  1. I honestly think they would have been better off letting Feaster & Weisbrod see their plan through... Treliving did a miserable job patching up the team around their "core" when he came in in 2014, and have been spinning their tires since. That team is a joke.
  2. Ottawa definitely has the pieces to make a trade. And Dorion said he'd be willing to trade the 10th pick. If I'm Calagry I think it's in their best interest to start looking into a longterm rebuild. Their team is quite pathetic.
  3. Hypothetically, say we traded the 9th pick for Ek, here's what we'd be looking at: Miller- Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Granlund Hoglander - Eriksson-Ek - Podkolzin Motte - Sutter - Highmore/MacEwen Not bad.
  4. But on the flipside, that sounds a lot like Miller, too (as you described Ek). 2C/3C, doesn't matter - the point is is that he can be that same type of player. Having Petey, Bo and Miller down the middle is pretty elite. I LOVE the idea of drafting 9th and picking a player like McTavish, Edvinsson, Eklund, etc., but I also love the idea of trading for Reinahart and adding another player in the mould of Granlund via free agency. I like Granlund in particular because he can play all three forward positions, play anywhere in the top-9, plays on the powerplay and kills penalties. Maybe a player in the ilk of Coleman? Granlund - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Reinhart Hoglander - Miller - Podkolzin Motte - Sutter - Highmore/MacEwen Miller - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Reinhart Hoglander - Granlund - Podklozin Motte - Sutter - Highmore/MacEwen This is very respectable imo, and gives us all kinds of options when putting four lines together. Hoglander and Podkolzin could earn more minutes too. The way I look at it is, yes, we can make the 9th pick and pick a REALLY good prospect, who, would in most cases be worth waiting through their development (whether it's 2-4 years), but although they come in very few, there ARE the right players that the 9th pick can be dealt for. Reinhart is one of them. Not only would he fill in on of our holes in the lineup which desperately needs filling, but he's the right age and would be the perfect line mate for Horvat (and I can keep on listing other different reasons...). Could happen! I know that there are other teams in on Reinhart and that Eichel will probably be moved, but in the case of either being dealt, Buffalo seems to be readying themselves to acquire ANOTHER top-10 pick. I don't care what the media says/thinks/speculates. In MY opinion, if Buffalo agreed to a trade where we traded the 9th pick + cap for Reinhart, then we should do it. But... if none of this happens, nor do we trade for a player of a similar mould, we pick a great player at 9. Which is totally k.
  5. I agree, but it would definitely have to be for the right player. For example, if Joel Eriksson-Ek was on the block for some crazy reason, he's someone that I'd trade the 9th for.
  6. Not gonna dance around it.... I love OEL, but his contract IS a problem. Great player though.
  7. There's a quote from his coach in an article from the Athletic saying that he's "the Tom Brady of hockey", referring to the fact that that he didn't let his knee injury bog him down and that absolutely nothing phases him. He really seems to be cut from a different cloth in regards to how he handles himself at such a young age. McDavid was able to make a full recovery after his knee procedure. I'm sure teams will have the full insider regarding his knee. He's definitely a top-15 prospect in his draft. Could be a sleeper at our pick.
  8. I was talking about Mrs. Podkolzin.
  9. I'm not convinced that he gets taken before our pick.
  10. "That's a small body, gentlemen. That's a small body."
  11. I liked this rumour (that actually has some serious merit to it) before the media took it and ran. Now all I see are the Dunning Krueger types on facebook commenting on articles about it and making direct comparisons to Toffoli. Doesn't make it as fun anymore.
  12. This guy would be an absolute mother f***** to play against. Looks great in blue and green.
  13. Yeah that would sure get the simpletons going... Would be ironic, though.
  14. Yeah, and if there are 9 guys that Benning likes I don't see why he'd do such a deal.
  15. I honestly see the chips falling in our favour at the end of the day and McTavish being available to us at 9. I see the Blue Jackets as the only potential threat there, but I don't see how they pass on a D man like Edvinsson or Clarke. Heck, if Beniers falls to 5 that's probably who they take if they decide to go C...
  16. Don't remember. Might have been the 650 vermin "reporting" that.... I think it made logical sense though, fwiw.
  17. I think so - unless they think more highly of Johnson. Could see Lysell as a fit there too. Guenther is the best of the bunch though, I think at least.
