  1. Maybe another 2-3 for Jett Woo? He'll certainly fit that profile
  2. Hoglander is NHL ready too!!!!!!! Edit: maybe Virtanen for a C like Girgensons if we don't recoup a pick for him? I dunno just spitballing...
  3. When they traded for the 7th that was before the draft began. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to jump a little higher after acquiring the pick
  4. He's not that good. The Rangers badly wanted Pettersson at 7, but of course he wasn't available so they had to settle with Andersson. Pfft
  5. Keep in mind though, it'll be important to be able to bring in young players on ELC's year after year. In 3-5 years from now, not only will Petey and Hughes be well into their mammoth sized contracts, but players like Horvat, Boeser and maybe Miller will be due for raises. Part of the "circle of life". Just you wait... Hoglander, who we only drafted last summer, will be thrust into a top-9 role as soon as the next season starts - and will be on a 3 year ELC, might I add. It'll be of vital importance to try and and add least one 1st/2nd round pick every year, and not having a 1st AND a 2nd for this draft leaves a huge hole. I would happily trade Virtanen for a 2nd. We don't need to trade for a top-4 I don't think... guys like Juolevi and Rathbone will soon change that perception.
  6. What have I been saying this WHOLE playoffs about Jake? Yes, his toolbox screamed playoff player, but he just couldn't figure it out - and now, I get the feeling that it's too late for him... Too bad. He's a terrific candidate for someone that we can move to recoup a 2nd (maybe from a team like Ottawa), and it will help us down the line when we're going to need the extra cap space for Petey and Hughes.
  7. If we keep Demko and let Marky walk, would Lundqvist make a solid backup who could play around 30 games or so? He has a base salary of 5.5 coming up on the last year of his deal.
  8. He was definitely playing injured against Vegas. That much should be obvious
  9. Imagine what we could get out of Ottawa dealing then Demko, Virtanen and even Eriksson, who only needs to be paid 5 million after his signing bonus. I could also see Dorion liking Roussel as a culture piece, much like when he brought in Burrows a few years back. I can see us trading for their 28th pick, and maybe even an NHL ready centre prospect with bonafide top-line upside, like Logan Brown maybe?
  10. What's the book on Helge Grans? Big right-handed Swedish Dman, who put up a point per game in the J20 and already has 21 games of SHL experience. Is there a reason why he's only a consensus late 1st rounder/early 2nd rounder?
  11. I hate to burst your bubble but there's no way Ottawa's trading Tkachuk... More like: OTT Demko Gaudette Stecher VAN Brown/Norris 28th overall
  12. I think the Canucks and Senators would make great trade partners. Do the Sens have cheap NHL ready prospects/young players on ELC's? Yes. Do they have a plethora of draft picks? Yes. Do they need a goalie? Yes. I think Demko could fetch us a boatload from that team if they're looking at him to be their future #1

Have been making proposals with them for a couple yrs. Strongly agree.

Perfectly mismatched(assets & needs) to balance these things in a big trade.

    3. Bruce Boudreau

      Bruce Boudreau

Beartchi,Boeser, and Gaudette for one of their first in 2020 maybe.

ya im not trading a decent 3rd liner and a thirty goal scorer for a early first rounder  even with baertchi cap dump

  13. This is a tough call, but at least we don't have Luongo money/term tied into any one of our goalies this time around. At the end of the day, I think we should trade Demko - and there's no better time to do it. We have all kinds of needs right now, including the need for another 3rd line centre, a top-4 (preferably right-handed) D man, and the need to recoup more of our draft picks. Demko can surely fetch us one (or more) of those needs if what's available in free agency isn't 1) the right fit and/or 2) affordable for us. Detroit has come up here and there as a potential trading partner, but I think another one to look out for is Ottawa. Teams like San Jose and Boston could be dark horses. Demko's value is sky-high at the moment, and I have no doubt that he's on the way to becoming a starter in the league. But Markstrom is our guy right now. We need to take the next step towards becoming a contender, and we already have our bonafide #1 in Markstrom - currently playing in his prime. A guy I absolutely love that I'd like to see us sign to play 30 games behind Markstrom would be Khudobin. The problem with Khudobin is that he'll come in around 4-4.5 million, which is only 1.5 million less than what we can sign Markstrom for. Same probably goes for Greiss. (The two aforementioned goalies just got their teams into the final-4.) Maybe a guy like Dell is a suitable/affordable backup option, or even Port Alberni native Laurent Brossoit. Could you trust Domingue to back up Markstrom? I'd be leaning towards no on that one, so you'd have to find someone who you'd be comfortable having play 30 games or so - and there are definitely guys out there who can do just that. Or do the Nucks just get Marky signed, keep Demko, and worry about the goalie situation later? As much as I want to think this is feasible (because then you get to roll with both Marky AND Demko for another season), we might lose our window of opportunity to trade Demko if we don't do so before the next trade deadline - and then, obviously, lose him for nothing to Seattle. It's such a tough call and it's hard to say what will happen. There are other factors to consider too: Demko already has 2 concussions, and Marky tweaked his knee (and maybe his groin). Hopefully Markstrom's latest injury won't be of any concern in the long run... But based on everything I've gathered up to this point, I would pull the trigger on Demko because his trade value is so high; and we already have Markstrom - a top-10 goalie in the league. Hypothetically, we could trade him in a package deal to Detroit, and they trade us the UFA rights to Jimmy Howard as a potential backup. I know he's a prospect, but I love Moritz Seider. Dare to dream, dare to dream... Benning's a smart guy and will figure this out. Just remember folks, our season ended only just a couple nights ago. And we've seen around the league that trades are already being made. This is just the beginning of the offseason for us. Buckle up!
  14. It's honestly too bad. The Stars have one of my favourite collections of players on a team, but they're still stuck with those two clowns... I think they'll no longer be underachievers once they move on from those two and let the Heiskanens, the Lindells, the Hintzs and the Gurianovs take the reigns
  15. I actually want to see us play the Avs. Not only would we get to see Petey and Hughes go head-to-head with MacKinnon and Makar, but we've matched up better vs. them than the Stars
  16. That game was one of my more bittersweet memories as a Nucks fan. Absolute heartbreaker but a hell of a game
  17. For arguement sake, what if Demko were to suffer a 3RD concussion? Careful what you wish for...
  18. Virtanen's been putting in the same effort level as Wellwood and has 2 points in 14 playoff games. Everyone had this idea that he was going to be a playoff performer - but he just ain't wired like that.
