  1. Interesting... I don't see any way Edvinsson doesn't go top-10. But it's theoretically possible, as we've seen certain Dmen slip in the past (Hughes, Dobson). I just love doing mocks, so here's another rendition : 1. BUF - Power 2. SEA - Beniers 3. ANA - McTavish 4. NJD - Hughes 5. CBJ - Johnson 6. DET - Wallstedt 7. SJ - Guenther 8. LA - Edvinsson 9. OTT (from VAN) - Clarke 10. VAN (from OTT) - Eklund Should be a very entertaining draft.
  2. I'm surprised he didn't say something about Brad Shaw's "whiteness".
  3. EXCELLENT contract for the Wild. Very comparable to the Nuge deal. Ek has emerged into a legitimate Selke contender. I'm hoping that if/when Bo gets extended, his contract is structured similarly.
  4. I would streak through DT Vancouver naked if this happened. Why would Dallas do this?
  5. I didn't realize there was a Johnson-(Jeff) Tambellini connection from the Trail days.
  6. I just think they have some major culture issues, and that core needs a shakeup. It's a dog's breakfast.
  7. Anaheim's going through a slow and methodical rebuild. They're not ready to compete again for some time, but they've got a few bluechip prospects in their pipeline + a 3rd overall pick coming.
  8. Fully agreed. LA is on the mend. And speaking of aging vets, Kopitar had one of the most underrated seasons in the NHL this season, too. And although he's 33, he still has plenty of mileage left. Dude's a specimen.... Although I understand where people are coming from when they say that many of LA's prospects aren't quite NHL ready yet, while that's true, many of them are. Vilardi, for example, is no joke. Neither is Mikey Anderson. And those who aren't ready now, are only a season or two away (or 3, but you get the point). So with that being said, I think the Arvidsson move was a brilliant one for them. I think that he's at that perfect bridge-gap age in their build. By the time he's Kopitar's age, think about the age that all those prospects "who aren't ready" will be by then... Byfield will be close to Horvat's age to put things into perspective. Adding Arvidsson allows the Kings to be that much more competitive, and make no mistake, adds an irreplaceable amount of heart and soul to their group. Few here seem to see what Blake and Robataille are doing - but I can. And given their RICHES in picks and prospects, they can do more, and I don't think they're done adding yet. They have enough futures assets to offset another potential "now" move. Although I think the Nucks are ahead of them as far as being competitive goes, they're very much in the mix to be a playoff team. It'll actually be very exciting to see the Canucks, Kings and Kraken duke it out for those final playoff spots.
  9. I still think Benning will try to make a splash for Reinhart, but if he can't, he'll pick whoever's left between Eklund, Johnson, McTavish, etc.
  10. He just isn't that good. Just ain't so.
  11. Did anyone else catch Scott Wheeler's mock draft on the Athletic? Methinks we're getting a good one at 9.
  12. He's such a good listen. Always worth the 15-20 mins.
  13. Kent Johnson has really grown on me. I can easily see him becoming an elite point-per-game scorer in the league.
  14. Feel free to add Lockwood to that list. Potentially a guy like Utunen too, but that would be a little further down the line.
  15. Corey Pronman said that there's a scouting industry consensus top-9 skaters in this draft: Power, Beniers, Guenther, Hughes, Edvinsson, McTavish, Eklund, Clarke and Johnson. He thinks that we'll select whoever of these nine are left at our pick. And obviously, if Wallstedt gets picked ahead of us, we'll have two to choose from.
  16. The Sedins talked about "winning matchups" being the most important aspect for winning games. Svechkov is allegedly a "defensive genius", and seems to have no problem putting up points too - so he could be the perfect pick (as far as that philosophy goes). I could see him being a mind-f*ck pick by Kekalainen at 5. I mean, they picked Chinakhov last year, so it's possible... Then when the Sedins inevitably take the reigns for this team, they should bring Larionov over from Russia to join the organization in an executive's role. Imagine the collective IQ between those three... Alien-esque!!!! I don't imagine Svechkov will be our pick though.
  17. I might actually crap my pants if Edvinsson is available at our pick.
