking copious amounts of liquor, and I'll probably have a friend over. Can't wait.
  7. Can't help myself. I'm so sad for the country of Latvia - and they should be so proud of the goaltenders they've been able to produce out of there.
  8. @HighOnHockey who do you think Anaheim takes at 3?
  9. Quick, text JB!! But seriously, this kind of move seems quite feasible, and I'm sure it's been discussed to some extent...
  10. 3 absolute pillars though - and many people just don't understand hockey well enough to know Heiskanen's true value. Can't go wrong with either. With all respect to Hischier, he's at best the 5th best player to come out of that draft. Suzuki is an absolute force, and I'm personally a bigger fan of Necas than I am of Hischier. Then there was this guy that went 2OA, but for the life of me, I can't remember who that player was...
  11. If we're trying to do all of: add more snarl to our defence, add players who perfectly align with the age of our core group, and become more competitive, then Gavrikov is a perfect fit for us. And as you mentioned, being a Russian for Podkolzin to have around is just an added bonus. And of course, this is a guy that Shaw is familiar with - and is probably one of the big reasons why Gavrikov has evolved into the type of player he has. I see a genuine fit here.
  12. That's a trade I would do. It's more than fair. Maybe you try to change the 3rd into a 4th, but as a premise, it's a fair deal. With respect to Juolevi, I'd have no issue in trading him if it meant acquiring Gavrikov. Our defence is too easy to play against, and Gavrikov fills a need for us. Not only that, but he's in the perfect age range (25 yrs.). He'll be a top-4 calibre shutdown Dman for another 6-7 seasons.
  13. He's the type of Dman we need though. And it wouldn't cost a king's ransom to acquire him. I'm not suggesting that he can be had for free, but we wouldn't have to flip our 9th pick. Maybe a 3rd and a B-level prospect (as approximate value)? He's a minute munching shutdown D man that can play in the top-4. He's almost an Edler replacement.
  14. Gavrikov is a good one. Great size, plays physical, and blocks shots. He would be more than welcome here as a steady, mobile stay at home D-man.
  15. If Edvinsson's presence/impact on the game ends up being similar to that of Lindell, a team will be very, very happy. In my logical mind, he shouldn't fall any further than 5. If I were the GM of Anaheim, that's who I'd be taking.
  16. @Alflives Then imagine if, before pick 10 (after making the deal with Ottawa), Benning then flips the 10th pick to Buffalo (as they really like Eklund) for Reinhart. Ottawa really likes Clarke, Buffalo really likes Eklund, and we really like Reinhart. It's not impossible to get extra creative here.
  17. Same with goaltending though. Their best goalie prospect, Keith Petruzzelli, won't be signing with them.
  18. In this particular scenario, my thinking is that Ottawa would chase after Clarke hard and offer us something very good to move up one spot. Dorion did something similar by trading up one spot to select Logan Brown. As for the Nucks, Eklund could end up being the best player in this draft (with an Aho-like ceiling), and would fit like a glove in Vancouver's top-6.
