  1. Yup. Also the same fears of Demko not signing and becoming a UFA before Boeser/Gaudette.
  2. No sarcasm just genuinely happy with your comment of a 21% increase in his body mass. Party on!
  3. Haha ...How do you figure? Don't get me too excited.
  4. Good article by Botchford on Pettersson in the Province. Yeah I know it is Jason Botchford but he actually got me to buy a Province newspaper for the first time in many years because of the Pettersson write-up. http://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/canucks-top-prospects-no-1-elias-pettersson Wow, comes back next day after being drafted and wants to know the prospects the Canucks drafted. This says a lot. He has gained 7 pounds since the draft! Yeah, it is 7 pounds but it makes me feel better.
  5. Haha HFboards. I like to go there mostly for entertainment and a bit of insight.
  6. Heard on AM 650 On Point with Randip Janda and Perry Solkowski that the Canucks have signed Jasek to a 3 year ELC. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/canucks-sign-forward-lukas-jasek-entry-level-contract/
  7. Finished listening to Uffe Bodin on 650, one of the masterminds of Eliteprospects https://twitter.com/UffeBodin. He talked mostly about Canuck prospects Elias and Jonathan. On Pettersson, he said that he had gotten off to a slow start in the playoffs. That he may have been caught off guard by the increase in the intensity and physicality. Elias has been able to adapt though, and has been really producing. When asked if he was ready for the NHL and the increase in physicality, Uffe feels that hockey wise he is ready. He will need to adapt to the much longer NHL season. He also needs to fill out and does not expect him to be a Calder candidate (if I remember correctly). His elusiveness combined with the high IQ and awareness, will enable him to avoid the hits. Said that the NHL game has changed since the Sedins came into the league and that Pettersson's transition to the NHL will be easier (paraphrased). Concerning his comments on Dahlen, he is the best player on the team and that he grew a lot by fulfilling his promise to get his team promoted. That Dahlen is a scorer and is very fast. He mentioned that Dahlen was fast a couple of times.
  8. Thanks. I was searching for his most up to date measurements a couple of weeks or so ago to no avail. Yeah, that's not bad size.
  9. Yup. Benning is the man. I wanted Glass myself but wasn't upset he picked Pettersson. I haven't gotten any of Benning's first rounders right so wasn't shocked with the pick. Now if Benning ever picks the guy I like, that is when I will really start to second guess him.
  10. ^ Can't stop laughing looking at that picture. Hehehe the Americans have nothing over the Russians in terms of current heads of state.
  11. Tried searching for that but all I could find was Putin releasing his two pet tigers in Siberia. Next thing the Chinese are blaming them for the killing of 15 goats and the disappearance of 3 others in China.
  12. Just listened to Slava Malamud on AM 650. Interesting what he had to say about Tryamkin. He said that 60-70 % of the Russians who go back to Russia return to the NHL. The reason is that all Russians know that the NHL is the best. That it is better to be a fish in the NHL than a big fish in a small pond. That unless there are certain circumstances like a bad coach etc., the player is always wondering what if. Here is a link to something Slava wrote that I found quite informative. Not about Tryamkin but about the KHL. https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/6mm8bb/slava_malamuds_massive_twitter_rant_on_how/
  13. Yes that is true. I don't think he is a natural mean killer type. But he is very competitive, and I think this wake up call, will hopefully make him realize, that he has to play with more bite and urgency or lose his spot to someone else. Nothing like the fear for your job to help you focus and have more urgency in your life.
  14. Hutton has been playing a lot better since his first benching. I was paying close attention to his play because his play was driving me nuts this year. I got to the point where I didn't want him on the team anymore. If he can play consistently, like the way he has been recently, watching the Canucks will be a lot more pleasurable.
  15. Yes. Prospects are very aware and well informed these days (information age and all). They take everything into consideration, it is their future after all. In addition, Gaudette is a very loyal and quality person (like Demko and Boeser). He will sign here.
  16. ^ Some people here, were worried that Demko wouldn't sign. Fewer were worried Boeser wouldn't sign. I was sure both would sign. I am sure Gaudette will sign with us. You can tell by the type of person they are.
  17. Yes. An opportunity is important, specially for a Goldobin type of player. He looks like he needs a top six role or other offensive players around him to be effective. I think there's a good chance he succeeds with us because of his offensive ability and appears to be the type of Russian player that is motivated to make a career in the NHL.
  18. Yes, that is true. I trust Benning's ability to identify potential NHLers so Goldobin has to make it.

    Sam Gagner | C/W

Well I was expecting more points for one. He has been given the chances including the power play. He had played 696 games and gotten 402 points prior to Van for ppg of 0.58. It is only 11 games but his ppg is 0.36 here. To me he just doesn't look like he is giving his all atm. Maybe he will get on a hot streak like you say and become more productive. Also, most players take a year to acclimatize to a new team so maybe next year he picks it up.
  20. Well said and I wholly agree. Kane...I don't know. However, if he was acquired/signed, I'd be okay with it because I trust Benning.
  21. A player like Goldobin, with that much scoring prowess, has got to make the NHL eventually.

    Sam Gagner | C/W

The problem with Gagner is he's not fully invested with the Canucks. He is holding back somewhat, for whatever reason. Maybe when things start to click for him, it will be different. He seems like a nice guy though.
  23. That is so cool. I kept replaying it. The passion, the marching like beat and cadence. I wish the person who plays the music at Rogers records this, and in the future, whenever Elias makes a great play/scores, this is played loudly. Checked out this guys Twitter and found this neat celebration.
